I play the Double Bass, violin, and flute. I play Bass in orchestras and teach music at a secondary school. I love music, and I try and share that with my classes. It is easy to get discouraged when sometimes students are not open to new styles of music - they only want to listen to or play the songs they already know.
I am new to raw and I would love to look at some inspirational before and after raw photos to help me get the motivation to get started. Anyone who has some photos, please post them to give us newbies the kick start we need!
Thanks for the welcome everyone! I prematurely joined the 60 day challenge after attending a raw food talk, but I was not prepared for how much there is to know and how hard it is to change your life to raw!
Especially when everyone around you at work and home is addicted to cooked food. I will keep on reading and keep on making progress, I think gradually is the best way for me at the moment till I know more.
What do you eat for breakfast? That is one of the hardest meals for me!
It is an amazing feeling to overcome a food intolerance. You can live for years thinking that pain/ discomfort / poo health is "normal". It is not until you discover that you just shouldn't eat that type of food that you discover how good "normal" should feel!
In my case it was dairy - I can't believe how great I feel without it!
What books would you recommend for some one new to raw?
The Chi running clinic in Nerang was fantastic, as was Jennie's raw food talk! I have been dabling in raw food and green smoothies since, I am trying to educate myself so I can go totally raw in the near future.
I only have a blender, and I am not sure if I need a dehydrator as well to start.
Also, do I need to buy the "supefoods" or should I just eat lots of vegies and nuts?
I am brand new to the raw movement, after attending Jen's fabulous raw food talk last week. I have been reading everything on this site and trying to go raw, but it is really hard when my husband thinks it is crazy!
I have had success with green smoothies, however - my kids love them! I have a good blender and an average juicer, but I am worried about the cost of getting a dehydrator and all the expensive "super foods".
So what do I need to go from dabling in raw to living the life? After the research I have done, and the few days of eating more and more raw, I am totally convinced it is the way for me to go. What books / equipment do I need? How do you convert your family?
Jen I was inspired by your talk on Raw Food at the Chi running course. I was so amazed with the food, it was delicious and the most amazing thing was I didn't get hungry again after your lunch till 7:30pm. Normally I eat a microwaved lunch of cooked dinner leftovers - what I thought was a healthy meal of stiry fry or curry or similar. Yet I always am starving when I get home from school (I am a music teacher) and I devour snacks until dinner.
I am going to give raw a try, I am very nervous because it is completely different from what I have been eating. I have a good blender and I will try to keep it simple at the start and ease into it gradually, I will let you know how it goes!
This wonderful oil is cold-processed and stored in glass. It has a delicious coconut smell and taste. Perfect for smoothies, deserts, salads and even for using as a moisturiser! [Click Here to Learn More...]
