That's really interesting, thanks, waterberry Smiley

Do you grow all of your herbs in a sort of a box or in separate pots? Ah, sorry, just read your post again and it looks like you grow some in a box and some in pots. I have a so called "strawberry" pot with 5 openings for different herbs. Do you think I can put it inside the house? The reason why I'm asking is because it's quite cool outside these days.

Also, where do you normally buy organic seeds?

Did you have any experience with growing your own spinach? I seem to consume a lot of it, so I thought I could as well grow it. Do you have to grow it in a veggie patch?

Yeah, I was thinking about planting some fruit trees too coz they are sort of "unpretentious"  cool

Sorry for a lot of questions, I'm such a dummy when it comes to growing stuff but I'm getting there, slowly but surely - learnt how to sprout already  rofl

Thanks for great advice Smiley

Thank, durianrider!

I sure know the answer but there is no easy solution here, not in my opinion. I don't want any more endless arguments about what's better for you uhuh I've decided to do "my job" gradually (just like Victoria Boutenko says it in her "12 steps") by not praying all the time but introducing more and more raw stuff into my family's diet. It's hard to do though from the financial point of view Sad

I see about Steve. I should probably go there myself or is it not such a good idea?

I read about "Organically Grown" on this forum but haven't been there yet since it's quite a long way away from me. Will go there one day though.

Do you buy from these farms or do you pick your own fruit and veg there? Are they open to the public?

Thanks Smiley

Hi, guys,

Just curious about the subject Smiley and about how easy it is to maintain your veggie patches/fruit trees/pot grown herbs Smiley
5  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Adelaide. Organic fruit and veg - cheaper on: Tuesday 20 May, 2008
Hi, guys,

I've been buying my organic fruit and veg from a local organic food store. After doing this for a month and a half I found that it hits our pocket so much Sad , especially now that I have to buy "ordinary" food for my husband and child PLUS food for myself.

My question is: could anyone please suggest where I can find organic fruit and veg a bit cheaper?

Are there any wholesalers that also sell to the public? I've contacted "Steve's Organics" but still haven't heard back from them.

Are there any ORGANIC pick-your-own places around Adelaide? I've done an Internet search and found only conventional farms like this.

I've never been to an organic farmer's market. Does anyone ever go there? Is it cheaper to shop there than at organic shops?

Thanks a lot for any kind of information!

Thanks a lot, Karen Smiley Powder seems to be more versatile than tablets. Thanks for the cooking tips.

I had a look at some powders and tablets at our local Health shop and they ARE expensive, especially organic ones.

I've just bought a SIGG bottle for my child. They are Swiss made aluminium water bottles. They claim that you can keep highly acidic juices in them as well and that nothing is going to happen to the inside of the bottle. Also, unlike plastic ones these bottles are stink free. We'll see...  cool

Have a look at this link: http://www.mysigg.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=5

The downside is that they are ridiculously expensive in Australia, so it's probably cheaper to order them online.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot, Karen, and thanks for your welcome Smiley

Do you take spirulina in tablets or in powder? What brand would be the best to buy in terms of purity of the product? Can you buy it at regular Health Food shops?

Fitday.com is quite interesting, I've just registered there Smiley Thanks again Smiley

Hi, everyone!

I'm new here and new to raw eating too (have been eating raw for 2.5 weeks).

I just wanted to ask you guys what your daily protein intake is (in grams), what kind of food you eat and how much of it you consume. Here in Australia the protein RDI is 1g per 1kg of body weight per day. So, if I'm 53kg, I need to eat 53g of protein a day. How true and realistic is this?

Any kinds of thoughts on the topic are much welcome Smiley

Thanks in advance for your answers Smiley

P.S.: I've been a bit worried since I read about a girl whose hair started falling out in clumps after she's been on a raw diet for around 8 months or so.
