31  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: what do with all that raw energy.. on: Tuesday 18 December, 2007
I've always admired how Bryan's writings seem to have that balanced touch.  He has some other articles on Raw Gosia's personal website I believe.  Durianrider, thanks for passing this on.

I have to think about this one for now.  I think my energy aligns with the emotions ("bliss/joy/love") department that Bryan talks about.

Beautiful  - thanks for sharing.

And to add to everyone comments above....How is your father? ...Hope all is well...

It sounds like you had a "breakthrough" of some sorts and learned something that some people take years to really learn (or never learn at all).

I try and be conscious and open to people ...but being human...well,  I sometimes have to remember to keep the flow open and moving when a challenge comes up.
33  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Celery is a good way to get the chicks on: Tuesday 18 December, 2007
Cool thread -- it has raw,  love, laughter...  and  education (yes, I'm a nerd - hehe Wink ).

Yup salary comes from salt.

I looked up celery -- it comes from the word "parsley".  And parlsey seems to come from the Latin petroselinon (rock-parsley)...rock...salt...maybe?...

I miss Joss' conversations with us.

Hey RNJen, yeah David Wolfe has more of that presence thing going.   And he's a cutie patootie...

But yeah, I'd say Graham is more fit -- hands down.

Anway, I'm still learning from both of them and others (including from those on this board)...I still haven't reached my zone for raw consumption yet.

Am enjoying the journey though.
35  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Went to the dietician this morning on: Tuesday 18 December, 2007
Great story - thanks for sharing!

You definitely took that dietician to new places in terms of what humans can thrive on. Good on you!!

----

Since my OJ fast, I've had eye-opening reactions as well (although on the opposite spectrum of the raw scale):

What did you eat today?  OJ.  That's it??? LOL... laugh

I don't have your strength though...still working on that. Wink

36  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Raw Gift ideas for kids on: Monday 17 December, 2007
Hi everyone, I thought I'd start a place where we can share gift ideas for children...

I have 3 nieces (currently 8, 6 and 2) and they don't live near me so I'm always wondering what to get them.

This year, this is what I have so far:

Books

    * Books by Sy Montgomery.  A friend highly recommended her books for adults and then said Montgomery has also written children's books.  I'm ordering this one:

"Encantado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon" by  Sy Montgomery.

Age:  9 and up I believe

    * "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr -- colorful, bold pictures - 1 sentence per page about different examples of peace.  It gets the reader thinking:  What is peace to you?....

Age:  varies..3-10?

    * "Blueberries for Sal" by Robert McCloskey - a girl fills her bucket with blueberries...nice old-fashioned illustrations.

      Age:  under 10?

I'm going to give small metal, colorful buckets to my nieces and fill them with food -- and then later go "blueberry hunting" with them (even if it's at the supermarket - lol).

    * Lunch tupperware-type sets they can bring to school...and fill it with food.  I like this idea...
    * A container filled with some food and goodies from the dollar store.  There's a "Japantown" dollar store here -- lovely unique gifts for a few dollars.
    * T-shirts with a slogan that represents them.  For example, the 8 year old is a vegetarian.  Maybe "veggie girl" for her, "future Steven Spielberg" for the 6 year old (she wants to make movies) and for the 3 year old...don't know yet...

Anyone have ideas to share?

Note: Rosal - I replied but by mistake I hit edit instead and typed over your post... I was able to save the text by going back but the images are lost. So sorry! Sheryl

Those also raised my curiosity when I ran across them on Wolfe's raw food sites...However, never went further...

So, unfortunatley, I don't have any info to pass on.  Perhaps the next person will be more helpful.
38  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Off Topic Chat / Re: Maha Mritunjaya on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
KittyK,

The songs you listed seem to be downloadable as MP3s from Amazon.com (as well as available on CD).

However, the artist isn't Hein Braat it looks like...??..

Link:  Maha Mrityunjay Mantra

Hope you find something...

39  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Durian eating contest - photo on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
Hey Durianrider, have you seen this picture of you before?  It's a few years old -- from 2005.

I saw it on the Durian palace website where it said  you were a prize winner in a durian eating contest in the Rayong Fruit Fair.

Sounds like you and everyone will have a blast in Thailand in 2008.

40  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: How many people follow Viktoria Boutenko (as her raw guru) on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
I like her idea of green smoothies, but I don't own a real blender (I have a little hand-held blender -- cleanup is 1 minute though! Wink ).

I'm thinking of getting a real blender and a food processor -- or perhaps just a Vitamix (used).

I hope to incorporate green smoothies into my diet in the future...

She and her husband must indeed be very proud of their children.  I think it's great they're already authors. Smiley

Thanks for the tip about finds in Santa Monica.

I'll be near that area (visiting) next year ... may check it out then.
42  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / What a difference using a food processor makes! on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
Yesterday I used a Cuisine Art food processor -- and, I'm impressed.  It made preparing food so much easier.

When I moved this year, I gave away my little mini-food processor so I've been just using a knife and board to cut things (and I use a little hand-held blender to blend drinks).

I have this food processor for the weekend ...and it's so quiet!!!  I didn't realize how quiet they could be (my mini-one was small, but loud).

For dinner, I put in a lot of greens with some avocado and a little lime juice (and some sea veggies).  I ate quite a bit more of greens than I usually do -- and they tasted good, too, in this dish!

After I return the food processor this weekend, I'm getting me one.  I want to make sure my green-level is high.

Anyone in SF have an extra one to sell?  dunno
43  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / Re: laksa on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
Thanks for posting this, Jungle

This recipe sounds great!  Vietnamese is one of my favorite flavors.

I recently bought some young coconuts...I'm going to have to give this recipe a try next week.

Congratulations on having a baby!!!  Sounds like the little one is getting in some yummy, tasty nutrients.

P.S.  In regards to the combination -- looks fine to me...lots of greens and protein.

I try and minimize  heavy nut and fruit combos (although those combos can taste mighty fine. Smiley ) so am glad to see more recipes with the green-protein combo going.  Actually, I love seeing ALL recipes!!! Raw's so good.  LOL.   laugh

44  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: Is Anyone NOT a Dr D Devotee on: Sunday 16 December, 2007
I can't say I follow everything he recommends, but, darn, he makes so much sense (to me at least).

Because of his book, the 80-10-10, I've been consciously cutting down on my fat intake (and I don't miss the reduction at all).  His explanation was so clear to me and made me take a harder look at what I was eating.

So thanks Dr. Graham on helping me reduce my fat intake!
