1  Fascinating RAW Facts! / RAW Facts, Info and Science / Re: Fats on: Tuesday 23 September, 2008
what are peoples opinions on fruit fats (eg avocado, durian,) versus  non fruit fats eg nuts , olive oil, coconut butter? I feel myself much more drawn to fruit fats on an instinctive level, as well as finding them digesting easier. It is also knowing that these other products have been processed/gone through a middleman before ready to eat. Modern processing is definately NOT a good thing! Was watching a program on tv this evening and orangutans were pulling durians from the treetops and gorging on them - certainly fits in with the notion that man kind and his ancestors are high fruit eaters.
What do people think?.
2  Fascinating RAW Facts! / RAW Facts, Info and Science / Re: Olive oil isn't always what you think it is... buy local and high quality! on: Tuesday 23 September, 2008
I have a bit of a question

Olives are naturally bitter, so they use salt/acid etc to draw out the bitterness. How do they get rid of the bitterness in olive oil?

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

I think it was Ghandi?

This is one I think of alot as a raw fooder - for everything we get to take for granted now there were those who had to forge against popular culture to make it so. So when i think of how tough it is being a raw fooder - lots of resistance by other people - I think of myself as a tough little pioneer bringing change for the good into the world.

1. For discovering raw. It has been the most empowering, 'right', and peace creating thing i have ever come across. And the internet, without which i would never of been able to access it.

2. Raw-pleasure. the site i visit most by far. The community here is so informative, loving and supportive.

3. My partner. A new suprise in my life, and i love him more deeply every day I get to be with him.

4. To be an Australian in 2008. I dont think there is a more privelaged position to be in - to be born without chains or any obstruction of basic human rights, to take for granted freedom, running water, healthcare and information - every need or want i could ask for. And to have access to and the ability to do/have anything i want - a pretty piece of fruit, travel to anywhere in the world, culture, etc - all at my fingertips. The freedom to decide who/how/what i want to be in life - has there ever been a time in history that a 35 year old girl can do that?

5. My body. The millions of injustices that i throw at it every day, and it just keeps going and going, repairing and continuing on. what an amazing creature. Nature is a miracle.  afro
5  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Drinks / Re: whats your favourite smoothie recipe?? on: Saturday 13 September, 2008

Mission: To scour the recipe sections of my favourite raw sites

Objective: To recieve inspiration and practical advice to further my path towards raw goodness

Conclusion: Success!

What a great thread - my weekend will be filled with fantastic recipes now, cant wait. :-)

Here is a green smoothie i do when i dont actually have any fruit left in the house:

zest and juice from a couple of limes
greens
water

Is a great way to get your greens without it tasting like just green - yummy!

NB - i love the tip on only pulsing with the bananas, will use it for sure.  yahh
6  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Drinks / Re: self made sports drinks a la Gatorade on: Saturday 13 September, 2008

I heard about the young coconut thing too - electrolytes, pure perfect water, easily assimilated carbs, and must be a million more things.

I heard once too that if you mixed young coconut water with green juice it would be about the best substitute for a blood transfusion you could get (i know at some point they used coconut water in the war when they ran out of blood). So this makes me think that combination would be a killer sports drink.
