If you want to breastfeed fully...you can!! You just have to stop feeding him anything else. Breast milk production is on a needs basis...the more he suckles the more you'll produce for him. Even if for a day or two he doesn't get as much as he's used to the supply will amp up very quickly and he will be full and happy again in a day or two. My son breastfed till 3years and 4 months and weaned himself happily. And at 6 months of age he was 10.5kg just on boobie juice...so they can and will thrive...especially on raw food boobie juice. Just make sure you keep up your greens, nuts, avo's, water, fruits, etc so that the milk can have everything it needs for his development. And eat seasonally and organically if possible...much higher in nutrients when organic foods are eaten in season.

Have faith in yourself and enjoy!!! Smiley

When I'm all raw I have so much energy and feel so powerful...like anything is possible...I can be or do anything I set my mind to because it's clear and buzzing with positivity...not full of crap.

Thanks for your support everyone Smiley

Sheryl, thanks for your offer of support and I'd love to be at the next picnic but i think it's going to fall on the weekend that I'm at Don Tolman's Bootcamp 4 Brains on the Gold Coast. So i'll have to see you at the next one.Actually, I'd love to have a day at the Day Spa you found on the coast...looks lush...so if you're going let me know and i'll try to make it down.

Jocelyn, thanks for sharing your experience with your relative. I know I can get that way and so that's why I'm taking self-responsibility and calming my moods by dietary and lifestyle changes. I feel much better when exercising, eating all raw (and you're right...I definitely crave salt and fats and if i eat too many fruit sugars and nothing else my energy and moods start to swing and i get wired or grumpy!!) As for the famous people, i was aware there were a few out there...probably more than we realise. Apparently most bipolar have very high IQ's...I have a 156 IQ these days...was higher when i was younger and my doctor when i was a kid was a very smart man and a Bipolar.

Canadian Girl, thanks for sharing your story...it has supported my decision to avoid medication and make the lifestyle changes i know will make a more positive and healthy difference. I was an elite athlete when i was younger and have had a lot of operations and took a lot of prescription meds and when i first walked away from conventional medicine and started doing cleansing and fasting about 8 years ago i went through some big healing crisis'. I remember everytime i'd be fasting and i'd go in the steam room or sauna i could taste anaesthetic in my mouth...yuck!! Good luck with you continued journey to health Smiley

Thanks again for sharing yourselves with me...i was worried that people may have been put off from this thread due to our society's discomfort with "Mental illness"!

I read an interesting study done at UQ where they found that when people were in the depression phase they were functioning nearly purely from the right (creative/feminine) side of the brain and when in the manic/up phase they're functioning from the left (logic/reasoning/masculine) side of the brain. I hate the all or none thinking that i can get into when my moods aren't stable...but i am glad to knw that i can control it and that it just means eating raw, exercising daily and making sure i get sunshine, sleep and me time!! Not always easy to do...especially as a single mum with a business...but i am doing my best!

i'd love to come...don't see me running the city to surf but maybe i'll walk it carrying my son in a backpack (all 23kg of him!!) I'd be coming down from Brissie for it...but the last one sounds so good i think i'd travel even further if i had to Smiley

do you think it'd be ok to have a child on the retreat? he's extremely sociable and would love hanging out with everyone. He's just spent 5 days and nights at the Blues and Roots Music Festival with me and he loved it...he's been every year since he was 10wks old.

Anyway, i've gotta run...let me know what you think Smiley
234  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Any spas with plunge pools near the Gold Coast Australia? on: Wednesday 18 April, 2007
surely there would have to be somewhere on the coast with all the tourist resorts and fancy hotels?!

I go to a Korean Bath house every week in Brisbane at Hotel Diane at Woolloongabba. $19 for as long as you like! THey have a hot (very hot), cold plunge pool with a thundering watefall spout over top, and sauna...as well as the showers (sitting and standing), relaxation area, etc. They also have a day spa attached so you can have a massage, scrub, etc. And i think if you have a treatment you get the bath house for free!! I love going there...it's my chill time out for myself and i give myself a scrub and shave and come out feeling a million dollars. And my skin loves it...especially whilst fasting/detoxing. There are separate mens and womens bath houses so most people go naked. So you can bath in the raw too...another version of raw pleasure Smiley

Maybe we should organise a ladies get together there one day Sheryl!!
235  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Bipolar Disorder and fasting/raw food diet on: Tuesday 17 April, 2007
Hi Everyone,

I know it's been AGES since I've been on here...life's been presenting me with many challenges the last 6 months!! And in that time i've gone completely off the rails with my eating and subsequently my health (physical, mental and emotional) have all been terrible.

I'm currently on my 3rd day of a water fast and tomorrow I plan on going onto juice for 14 days and then onto raw veganism for a year...and then i imagine i will continue on htat path if i am feeling well and seeing the results i expect to see. My brain is screaming at me to eat right now and i'm quite irritable today but I have a good reason for sticking to my fasting/eating plan. I have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder...we believe I've had it since I was about 10 years old. Funny thing is my family GP when i was growing up had Bipolar himself and so does his son now and he laughingly suggested that I might be Bipolar when I was going through my hormonal teenage years.

So anyway, the reason I'm writing about it on here is because I have absolutely no interest in taking drugs to control it. I have read about people managing their symptoms by correcting their brain chemistry by fasting and then eating a raw vegan diet. So that is what I am doing! I was wondering if anybody else has heard of people correcting/managing BD or a similar mental illness with fasting and/or a raw food diet?

Thanks Smiley
236  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Re: Brisbane - February Raw Feast - Location change?? on: Sunday 28 January, 2007
Coolio Smiley I like the Saturday option better too. West End is a lovely spot but I don't know it well enough to suggest an actual meeting spot...so over to you Tim Smiley See you all Saturday xo
237  Locally RAW / Australia & New Zealand / Brisbane - February Raw Feast - Location change?? on: Sunday 28 January, 2007
Hi SHeryl and Piers and all you other lovely folk,

Just wondering if you are aware that the Northey Street Markets are changing over to a Sunday market as of next weekend. So are you still keen to make the feast at the farm on the Saturday or change it to a Sunday so as to still tie in with people going to the markets to do their shopping?! Or if your keen to keep it a Saturday, I had a thought that maybe the West End markets might be a good place to hold the picnic...especially since it's at those markets that the raw cane juice guy sells. Anyway, just some food for thought.

Cheers,
Georgia Smiley
238  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Raw Pregnancy and Kids / Re: Types of Baby Slings & to Pram or not to Pram? on: Wednesday 18 October, 2006
Hi Sheryl,

I have an ergo and a Hatchling Sling (made by a lovely lady here in Brissy). We also used a Kathmandu Back Pack and a pram occasionally now that Malakai is older and tooooo heavy to carry on long walks and he's to young to walk the whole way. But I'd go without a pram when they're younger and just get a secondhand one when they're a lot older. If you want to check the sling/ergo out then let me know and i'll bring them to the next picnic. Also, there is a brissy based comapny called carryingaway.com and Amanda has a HUGE range of slings, carriers, etc and you can go and check them out and see which one's work for you.

Have I missed some news while I've been away??? Are you growing a raw pleasure baby???

240  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / Re: Black Sapote Recipes? on: Wednesday 27 September, 2006
Soak 5 dates...keep the water to go into recipe

soak 2/3 cup of  macadamias...rinse well.

And put them into a blender with the sapote (i used a large one) and if you want more sweetness add a dash of agave syrup and you can add mesquite meal too...just a teaspoon.

Delishious and so creamy. I used it as a filling for a pie and i've used it as a dipping saouce...great with banana, paw paw, apple, etc.

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
