241  FAQ - Check Here for the most common Answers! / Raw Food FAQ / Bruising easily on: Wednesday 27 September, 2006
Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anybody else has had the experience of bruising easily. I went 100% raw about 2 1/2 months ago i think and this last week I have been getting bruises all over my body....small ones and some a bit bigger. But i have about 30 or more and most i don't remember even hitting myself on anything.

Any ideas on what this may be from???

Thanks Smiley

Well, the birthday raw feast was a great success...I think I made a lot of people think about the pleasure of adding more raw foods to there diet!! The pumpkin pie, pecan pie, apricot and macadamia cookies, the sundried tomato, olive and pecan dip, and the vanilla layer cake were all big hits. As was the onion bread whose recipe I got from Panda. YUMMO!!!

Wish you could have all come and enjoyed it with me  kiss
243  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / Recipes - Meals & Snacks / Re: carrot salad on: Wednesday 20 September, 2006
I do a variation of this...

put carrots through my oscar juicer on blank so i get all the pulp and juice in the one container, then i mix in sultanas a dash of maple/agave syrup, juice of 1/2 lime and some dessicated coconut. Let it sit for a little while so the coconut and sultanas can soak up the moisture. Delish!!!! Even my really mainstream eating friends love this recipe! I'm making it for the party tomorrow night too!! YUM!!! So much yummy food, so little time!!!  rolleyes

Hi All,

I've been preparing a feast of organic raw food for my birthday party tomorrow night and I whipped up something tonight that i thought was absolutely delish!!

A good handful or two (probably about a cup for measuring fanatics), a really ripe black sapote, about 5 fresh dates that had been soaked in about 1/4 cup water for a few hours, a dash of agave syrup and about 1/2cm piece of vanilla bean. And blened in the vita-mix till creamy. OH MY GOD!! So yummy...like chocolate pudding!! We dipped our red paw paw, banana, and apple pieces in it and ate that for dinner!! Then I used some for using on top of a yummy pie/slice crust I made today with sprouted and dried buckwheat, soaked dates, and dessicated coconut with a dash of agave syrup all blended up together and then pushed into a slice tin and dehtydrated for about 10 hours. I just spread the pudding over the crust and then put banana slices on top and have put it in the fridge to set overnight. I plan on cutting it up into small squares...each with a nana slice in the middle.

I also made vanilla ice-cream, chocolate ice-cream, sundried tomatoes, caramelized almonds and onion cracker bread today and tomorrow i'm making goodie balls, hommous, pesto, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, sundried tomato and olive dip. And I'm putting out big fruit and vegie platters to dip eat with all the yummy dips.

And Panda has made me a lemon and poppy seed cake for my birthday cake! I can't wait to taste it all and I hope everyone likes it too! I'm going to have to "roll" out of bed and off to the gym on Friday morning after all that yummy raw food!! My body's not used to such nut/fat rich foods...but hey, you only turn 31 once!!!

Wish you caould all come and try my yummy raw experiments  kiss

i can relate to this post this morning. i just want to eat, eat, eat and i feel like crap because i'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANGRY!!!!!  evil evil evil evil

My son's dad is the only person that i get this way about. I've never hated anyone till this man. I'm really struggling at present with my loathing and anger for this man. And I know the only people it's hurting is me and my son through him having to deal with the anger seething out of me at present. I just hate the way it is and  know that's pointless and I need to accept what is and stop struggling/battling against it but I don't know what to do with all this anger energy inside me!! I hate feeling this way. I hate the unfairness. What happened to my ideology of how people can communicate and get along and help each other. And here is someone who continues to destroy my vulnerablity. I feel like I'm turning hard inside. I'm turning into my mother who shuts everyone out emotionally and hates the world.

Any suggestions on how to release this anger energy that's killing me from the inside out?!?!?!

there are still some homebirthing midwives in Qld...contact the homebirthing association. I know a few who are still working in the SE Qld region. And I know lots of mum's who've homebirthed successfully! The way birthing was meant to be Smiley

Hi RFL,

I can direct you to a great organic cafe in Paddington (walking distance from the city) called Fundies...it's attached to a natural food store that also sells organic produce...not the best but will do in an emergency. If you want to PM with where you're staying I could advise you on the nearest and best options for eating/ordering.

What are you out here for? Business or pleasure?

Hope you can make it to the raw picnic at Northey St!  cheesy
251  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: relationships & raw on: Friday 15 September, 2006
I'm having the dilemma at present of my ex feeding our son unhealthy foods and then sending him home to me wired on sugar/salt/meat toxins, etc coursing through his veins. And here he's on all raw as i refuse to cook for him and be 100% raw myself. I figure it's my job to detox him when he's here!!  smiley

But I am finding since I'm single and out there dating that I'm finding it very challenging to meet someone who i know eats foods i won't go near and how do i reconcile their lifestyles with mine?? Are there any raw men out there looking for a smart, independent, cute, mum with an organic food business and a mind of her own?!?!? If so, send them this way  kiss

I think the men I meet when I'm out will judge me for my food choice when in actual fact it's the other way around!! I'd rather be single than compromise something that's so important to my health and well-being. No wonder I'm single....bloody stubborn I am!!  cool

Sounds like you are having a R-AWesomne time Harley....wish I was there with you too!

Everything you say sounds so in tune with how I'm either living or working towards living in this world.

RGN and Joss - one day we'll get him to do a camp out here for all us RAW Aussie Green Smoothie nuts...oh, Neet, you'll love this....inspired by your posts i've gotten into greeen smoothie's over the past month and i made one today before i went out. And as I was getting into my new (secondhand) car to head out i realised that my car was the exact same colour as the deep green smoothie i had just slurped down....and in that moment i realised that my new car had to have a name as all in the past have had....and "The Green Smoothie" is what it will be known as from this day forth  cheesy

Thanks for the inspiration Harley and Neet  afro
254  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / Re: custard apples on: Sunday 10 September, 2006
Yeah, Freedom B, I was thinking it may just be their yumminess....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

How much do you pay for them? I'm paying $2.50/kilo and i saw them for $4/kilo at the markets the other day.

Small price to pay compared to the price of eating processed, sugar and preservative laden junk food when I have sweet cravings I figure Smiley

If I thought they'd make it to WA without becoming custard apple pudding i'd do it for you!!
255  PleasureTalk - The Discussion Area / RAW Chat / custard apples on: Sunday 10 September, 2006
Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know what's in custard apples that my body may be craving?? I've heard they're high in calcium and magnesium. I just can't get enough of them. I've eaten 10 since Tuesday...including 4 in one day yesterday!!! I've never liked them before and now I want to eat them all the time!!

I'm so glad I have access to organic produce as I just rang a friend who's a grower and he's sending up a 10kg box of them just for me tomorrow. Anybody in SEQld want to buy some as i'm not going to get through that many before they go off...or could I?Huh??  rolleyes
