Hi All,

I'm really excited about this next bit. I have been chatting back and forth with Lennie from Food n Sport for quite some time now and was all set to do an interview with Doug Graham. But then I wondered, are the questions I have here really what Raw Pleasure members want to ask? So Lennie and I have chatted some more and I'm pleased to say that you are going to be able to Ask Doug.

This is something that we hope to continue with other raw leaders throughout the world and the answers will be sent out with our newsletter which we will send out with more regularity. If there is someone in particular you would like to hear from then please do send me a pm and I'll add them to my list if they are not already there.

So how does it work? Post your questions below. The raw authors, speakers, leaders, gurus, (whatever you want to call them) are very busy so we have limited this to 10 questions.

Please ask just one question per person.

What happens if I get 20 questions? Well I'll be sending them all on anyhow and the leaders themselves will pick the 10 that appeals most.

I'll be sending this email on the 24th of July so please have them in this thread by then.

Thank you and enjoy!

Oh... I'll have a brief background of Doug at the beginning.

Good idea but remember we have a few days yet. I'm going to propose a question and if I change my mind I will later down the track. My question:

Doug, what do you think is the most misunderstood component of 80 10 10

I have one ohyeah:

following the 811 program you need fruits and veggies in 'very' large amount as your eating lower calorie dense food (less fat) in your daily ratio...

so if your alone eating this way and working/earning good money it might work well , but , what if you have kids and family / friends and/or aiming to become self-sufficient on a fruit and veggie farm ?
Pretty much work hey , you would need a farm nearly on your own or in other case be a millionar to feed your family and shop organicly??

lets take an example from the 811 menu-plan at random from the book to convert it for a 4-head family (considering we consume all an average of 2000 calories)...

12 lb. bananas             = 46 medium bananas a day = around 300 bananas at week
4 oz medjool dates       = 1 1/2 cup dates = 10 cups at week
4 lb. strawberries         = 150 strawberries = 1050 at week
2 lb. strawberries         = 75 strawberries = 525 at week
2 lb. yellow bell peppers= 8 medium = 56 at week
2 lb. oz romaine lettuce = 2 large head = 14 at week
4 lb. romainelettuce      = 4 big heads a day = 28 at week <with above it becomes 42 lettuces a week>
1 lb. red bell peppers    = 4 medium = 28 at week
1 lb. oz strawberries     = 38 medium = 266 at week

thats pretty lots of product to grow or buy hey ?

I personally love fruit and 811 as a great guideline - yet i am unclear on how much sustainable -in terms of budget , practicability, avialibity and in terms of producing/selfsustaining- it is for us and the Planet.

Any thought on this Dr. D , thanks...!

I have a question:

It seems that 80/10/10 is very hard for a lot of people, you hear a lot of people trying it
and not being able to last.
What do you think, Dr D, is the key to success for this way of living?

Thanks

LOL Rudolph , you make laugh and laugh!

RS - Did I ? I hope he is not going to break his head over it LOL...  Undecided
funny hey, i'd like to know what his thoughts on the 'agricultural' and practical point of view of 811 are...
ie. How to sustain a family , community , world on such a diet - in the times we are living.....
i'm sure theres a way to work it out hey... i'm a optimistic-realist after all , but what does he suggest?

thanks for this question tread Jennie... :-)

Dear Dr Doug Graham,

As a scientist, I am acutely aware of the fact that science, despite many popularly held views, is only a mirror of a human current best attempt to understand and describe the nature using rigorous means, rather than an ultimate source of infallible wisdom. It often takes many years before the science notices, studies and eventually validates new ideas, and in doing so completely re-writes the existing theories. Yet the public often demands the scientific validation before accepting the ‘unusual’ pioneering ideas in health and as a result misses out on experiencing the potentially life-transforming benefits of those ideas altogether. The body of the evidence of the health benefits of the raw food diet, a high-fruit-version of it in particular, seems to be overwhelming to those living the lifestyle. Furthermore, the explanation why this lifestyle may be the true human standard diet seems effortlessly obvious to those who have connected intuitively with their biological instincts, or made an intellectual connection with their frugivorous ancestry (which is commonly accepted and cited by the modern science). Yet at the same time the progress of science in noticing this groundbreaking experience seems to be tortuously slow. What attempts do you make towards building the bridge between this body of evidence and the mechanism of validation through science?

There is a biblical scripture (can't recall where) that says something along the lines of "Science...falsely so called"

To me that has always meant (and growingly so) that the presumption that Science can explain or "prove" anything is false. It's like....immediately starting a journey on the wrong path that will not...and cannot, lead to the destination it/you seeks.

It starts from the wrong point...seeking to prove the unprovable by means that fall short of what it is actually trying to explain.

You can't use logical processes to explain things beyond the capacity of mere "logic".

I've known this since I was a child...it is so obvious (to me).

It creates opinion based conclusions that hide or disguise the real and true source of actual understanding and reality.

It is an illusion.

Thought processes and proofs are linear by nature.

How can a straight line try and explain a circle?

John
