As Kate Wood pointed out when I went to her workshop, it's just sugar and water. It's brilliant for cleansing, but not for the re-building you need.

Does Ms. Wood have a background in nutritional science?  I have found that many raw leaders do not know much in this regard and have gone with their preference and research like any one of us here does.  Everyone knows that fresh-off-the-tree fruits are amazingly rich in nutrients that also rebuild our bodies, and due to the greater digestive ability, I'm sure those nutrients are better assimilated.

But, I do recognize that a lot of sweet fruit does not do me well unless I exercise like crazy beforehand.  I always think we should go with how we best feel (with inner knowing and our body's reactions, of course), so if more good fats are great for people (and I find citrus is so lovely in a diet with extra fats), then good!

1 hr run/brisk walk today-had to take it easy because I think my recent illness has moved to my chest-feelin out of breath. Arms aching from yesterdays astanga which is a good feeling.
i am drawn to eating sweet fruits, it feels very natural, but I have developed a plan of eating mono meals of sweet fruit till lunch time, green juice then green smoothie, utilising more low GI fruits and less nanas, around lunchtime, then big veg salad with avo and seaweed for dinner. Its feeling good.

Hi Californiaglee, I think that Kate was referring to the under-ripe, over-packaged tropical fruits that end up in the supermarkets here in the UK after travelling half way round the world. So different from picking your own ripe fruit straight from the tree.

Beckyji, your eating plan sounds great. Very balanced and nourishing. Hope your chest clears up very soon.

training going well, split into few shorter sessions.
Thanks to GG inspiration I droped teh fruits completely and later the bread, just nibling on a little fat through teh day with some superfood powders.
Not feeling hungry at all and not feeling thirsty at all.
Before on fruit allways hungry and allways thirsty.
This looks very interesting and very encouraging for future ultra races - less need for food and for water.

I am allways remainded of teh stiry of the guys crossing Antarctica, their main food supply was olive oil
now it makes perfect sense.

anyway went to matster athletics last night and did racewalk completely barefoot, teh track is still new so very sharp-prickly, but it was great and without trying to go hard nearly did a PB - it was only short 800m race.
after that did some more barefoot racewalk training all up more than 3km, feet are OK,
after that I put aquasocks on and did 4 km run, but that was not feeling very good, so will likely do all masters track racing barefoot.

To me barefoot vs shoes equals healthy veg nutrition vs SAD diet.

so am battling it on both fronts, it kinda suports each other.

Hey Rudy, very interested in your barefoot running. I have read a bit about it- would like to try the vibram five fingers. I am living quite rurally at the moment, a lot of my running is on dirt roads, so I feel like I would need something on my feet.
On Monday, I did a 11 k walk in 1hr 15 min. Yesterday, I only managed 40 mins of mixed aerobics and walking. Today is a mystery so far as my daughter has stayed home from pre-school. may be skipping and aerobics in the evening listening to the ipod.
My diet has also had some changes which I am working with to improve my energy and lingering congestion from recent illness. Basically, reducing calorie consumption for the moment stimulating detox and feeling VERY detoxy, last night going to sleep my body felt like one big throbbing headache. Doing mainly water, juice and a bit of gs.

Ok-perhaps I got the time wrong Rudy-it was def less than 1 hr 30 mins though, and maybe I did run down some of the hills just for the fun of it.
I just had the most fantastic workout. My daughter decided to go to pre-school after all. As it was pouring outside, I did a very high intensity cardio workout for 60 mins to pumping techno. I began the workout with 5 sun salutes as warm up. I then did 10 min warm down of low intensity movement, then 10 mins of abs crunch,  squats, lunges, push ups, tri dips-each till muscle is tired and can't keep the form. Then 10 min of static yoga postures. I felt the best I have in a long time. For a few weeks I've been not so full of life-I do the exercise but it doesn't give me the wonderful feeling I had today. feel really like I'm gaining back my form.

on the barefoot.org I found this explanation, it is only part of teh article:

Yes, even if you have been running with shoes for decades, Running Barefoot really is a new activity, and, as with most new activities, there is a new vocabulary to learn with Running Barefoot. More importantly, we need to start thinking about running in a whole new way.

We might talk about our feet touching, carressing, or kissing the ground, but “striking” the ground simply hurts too much while Running Barefoot.

We might talk about the slow, plodding, jarring strides of joggers in heavily cushioned shoes, but jogging would be very uncomfortable while Running Barefoot.

The continued use of such “innocent” words, like “jogging”, or “striking”, or “pounding”, etc., has too much potential for conjuring up the wrong images, the wrong impression of what Running Barefoot is about.

The images we paint with our words, especially with the internet available to so many people, can be seen by millions, perhaps billions of people, and these people will carry those images away from their computers to their next run. So, by calling a gentle foot landing, a “foot-strike”, many people will get the wrong idea about Running Barefoot. They might run, slamming their bare feet into the ground, just as they did while running with cushioned shoes, and get the idea that they’re not tough enough to run barefoot.

Contrary to popular opinion, not only am I not “tough”, nor do I need to be tough to run barefoot, I’m actually a whimp! I run barefoot because I find I’m not tough enough, or callused enough to run any kind of distance with shoes torturing my feet. It is the great deal of natural sensitivity in my soles that encourages me to run very lightly, gently, softly, smoothly, and efficiently. It is the light, gentle, soft, smooth, efficient running, which I learned, while barefoot, that allows me to run faster and further and longer than the average shod runner.

Rudy do you remember when you posted a blog here somewhere about an Australian barefoot runner? That was extremely interesting. I've tried to find the link but cannot for the life of me remember where it was...
