Wow, that's two great new smoothies from you girls. I've got to try both the blueberries and dill ideas soon. The last couple of days I've been trying to use up all my existing fruit & greens, because I'm going away to Tassie for a week on Saturday, and don't want any nasty surprises when I get back. Damn those pears that just won't get ripe though (hopefully they'll survive in the fridge til I get back).

Today's green smoothie:

Lots of baby bok choy
Handful of coriander
2 frozen bananas
4 very ripe plum-jammy Angelina plums
1/3 punnet frozen strawberries
Maca & water

Tomorrow I get to have my first parsley blend as I need to use that up. I have heard good things....

Neet,

I'd be really interested to know what you think of the dill.  I've still got a bit of a dill flirtation going.  Used it again today with a whole bunch of muscatels and bananas + baby spinach.

It's just great.  The muscatels were divine - thank goodness the seeds sink to the bottom - they're bitter little things en masse!  Ewwww.

Tomorrow's going to be a "poor man's" gs I think.  Hallelujah for bananas and my basil on the window sill.  Actually, I've got a couple of oranges and apples too - so things perhaps not as dire as suspected.  cheesy

Raspberries.  mmmmmmm

MMMM, the parsley is good! Mixed up:

Chinese broccoli - 1/2 bunch
Cos lettuce - 1/4
Parsley - big handful
2 frozen bananas (why do I never go beyond 2 frozen bananas? oh well, seems to work for me)
1 just ripe pear
Handful of frozen strawberries

It was divine!

Tomorrow morning I am mixing up a big thermos-ful, in addition to what I have for breakfast, to see me through the drive from Canberra to Melbourne. Getting the boat to Tassie tomorrow night, by which time my smoothies will have run out and I'll be suffering withdrawal symptoms  But, fortunately, my blender's coming with me and will be eagerly unpacked upon arrival in Tassie, after, of course, a quick trip to the green-grocer's for essential greens & fruit. Looking forward to a week of beautiful Tasmanian produce....

miss gs,i found the dill addition very nice indeed,it did put a different slant on the gs...will be doing that again...oh sounds like your gs tomorrow will be more than just any old thing,it should be rather tasty...a nice change is to actually juice the apples too..hey doesn't you blender pound up the little seedies from your muscatels..shame,not to worry eh..oh and i have to tell you,i really enjoyed the raspberry addition, but not as much as the blueberries...

heh heh, miss M,the thermos full of gs is really catching on eh! we could walk down the street anywhere, and if we had that thermos in hand,we would be instantly recognisable to each other, even though we have never met!

miss gs,enjoy your fresh produce shopping tom with your fabulous friend!hey,my best girlfriend, has been eating around 80-90% raw,i am so proud of her,she is proud of herself, and tells me what she's been eating at every turn..i love it...
and it all began with the humble gs...........*sigh*

i must try that basil combo....
i'm a bit scaredy of doing elaborate gs in my blender.... i did get some grapes for them though.

Ah motherwytch - nice to meet another fan of the gentle Farmer Hoggett.

I don't know who I had more of a crush on - the farmer, the pig or the duck.  Ferdinand was a bit of a dill, but he WAS an Indian Runner, and they are my fave duck.

I love the 'the pig and the farmer regarded each other' comment that you made to your husband.  That's beautiful.  I chuckled.

By the way - it's in another thread, but I wouldn't know where to begin to look - Jordan Almonds in the Raw.  I tried them!  And, you wanted to know what they were like dehydrated.  Well, your wish is my command.

I soaked and dehydrated the almonds, then did the mix, then dehydrated again.  They turned into beautiful candied almonds, and were scrumptious.

I was a bit wary I have to admit - my head thought salty + sweet would be weird, but they are so lovely.  And I took a very fine photograph of them which could make it into the e-book, but I'm not sure.  So, two thumbs up for Jordan's almonds!

When I was in country Tasmania this week I was befriended by some locals, who happen to farm turnips. They knew I was vegetarian (I didn't go so far as to explain the vegan let alone raw vegan thing as they were completely baffled by meeting a vegetarian, and I wasn't dining at their place so it didn't need to come up), so they provided me with some turnips.

Of course I immediately had to try the greens in a green smoothie. The blend was:

Turnip greens
Mixed salad greens
Persimmons
Frozen bananas
A few mixed berries

It was a winner! The turnip greens are very smooth and delicious.
And very grounding as well.

Little did my farmer friends realise that this was to be the fate of their turnips (with the roots grated up for salad). If they thought I was whacko for not eating meat  this definitely would have confirmed that opinion. Hehehe.

MM thanks for that, sounds yummy, and i must say i haven't actually tried grated turnip in my salad mix-shades of eww in my mind, when mum use to cook it in stew when i was little.yuk yuk, double ewwww....i will venture out and try it though, cos we all know how cooking just destroys the tastes and textures of raw food....

-_-aww, Miss G! so glad you liked the almonds... i should start saving for a dehydrator! i have a soft spot for that pig and his farmer... i also really like Ma.
alas, no green smoothies for days! no ripe nanas at the hfs... i am going through withdrawl! the last i had were (hubby's fave combo): greens, water, pineapple, coconut meat, nanas. came out the color of pistachios and absolutely delicious. this was the only combo hubby has made by himself in abundance- he made 2 batches in a row and even had to open another coconut to do so! he didn't even want to share the last glass with me... but he did cheesy

ripe plump pears, blueberries, seeded grapes, fresh orange or apple juice(do yourself)celery juice...pear juice is very thick too,so that could make up for the lack of bananas, strawberries with green bit intact are also delish, and fanatastic if you suffer from headaches...hope this helps...
