just reading through this tread has made me aware of how important it is for us women to make sure we are getting enought fats in our diet. I think we have been made to believe that they will make us fat and that is hard to let go of, but in reality they are what will keep us trim and keep our bodies working properly. Our hormones rely on them, and i also feel that the lack of fats may be another reason why menses cease. It's hard to fathom though when eating a fairly low fat diet and you feel fantastic!!, heaps of energy, with spirits high!!!

As for the coconut oil I have been told that it helps the body to utalise, assimilate and break down other fats, especially bad fats, which none of us eat anyway. The other thing is that coconut oil and flax oil are supposed to be a great combination, David Wolfe i think said that. I have some other great recipes with the grated coconut, will post them in the right place though.

I fully understand your grief with fats Neet, i am the same but am finding coconut, olives, avocado and occassionaly flax great! Nuts make me feel like i am trying to digest concrete!!! it's not good. Small amounts now and then and have to make sure they have been soaked.

As for my big run on Sunday, well i didn't do it, Wintersun was on and it was packed around here so we wondered around there instead, will get into it next week, quite like having my weekends off though!!!!!

As for the itching thing, interesting......it does make you wonder about all the sugar in the fruit, but like Sheryl said we are all different. Is anyone on low fat/high fruit getting dry skin and hair, i would be interested to know. It is wonderful that you all share your experiences with raw, fitness and how diet affects us. We can all only become so much more fitter, healthier and happier! Fantastic.

chow for now

yeh,Karen, love my avos too,the safe fat for me,and the small small amount of soaked seeds blended is cool too, haven't really tried the coconut meat thing....but i will when i have proper instuction from the master *grin*...haven't really got into flax...yep,when eating high fruit, gotta gotta have high greens or itchy bitchy scritchy comes to visit, since eating more celery and celery juice everything is sweet so to speak...skin not dry, same as always, very good actually, and i must say that i certainly don't have an oily scalp, which keeps my hair cleaner longer,bonus...

esp when we are little workouts demons we need our fats and our cals,,that's for sure...and it does make me feel awesome rawsome loads of energy,no slowing me down..

Wow!!!!

I almost gave up on you guys...I posted this ages ago smiley

Well wish I could post pictures here as I have made many changes:huh:

go here to see changes

http://s12.invisionfree.com/FLF/index.php?showtopic=180&st=0&#last

I'm now where I wanna be!!!

I have had a very strange emotional feeling come over me in the last week, as if my Fruitarian/transition journey has come to an end, almost as if I have finally reached my destination at last.

Over the years it's been my desire to share my transition period with anyone that would listen and in that time I've absorbed much negativity, especially in the beginning, so this is a particuly happy time for me.

Anything else now is a bonus!!

I've always been athletically built to the point where as soon as people look at me they automatically assume I'm a health freak I've recieved various comments about my build and having looked back over the years up to now I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Raw Vegans and SAD eaters see with different eye's!

Through many SAD eaters eye's a Raw vegan althlete is too skinny and weak and through a Raw Vegan's eye's a SAD athlete is bloated and swollen.

I think that we are all used to seeing things a certain way and this way changes once we go Raw because we lose the waste, fats and retained water from cooked foods.

I'm glad everyone is getting out and doing there thing!!

One of my goals is to teach myself the one arm chin up

Here's my first stage video's of each arm, it's not pretty but I've gotta start somewhere.

I'm just gonna throw myself in at the deep end and practise with my hand on my bicep.

Right arm

Left arm

It can only get better.

Hi All

OK I'm in. I've lost 40 lb since December and 32lb of the 40 since February. I used to dabble in weight training in between pregnancies (I've got 6 kids under Cool but haven't got back into it full swing.

Been 100% raw for 4 months and really need to put some muscle back on and tone up. Been left with a yucky stretch marked wrinkly belly from so much weight loss.

Will work out a program of what I want to do and get to it with no excuse as best I can around 6 kids who are a 24/7 job as I homeschool and am still breastfeeding my youngest at 9 months.

if your back is good you can pick up your kids daily and give em a hug.

or wrestling

or a weekly run race at the local oval. the fastest kids get a handicap etc.

a walk around the neighboorhood spotting raw plant food. 7 eyes gotta find something!

am getting massive benefits with my  daily 12 pushups, 10 seconds of legs stretching and 60 seconds of running. my posture has improved and my leg flexibility is better. my running mindset is starting to turn on.

last night i ran the 60 seconds on my bed!

something is better than none!

No my back is not too good and I have cracked my tailbone 5 times during the birth of my last 5 babies. I know getting back into weight training with strengthen it because I have done it before.

If I wrestle my kids I might get hurt. After all the weight I've lost I only weigh about 105lbs now. My oldest 2 are 8 and 7 and they are big boys. I have 5 boys and my last is a little girl. They are rough and I don't think I'd come of too good.

We go to walks to the beach and park. I'd like to get out with the pram on my own so that I can walk a bit faster.

My 7 year old has a slight weight problem too but since we moved to near the beach and he got a new bike he has been heaps more active and will loose it no problem.

We have Tai Bo, Kickboxing and Yoga DVD's that we can all get into as well.

Push ups I can do well on my knees, sit ups. We have a stairclimber and a good weight bench with lat pull down and a preacher curl attachment.

We also have a boxing stand and we all have mits.

Thanks Raw'green'Neat

Wish I did feel fabulous and like soaring like an eagle.

At the moment I don't have heaps of energy or feel that fabulous at all actually. Really tired but I do get through a busy day with 6 kids 24/7 and all the household stuff associated but with help from my husband too.

Could be that my body is just very run down from all the stresses of the past 4 months with my husband Carl being sick and detoxing etc. I'm still suffering with my asthma and a lot of food combo's make me feel really sick. Find that simple food combinations or mono are best.

Hi Rainbow,
I've been a bit quiet on the forum lately but I was really touched by your story.  You truley are a superwoman so well done and a big welcome.  Sounds like you're detoxing pretty hard and with all of your daily pressures it's hard going.  I will just say hang in there.  With the weight loss there are going to be toxins floating back through your system on the way out, and they are always worse coming out than going in.  I found that I actually got pretty thin before I started putting back on tone and muscle.  Apparently this is quite normal as your body re-adjusts to it's ideal shape and weight.  I agree with Neet that mono foods really help out and lighten the load on digestion.  In fact I've just recovered from a nasty gastro bug which was nailed quickly with a bit of fasting and some mono meals.  You will hear people say that it's all worth it once the transitional effects die off........ and I will say it again.  Believe that there is a fantastic light at the end of the tunnel because there really is.  Best wishes and best of luck to you  smiley
