I have been using coconut oil to cleanse/moisturise/everything for a while now and love it.

I also recommend floral water for dry skin or for a pick up. Floral water is the water passed through when extracting an essential oil and is therefore a very mild version of the oil itself. I am using rosewater at the moment which is good for dry and sensitive skin. It makes it so soft. You can also get the water from other oils such as neroli, lavender, witch hazel etc which all have different properites.

Another lovely relaxing pickup for the skin and mind is to soak some either fresh or sun dried peppermint and/or camomile flowers (or other herbs or flowers) and then wet a facewasher in the water and lie down and put it onto your face breathing in the aroma and relaxing. It makes your skin really soft. The peppermint is a great pick up and the camomile has a lovely calming effect on both the skin and mind. I love mixing the two for a relax and refresh at the end of a long day - simply divine.

That sounds lovely! We don't have a bathtub... and I don't think the laundry sink would have quite the same feeling... perhaps a sheep trough in the paddock, under the moon...

Hello

Where on earth would I find coconut oil? (stupid question I know) And what do you use as the moisture bit? Some cold pressed oil- where would I find that as well? Sorry, I'm still very new to this...

Try your local health food shop Shells. I get my cold-pressed almond oil from mine, and it isn't a big shop by any standards. I have seen coconut oil in there too.

I'll do my usual recommendation - jojoba! It's a plant wax rather than an oil, doesn't go rancid, natural SPF 8, washes out of fabric easliy (if you get it on clothes or towels), also great for fur balls for cats Smiley  and jojoba doesn't clog drains  (coconut oil is famous for clogging up domestic bathroom drains in India)  jojoba is the BEST oil for putting essential oils in for them to be absorbed into the skin, and it is a fantastic eye makeup remover.  You can put jojoba on grubby skin, rub it with wet hands, it should emulsify a bit into a milky liquid, splash off, and then use more jojoba as the moisturiser.  You only need to add essential oils to the final moisturiser mix becaus ethey will be in contact with the skin long enough to do something, you can put it in the cleanser bit, but that will be mainly for fragrance rather than benefits for the skin becaus eyou rinse it off fairly quickly.
Jojoba meal is great for a gentle scrub for face or body too Smiley

Kiwi fruit and green papaya are the about the best enzyme exfoliators you can get - it's not the fruit acid in them so much, it's the enzymes eating off the dead skin cells and stopping when they get to not totally dead skin cells.  Fruit acids can eat away into the not totally dead skin cells if you leave them on for too long, so they can do a very mild burn.  Fruit enzymes tend to just leave you feeling a bit too tight if left on for too long, rather than burnt.

Simply massage on cold pressed oil (almond, sesame and coconut are great) into your face with gentle upward strokes, then gently towel it off.

I wash / cleanse my face morning and night with 100% pure Jojoba oil (gently wipe off with a damp cotton wool pad or a warm damp face cloth)

I then use some of the Badger Balm products to moisturise (lately I have been using their Baby Badger Balm – a mixture of organic extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, calendula extract and essential oil of chamomile)

And that is pretty much my daily "beauty" rountine.

In the past, I have used cold pressed oils (almond, sesame, wheatgerm, coconut, avocado etc....) to moisturise my body after a shower.

I think I will also have a go at your suggestion.

Ok, so I invested in some coconut oil and have used some kiwi fruit, and I did like their impacts- but what is a good natural exfoliant? I have a disgusting amount of bulging pores on my chin and on my nose.

An absolutely fantastic face and body exfolient is Fine Himalayan Salt mixed with jojoba oil. I keep a jar of this in the bathroom making a fresh batch each week.

When I do a full body scrub I use sunflower oil as ity is cheaper. Sometimes I add essential oils as well but these can sometimes agravate.
Make sure you stand in the shower or bath as it can get a little bit messy
afterwards washing off just pat skin dry leaving a little bit of dampness...you won't believe how silky smooth your skin will feel.

Also we try to go to the beach once a week so I lay in the shallow water and using handfuls of wetsand rub all over my body. Its so invigorating.

Shells, I use a facial brush that I picked up from my local health food store. I have seen them in lots of different places, including target and the body shop. It does a great job of keeping my face clean and fresh.

I believe table salt is treated bleached etc so I wouldn't use it but still i suppose if it is all you have. Himalayan salt is about $19.95/kg a little pricey but should last you a long time.

I'm a little naive when it comes to beauty routines, but how would you use the kiwi fruit, green papaya or whatever else on your face?  Do you mush it up and then put it on your face like a mask; if so, how long are you supposed to leave it on for?  Or do you just keeping gently rubbing it on your face and then wash off?

And what is 'jojoba meal'?  Is that jojoba oil with some sort of nut meal added in?

Thanks

Shells, I use the brush while having my shower. I used to use almond oil as a moisturiser afterwards, but I haven't needed to for weeks now - ever since I stopped using really hot water.

Rita, Some of them are made into masks and usually 20-30mins is enough. For a quick treatment, simply cut the end off a kiwifruit or a strawberry and rub straight onto the skin, then rinse with cool water. Eat the rest of the fruit for a complete beauty treatment!
