I was reading one of Storm and Jinjees e-books about how to get kids to enjoy a raw food diet. I was surprised to read that a couple of their kids dont like green smoothies. I was sure that all kids would have to love these deliscious beverages!?

Anyways, the other day when I made a green smoothies and put beetroot in last it looked fantastic and like a 'Toffee Apple' drink (and tasted great of course!). I thought that maybe making multicoloured smoothies might make them more popular with kids?

I made another today and here is a pic (not sure if it will work but I'll give it a go)...

I also remebered that when you put a beetroot in your green smoothies then they turn a beautiful shimmering velvet red colour. So if kids have been programmed to be 'anti-green' then this might be a good solution.

For a green smoothie revolution!

I'm not sure if you're using the beetroot root or leaves. I use the beetroot greens and it does the same thing, turns it pink, because of the red stalks. Soooo yum and lighter than using the roots. My 3 year old still won't drink it though Wink

My eldest son (now 5) used to luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurve his green smoothies for breakfast until he turned 3...only recently has he started showing an interest in them again. I found that it helped for him to be totally involved in the whole process..so he grew some of his own greens and then we pick them first thing..our current favourite is a combo of baby spinach, sunflower sprouts, baby kale, and lemon balm plus mango, banana, & pineapple. We then pretend to be caterpillars slurping down the lot! He is really into bugs so i thought if we made a game out of it he might be a bit more enthusaistic..and it worked! every so often he even surprises me and asks for seconds. laugh

I say get them into it as young as possible! My 9 month old just luuurves my green smoothies and whenever he sees me with them makes much noise till I share with him! He also loves smoothies without greens and thinks mango/young coconut custard is delicious. I hope he stays this way.
