Is it safe for baby if I fast one day a week or maybe even once a fortnight? Have considered it and my digestion seems really sluggish so thought this might help. Just don't want to do the wrong thing.

follow your instincts, Rabbit  smiley
i think it is more important to be aware of any changes while fasting as to light headedness and things of that nature. one day fasts done so infrequently (but regularly) shouldn't cause any negative side effects.
just remember to break the fast gently... maybe even going into the fast gently may help.

how's the family (and you and that little womber?)

Thanx for the input MW. I may just try the fast thing maybe try doing an OJ day and see how that goes. I have this terrible problem that I see what the children are having and sometimes want it and eat it when I really don't want to or even am not hungry!!! This is one of my discipline issues or should I say a self control issue. I hate admitting my downsides but that can def be one! Maybe this is why my system seems sluggish? Not enough rest from it's digestive labour?

Anyhow, I am consciously working on it. I fall down and I getup again and it is getting better. I guess you gradually get in tune with yourself.

Good question.. have been thinking the same myself lately! Im 20 weeks pregnant with my first lil mango baby (it graduated from peanut size, to apple and now to scrummy mango size this week lol)
I ordered a bunch of ebooks from Storm and Jinjee last week, and The Orange Juice Diet ebook was one of them... They call it a Diet as opposed to a Fast as calories are still consumed (as opposed to being on a water only fast) and I read in a FAQ section that Jinjee recommends following your instincts when it comes to doing this sort of thing while pregnant which sounded pretty logical to me... considering that Im fit and healthy and so is Mango, I might try it and see how I go, but am definatly not going to put any pressure on myself to stick with it for the whole two weeks (even a day or two should give my digestive system a bit of a rest) and as long as I return to eating solids sensibly (sp?), I think it may be just what my body ordered Smiley
I think maybe just follow your instincts and don't push yourself! I'm still going to keep taking my raw organic pregnancy supplement and may consider drinking some coconut water as well as its ment to be good for breast milk production etc... hmmm.. well ill keep thinking about it, as i do not wanna cause my lil bubba any distress.. i guess my main concern is that apparently for the next few weeks the baby needs lots of good fats (avocado, coconut, flax oil etc etc) to help develop its brain more and thats the only thing im unsure if it would get enough of if i drank only organic oj for two whole weeks... so i think maybe a day or two may be the way two go then resume eating my yummy avos and coconut Smiley

Hmmm ok, so i think this post was just me nattering things out in my own head, but maybe it helped? lol

KT, Idid a juice fast yesterday - oj in the morning, veg juice at lunch when I felt I needed something, then oj again after I had organised everyone elses dinnerabout 7pm. I felt quite drained in the avo so took it easy and ended up in bed early to give the body some rest.
I am 16 weeks pregs and babe is going great guns. I do not go for checkups tho, choose to stay away from hospitals and doc's but it is no.8 for me so I guess you could say I've been around.
I decided I would try this juice fast once a week as I don't want to fast completely and see how I go. I am hoping that progress will show in digestion and energy. I also have to watch emotional eating- will also help the digestion.
Keep me posted on how you go with your fasting if you decide to do it. I also have Storm and Jinjees ebooks. She found tahini great for breastmilk. I have also heard of others, fenugreek seeds being one that I used by sprouting and mixing in a salad of other sprouts, tomato and avocado, and a few other random things as desired. It was yummo!!

Hey Rabbit,
Glad to hear your fast went well!

I decided to fast yesterday too (on fresh oj) and had a juice for brekky today. I tried to find a young coconut today but they had just sold out Sad  so I decided to have 1/2 an avocado with 1 tsp of flax oil for the fats today for lunch (so i didnt techincally fast today... then again, they say your not technically fasting if you consume anything other then water, but you know what i mean! lol) I've had another juice since then but am not overly hungry, so am drinking water more then anything! If I'm feeling peckish tomorrow I'll happily have something to eat but am enjoying my OJ atm Smiley Maybe Ill just have a green juice tomorrow if im not feeling hungry...
Keep me posted with how your going and if you decide to fast once a week Smiley

hello beautiful pregnant mamma's...have been reading loads on fasting lately,as you know it's of huge interest to me...

DR.Joel Furhman DOES NOT recommend fasting when pregnant, just thought i would pass this on,couldn't find anything in paul braggs fasting book re fasting whilst pregnant, and have only started Herbert Sheltons fasting book...

Neet - Fasting (as in abstaining from all caloric foods and beverages) is NOT recommended whilst pregnant and/or breastfeeding...
However, that is not what we are talking about - we are talking about consuming juices (green juices packed full of vegies and nutrients, fruit juices etc etc) for only a day or so at a time. The calories consumed during this time are still often around 1500, however the nutrients consumed at this time are usually more then i could possibly cram into a day.
I have found that being pregnant, I am much more in tune with my body and thus I trust what my body is telling me. I eat all raw, and on the days i've decided to consume juices, i have felt better then ever. I have also taken the precaution of continuing to take my raw, organic pregnancy vitamin and a mixture of avocado and flax oil to ensure my lil mango still received the fats needed for the day.
This may not be desierable for everyone, but for me it has worked fine. Jinjee - being a MOTHER of FOUR , has stated in her ebooks that consuming juices (especially fresh organic orange juice) may be what the body ordered and again advises to listen to your body.

Thanks for your imput though.
