OK...we all know skin tone/condition comes from the inside...so what's the best things to eat / drink specifically for good skin tone?

I know a general raw diet is great for the skin but are there any specific things that work well for the skin?

oh, i just started eating a bit of cucumber all day yesterday and the day before.  maybe that's why i got a piece of white acne on my face.  perhaps it's a why of getting cleaned out through my face.  interesting  it's just one.  it hurts too; i put some tea tree oil on it.

what Jen said.... smiley

cukes are amazing for the skin, avos and olives awesome too...Trampolining will help with toning your skin also, complete cellular body workout..exercise is vital for young firm glowing skin, oxygenates and circulates the blood promoting a very healthy skin and body..

Raw is awesome for your skin, keeps the collagen and elastin active therefore supporting your skin beautifully..fruit is incredible for cleansing the body, therefore leaving you with amazing skin.

Somehow I was thinking of you both when I posted this one Wink  Thanks RGG & Jen.

I've been adding cucumber into my gs lately.  Also have been more dedicated to juicing (carrot, beet, spinach, cucumber and apple usually) and my dd's excema has cleared up heaps as she's been dowing this mix daily. Smiley

Sorry was in a bit of a rush yest when I posted! For additional info ...

The nutrients required for skin include -  Vit A, Vit C, Vit E, Zinc, Silica, EFA's, H2O  etc

So on a raw food diet you will cover most of these bases....

Maximise  Vitamin A from orange/yellow/red fruits and veggies
Lots of citrus and berries for Vitamin C and bioflavonoids
Pumpkin seeds and other seeds for maximum zinc
Cucumbers (esp the skins) for their silica content
Good fats and oils for Essential Fatty acids (coconut, olives, flaxseeds, avocado, nuts, seeds, greens etc)
Make sure your water you are drinking is clean!!

Also Lots of antioxidants from foods that stain the fingers (berries, beetroot)

In terms of juices, I prefer to juice my veggies (esp root veggies)  and eat my fruit.

So a great juice for skin would include something orange/red (carrots, beetroot),  some cucumber, some celery, green leaves, apple  etc.  If you can find some dandelion leaves throw them in, as cleansing the liver will cleanse certain areas on the face.

Is it a particular area of the face that you get bad skin?  For example pimples along the jaw line and chin are often associated with endocrine function, or hormonal disorders like PMS.  Whereas pimples and bumps on the forehead are indicators that your digestive system needs a good cleanout.  A vertical deep furrow between the brows can indicate liver sluggishness, whereas other facial frown lines down from the mouth can indicate the spleen needs work. Veins close to te surface/ broken capillaries indicate digestive enzyme insufficiency or hypochlorydria (low stomach acid).

Finally got round to saying Thanks Jen for this great post.  Actually my usual juice is carrot, beet, spinach, cucumber & apple...so I've been doing the right thing without realising it!  Spots...yep...jawline & chin.  Vertical furrow...yep..that's me too!  Very interesting!

jen,

thanks for all that great info.  i've been getting pimples off and on above my chin, not in the center of it.  i would put tea tree oil on and it would go down, but i feel the bump again tonight and wondering if this is an endocrine issue, what sorts of foods should i try to eat?  i don't have any pms problems, never really had that issue frequently.  i seem to be battling candida though off and on.  never has gone away.

wonder if anyone has dealt with pimple issues.  i'm sure i should just keep eating lots of greens.  i'll just keep eating them in my lovely nori wraps.  yum!  oh, could eating it with lots of avo be causing the pimple problem too?

thanks for any input,

sandy

overindulging in raw plant fats, oils nuts and seeds can give you acne....greens yes!! are a must have to balance the sweet fruit intake necessary in a raw vegan eating plan, and for mineralising the entire body.

I use to have terrible acne before going all raw 3 years ago,had it for years..

I have good skin and I eat 1 avocado every day. I only have a small one , or half a large one. Avocados have never given me pimples. Neither have nuts. They just make me constipated for days and days and days.............
