I never heard of eating all raw until I accidentally happened across your site. You really inspired me! I started going all raw this week - I'm loving it so far!

My question is about buying dried foods and nuts in the grocery store or healthfood store. How do you know if nuts, raisins, dates, dried fruits, etc. are REALLY raw? How do I know if they've been dried at a high temperature and (eek!) cooked or not?

I was reading the FAQs and read about "raw" cashews not really being raw - oh, no! I wonder what else I'm buying that might not be really raw?

(I just bought an Excalibur dehydrator online - I'll be able to dry my own food soon. But until I do, or if I want to buy something, what should I do?)

Thanks for your guidance!   cheesy

i had the same questions when i started out too.

so i would just phone the distributor and get info direct. if they couldnt answer my question i would not buy their products anymore.

if im sampling a recipie that has questionable cashews or spices, im cool with that. over a year it only adds up too a few handfuls of questionably raw produce.  there are a few places that do quality raw cashews in america. local organic fruit seems to be the most low temp dried. a couple of phone calls will help you form your individual conclusions.

for me eating a cooked bowl of food is different to eating some sultanas that may have been warmed over 48celcius. it doesnt have the same intentions associated with it.

im yet to meet someone whom has had health issues from eating a few handfuls of 'rawish' produce over the years.

thats the beauty of fresh organic produce. what you see is what you get.

See if your nuts and seeds are living and viable buy seeing if they sprout!

Thanks!    cheesy

This is only my first week raw, but it feels so good - I'm never going back to cooked food - yuck! And I have no cravings or desires for any of that stuff, either!

Life is goooooood!!!
