Expect him to be clingy for a while-a separation at his age is a major thing. Co-sleeping and carrying him as much as he wants to be carried will help him heal.

Thank you everyone for all the replies :D
Our boy is doing very well!!! The whole co-sleeping thing didn't work out for us. He moves too much & actually sleeps better in his cot (Which I thought was wierd).. Anyway... He has woken a few times with a night terror - sounds like he is in pain (emotionally not physcially) & on occasions I hear him calling out. His door & our door are both left open so I can hear him better. He seems fine sleeping in his cot & settles back to sleep when I touch him & tell him he's okay & mummy is right here & mummy is not going anywhere without him. Im sure he's felt rejected..

As for a baby sling  yeah right.. Wriggle pot doesn't want to sit still with his mother anymore... lol.. Nar he's alright.. He comes to me for hugs when he wants them & likes to play 'chasey'.. Im sure he cheats though!! Goes under the table & chairs where I cant reach him but he cracks the smiles & giggles out.. Screams even lol... He is happy to sit on our lap & at various times of the day/night he just wants to cling like a monkey.. Other times he wont sit still & doesn't want to be held. But he knows what he wants & I take comfort that when he wants something he comes & gets it.

When we have our next baby though I am sure getting myself a sling (or baby carrier - is there a difference??) So Ill be checking in here & around the place for the best sling to get!!! But doesn't it hurt or isn't it uncomfortable just after birth with a sling?? I found that with the baby carrier that I borrowed for a short time was difficult to hold our baby in (He was 4 weeks old) for long periods of time. & he got REALLY heavy... So I wasn't too keen on the idea. How do other people wear them & does bub get really heavy?? Or am I just weak?? lol

We had been having a bit of difficulty in getting him to eat solid foods (cooked, animal products as recommended by the dietician).. But it seems to be settling down now which is really good.

Anyway.. Just giving an update of how our little man is doing. He's doing great!!!
Thank you everyone for your support & encouragement & advice!!!

I carried my girl in a sling for the first year of her life an dwe both loved it! Get a good sling like from 'baba slings' and no pain what so ever - just brilliant they are. Have to run as my daughter is calling but great to hear you boy is home - hugs to you.

Hi Amy,
Congratulations! I bet you are the happiest mum now that you’ve got your little man home again. You mentioned that you were looking for info on the calorie/nutrient content of foods. There is a very useful program called ‘foodworks’, you can download a 30-day free trial at www.xyris.com.au. You enter the foods and amount eaten over the day and it calculates how many calories/kj’s consumed. It also tells you the amount of fat, carb, protein, vitamins and minerals your son has consumed, gives you a breakdown of the foods and shows which ones provided what nutrient and how his daily intake compares to the RDI (rec daily intake). Hope that made sense! Heard about this from a friend of mine and it is very interesting indeed…after putting in a day of raw vegan eating, my vitamin C intake was skyhigh (about 100x the RDI!) Wow. This would be interesting for anyone who wants to see how their daily eating pattern compares to the recommendations. I’m sure its probably similar to what Joss recommended (http://www.fitday.com.) Hope this helps,

hi amy.  about the slings - i carried both my babies in slings from birth, every day, and my muscles grew with them.  at 1yr old i find it just as comfy (except for wriggly moments maybe:-) if you wait too long or do it infrequently it may be harder.

great to hear how it's all going.  they often seem to work things out in dreamland, and you being there when he wakes i am sure will be very reassuring.

best wishes, merridy

Hi Amy,

We're thinking of you... I'm sure you are doing marvelously and have loved being together as a family again. When you drop by we'd love an update.

All the best,
Sheryl
