must be the same guy, who become my friend through running forum, which we reguraly hijack for walking
and walking is kind of part of ultrurunning. Tim and Grant kind of started tge raw thread on that running foum,
where I psota bit, so this friend is getting info from there, but he mentioned the 2000+ pushups + 27 miles walks without the F1 name, but it was too obvious.

iuse Loco Bandidos for racewalking, track or road, basicaly ideal racewalking sho, very ligh very thin and veru flexible - easy to bend. But I do also train in Dunlop Volleys and KT26, try to get as raw as possible (not raw but barefoot-natural), I also bought Nike frees, and they are good will use them on track, just probs on gravel as the stones are sticking in the sole.

Anyway I am doing 24H walk april 21-22, that friend is doing it too, and thanks to You, Harl and Grant, I am going to do it on fruit only (some greens too ) without suplements etc, so am looking forward to it.

Hey lemme pick your brains those Loco Bandidos , will you be wearing those for marathons too?

I'm trying to get my head around the whole shoe thing and I've seen some thin racewalking shoes and I've heard of people walking barefoot but then I've been told that light weight running shoes are good for the marathons and the thin shoes are best for the shorter distances.

yeah miles and km conversions crack me sometimes! lol!

re the 24 hr..ive never done that time on foot, but have on the bike many a time. emotionally im strong but have to do some miles to build up the running strength to be able to walk my talk.

im just gonna go till i collapse and keep going. something years of training has left me with. ability to push my endurance limits and not get hurt.

Lemme ask you a question Harley....

Have you always had some kind of gift for endurance or did you have to work extra hard to bring it out?

Well Done Bro!!
I just competed in a 50k in Maryland, USA.  After a full day of rain and 400+ runners, the terrain was slow and muddy.  I finished in 5hrs and 3 minutes place 47th and ran on water, bananas, and dates blended!! At 15 miles I drank 8oz of celery+water+banana for anti cramping purposes and it worked well.
Thanks to everybody for their imput.  I have learned alot and am proving that raw/vegan fruits and veggies work best for endurance!!

F1, yes I will be using Bandidos for road marathons too, probably will decide at the last moment at GC road marathon - 1st jully between Bandidos and Frees.
In 3 weeks doing 24H track walk and will probably do about half in Bandidos and half in Frees just to get the feedback and info and experience, will have other shoes there in case on some hot spots from presure points etc
For ultras I bough second pair of Bandidos to accumulate 2 socks startegy and also allow for the feet to swollen up and enlarge which is happening to eveyrybody.

Harly, for the 24H track, You might wanna start doing few hours track session, I know that extreme hills give YOu fitness, however there is thing - running economy, which can be learned only on the same condition - the surface and the total flatnes.
Also muscles are working differently running on flat track, and the fact that You do not get variations from undulations up and down hils etc, will make those muscles very tired. There are stories of extremely fit runners, who could not do well in track races since not used to not changing flatnes. and othere way around, extremely fit
track or road runners who could not run up and down hills, because of different muscles used, not because they were not fit for the hill. It is a specialization.

It is not that a big issue for racewalking, since the racewalking is done on nearly flat courses always, not possible to maintain technique on hilss.

thanks for the tips.

yep what we do in training is what we do race day.  specialised training is vital at competition level.

i like hard mountain days, cos it gives me extra conviction.
