hi everyone -

where's the best organic produce available in brisbane? apart from the obvious northey st markets, where else is good?

i'm currently pondering moving to brisbane but have absolutely no idea where to start looking. as i'm car-less, i'd prefer to be reasonably close to some decent food and such.

thanks

Hi Mangoman! You can contact produce wholesalers United Organics (Rocklea Markets, Brisbane) on (07) 3278 5997 for a list of organic retailers in your local area. They have a  small booklet on organic that lists many retailers. The obvious ones that come to mind are Mrs Flanneries, and I believe there is one in the West End too (never found it though).

Piers and I lived in Brisbane until last year, and found that the Northey Street Organic markets were the way to go. We sourced 90% of our food there.

I'm excited you might be moving there! You can start coming to our raw food picnics the first Saturday of every month! I know you almost came to the first one - remember during mango season!?! Mmmmm......

Do let us know when you're local!

thanks heaps sheryl for the info. still can't decide if i want to swap the sound of silence for the big smoke once again. there's pros and cons to both.

and yeah, i've been meaning to come along to the picnics for ages now. it's definitely right near the top of my "gunnawunday" list. but, alongside general laziness with helpings of forgetfulness, i've fallen off and re-boarded the "wagon" so many times lately i'm starting to feel like a raw impersonator. i guess a little social support may help in this area.

thanks again
