It's really inspiring to see everyone going all natural with the hair. I'd like to suggest something for people especially those that have itchy, oily or generally troublesome scalp or hair. Years ago I used nasturtium and rosemary for my hair. The latter is commonly known to be good for the hair, but now I've just read that nasturtium is also highly recommended, fancy that!
Nasturtium is coming into season in Perth. This is my method for using it. If you have some in the garden, just take a handful of leaves and pound them up with a pestle and mortar, mix with a few tablespoons of water and then strain the green juice for use....
After showering and drying hair with a towel, but while the hair is still slightly damp, massage the juice into your hair and scalp. You can leave it on till your next shower otherwise you can rinse off after a minute or two if you prefer.
The same applies when using rosemary, but with rosemary I find it's better to rinse off otherwise it leaves a kind of sticky substance on the hair. I also i must stress that i didn't find it to be nearly so effective as nasturtium. I find nasturtium much better for the hair and scalp and i would also recommend it for the skin too. In place of soap, adapt the method outlined above...
You can also make a larger batch to keep in the fridge, say about a cup of juice at a time, but it's much better used fresh and it only lasts a few days anyway.
Next time I will copy a recipe from this book i'm reading now that also uses nasturtium, but it's a bit more complicated to make...
