Does anyone do this?

I've read up a little on it and it appears it has merit.

Jumping between hot and cold water seems the best way to go about it.  Hot water brings blood to the skin surface, then hitting the body with icy cold water forces the blood back deep into the body. This promotes blood flow and is particularly affective at helping with muscle strains.  And there is no healing in the body without blood flow they say.

The best example is those crazy lunatics who go for naked swims in those icey lakes when its snowing for purely health benefits it gives them.

Then on saunas .... they increase body temperature. Every degree of temperature doubles the white blood cell count. At 104 F the immune systems efficiency increases 64 times.  It also explains how fever is how the body heals itself to destroy antigens.

Being in the cold Canberra winter I've cycled between hot water showers and then throwing the tap onto the icy cold.  If you ever want a true test of discipline this is it.   I can only manage it three or so times before giving up and not trying it again for weeks.  I think its just too much for me, maybe i'll try it in Summer when the cold water is warmer Smiley    Apparently it also strengthens your nerve force after a while.

Needless to say after actually doing the hot/cold cycle my body felt one million dollars, and a complete overwhelming of energy through the body.

I think it has true value, just a shame i'm such a coward when it comes to Canberra's winter cold water showers Smiley

An easier thing to do is an icy cold foot bath apparenly rejuvenates all organs in the body via the reflex points in the foot.

Jim this is a slight variation on what you are talking about..but this is my experience..

cold showers all year...whether in warm or cold weather...i find are hugely beneficial...it wakes you up,lol!! real quick on a winters morning...

keeps the body temp more regulated..i just dont feel the cold like i use to...i can get out of the cold shower and stand naked on the cold floor in front of the open window with cold air,and not feel cold! but if i did it with warm or hot shower,i would freeze my butt off standing out on the cold bathroom floor!

havent been winter swimming outdoors as yet,but i have been feeling the attraction to do that....

skin is softer with cold water...more hydrated and i dont stand there lolling and turning around and around mindlessly under the warm water as chlorination and chems from the water pump through into my body, through the nice warm open pores....and drying out my skin...

And girls, cold water helps to  make your hair shinier...and your skin just glow...

whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger...

pain is just weakness leaving the body.....

let me know how you find it...warm,lukewarm,cool,cold...

Ech i know canberra is sucky with the freezing cold...id say add a dash of warmth in or else you may get hypothermia lol

yeah apparently it is snowing tomorrow here.  Snowing down to 800m altitude, very rare that it snows that low.

brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

i'll definitely start out lukewarm  cool

by the way I just read your transformational story - that is amazing how far you came.  That definitely goes well and beyond my transformation but I did have some of your ailments just not to your degree.  Isn't it amazing that this is not as mainstream as it should be given the success stories!!

Yeh,it still amazes me after almost 4 years, and meeting so many folks with ailments..that not everyone is raw vegan esp 811!
I think it is too simple for alot of people...how on earth can the food we eat affect our health? doh!!

its easy having cold showers here in the tropics..but ive had my fair share in 3 celcius..outside in the rain and  with tank water that has been 'chilling' for weeks..lol!

i set that personal record last august one night when it was raining..

i think my problem started when my friends put bets against me that i wouldnt jump into a pool on a cold winters night..

i start with feet first then move my body into it. chanting HTFU! HTFU!.

hypothermia aint what we are aiming for. invigoration and simple thrills we are. learn what you can handle and go from there.

Our family batch in Taupo, North Island, NZ - is right on the mouth of a river that runs into the lake. It runs straight off a snow capped mountain. At about midnight, whatever time of the year, the men all play cards and the looser has to run and jump in. Now I say the men do it, because usually the women win, lol. I have kayaked the rapids on that river in the middle of the day and when I have fell in it is like hitting a wall. Your breath is completely taken away from the cold. Feels good though...
