After my very own experiment with the no hair washing, I went to wash Bella today and just couldn't bring myself to use her expensive dog shampoo and conditioner on her. Especially with her canine sense of smell! Anyone got any ideas on how to make a smelly long haired dog clean without store bought stuff?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

We don't bath our dog much as he has ready access to the dams if he feels inclined.

When I do bath him I simply wet, scrub and rinse with a mix of water and lavender oil, tea tree oil or sandalwood oil.

Hadn't thought of lemon-myrtle, might have to try that one.

Side note - A few weeks ago he had fleas. I put a piece of string around his neck that had been soaked in eucalyptus oil and they are all gone.

Thats a great natural flea treatment Dragonfly, thanks! Oh and it's great to see your face, you're stunning!!

Jen, have a look at the Veganpet Shampoo here:
http://www.veganpet.com.au/content/products.php#shampoo/
It doesn't list all ingredients or anything but looks good.

Thanks for the ideas and thoughts everyone. I forgot to enable topic notification and also forgot I'd posted until tonight! So I'm sorry for the delay in replying to you all.
