R'n'F - Make sure you take a few minutes for yourself each day. Somewhere peaceful to recharge. I find a walk great for this.

When I know I am going to have a busy day, I have to make a point of cutting up some fruit in the morning. Otherwise I get busy and grabbing a banana and pealing it seems more work than walking to the closest take-out store and buying horrible, cooked rubbish. I cut up kiwifruit, melon and strawberries to snack on all day. I also make sure I have a good meal at breakfast. Usually a GS or a large fruit salad.

Perhaps you could make some raw sweet treats too, to pick at. I find that making some carob balls only takes five minutes, but lasts us (a family of four) about 2 weeks.

I hope your dad is much improved now. Have a great week!

I finally have a few minutes to catch up with everyone.

BB, I'd love to come over and try some of your fantastic creations but unfortunately this will be a flying visit!! Fly in Thursday afternoon, conference all day Friday and Conference dinner that night and will be leaving the conference early Saturday for flight back. So I won't even get to have a look at Adelaide which will be a shame But I'd love to take a raincheck??

Hi Emi, I know I have to be a bit better organised but there will be an end to these 12-14 hour days and then I can get on with the rest of my life which may just have to include part-time work only. At the moment it's a miracle if I get home before dark.

Raw Sensation, Dad is nearly back to his old self again thank goodness!! It scares me to think what might have been!! He is 74 but has always been pretty fit and healthy so when something like this happens it can be a real wake-up call. This is why I plan to do this longish trip now so that I will be then be available for my ageing parents and hopefully babysitting grandchildren when and if they ever appear!!

Must have a quick look around the boards and then get organised for work. Luckily I only have to work 2 days this week.

Bye for now

Only one more week being in-charge and then I'm FREE!!! Can't wait for Doug's seminar in Sydney. I am going to make it a full weekend in Sydney and go to the Mind,Body,Spirit Festival which is on the same weekend. And then it's off to Byron Bay to hopefully relax for a while. I am really tired at the moment.
I know you will all forgive me for being so slack with my journal but I tend to just grab a bite to eat when I get home and then crash!! It's even unusual for me to leave work while it is light outside.
Unfortunately my father has now been diagnosed with an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm which has to be stented soon. Just one more worry!!
I'm off to bed....need sleep!!! yawn

A triple A.... that's no small problem there but it can be fixed. Your father will be fine. Hugs to you.

Well, it's finally over!!! yahh
I have finished my in-charge stint so I can now relax. It's been ridiculous rolleyes
I have been getting into work about 7.15am sometimes 6.30am and not leaving until about 6-7 at night...sometimes 8.30pm. So of course my eating and exercise has just been all over the place. But I have enjoyed it as well and the staff have been so hard-working and supportive. I was even presented with flowers and chocolates!!!! and cards telling me I did a great job so that was lovely. Of course the actual boss is a dragon so they are all dreading Monday Sad
I crashed into bed at 4.30 this afternoon and slept until 9.30 so of course I am now wide awake but planning to get up in the morning and go for a long walk along the beach (weather permitting) and get stuck back into raw. I am going to Sydney on Friday next week for the raw seminars and then off to Byron Bay for a week.
I have missed everyone here but I am now able to stay in touch as my hours will be lot more reasonable.
Of course my father now has an angiogram on Monday and then the stenting of his Triple A. So that is just one more thing to get through, so need to concentrate on my parents now.
Love to you all and I'm glad to be back ohyeah

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd do a bit of catching up. My life has been in a bit of turmoil over the last 6 months and I need to get back to raw.
I had the first 6 months of the year off as I was going to do a long trip overseas including a stint in Costa Rica with Doug Graham but it all fell into a heap after my father died 11 days after a bypass operation. He had a massive stroke either during or just after the op. That was in February and after making sure my mother was okay I did do a shortened trip to Europe for 10 weeks. Of course my diet was atrocious while I was away. It even included beer!! I was still grieving too so staying raw was the furthest thing from my mind.
So the consequence to all of this is I am the heaviest I have ever been and my blood pressure is creeping up and I hate to think what my cholesterol level is??
It's cruch time!!!
I think I will do a week or two of bananas and celery as a kickstart and see how I go from there.
I am looking forward to catching up with everyone here and  getting re-aquainted.
One very exciting thing to happen though is the day I arrived back from overseas in June my daughter told me she was 12 weeks pregnant. I am to be a grandmother at last!!! We know it's a boy and he is due Dec 17. Can't wait!

It's great to be back!

Thanks for the welcome back RGG and Free!!
Free, I'd love to join you in the bananas and greens week. I've done it before with Doug's help so I know it's a great start.
I'll have a look at the thread now.

I did consider starting a new journal...sort of like clearing the decks but I think I need to see from where I have come. I originally went raw because of my heart disease but still couldn't stick with it and now other medical issues have crept in. I'm having blood tests and scans. I will be getting some results on Thursday but in the meantime I have started back on raw. I don't know how many times I have to be hit over the head but surely this will be enough.
I am clearing my cupboards and fridge of rubbish and when I get through the salad stuff and other fruit I am starting back on bananas a la Doug Graham. I will do a month long clean out and then stay raw.
Unfortunately I am having issues at work as well and have been very close to resigning several times. I think I need a different job to go with my new lifestyle.
I am sure things will be better when I am 100% raw and my first grandchild arrives in 4 weeks. I need to be raw'n fit so I can be around to see him grow up.
It feels so good to be back yahh
