Next week I am going to do  a 3 day water fast, begining Friday 27th -ending on Monday 30th. (last meal thursday)I am really looking forward to seeing how my body reacts and how I feel, mentally, emotionally and physically. Hopefully it will be a fantastic experience and will lead to longer fasts in the future.  Are any of you beautiful people wanting to join me?
We can work up to it, and talk about how we are preparing and eating...what we will be doing and how we are feeling. You dont have to do the whole 3 days, 1/2 a day, 1,2 3 days...whatever, it is all about encouraging and talking together, sharing ideas and experiences...so...who is with me?

Love ya all

Hey BB! Oh I love a good fast! I usually do it once a week/fortnight for a day so I probably won't join u (never say never though) I will definitely give it some thought..
A great website to go on for extra incentive and info is www.freedomyou.com, it helped me heaps when I did my water fasts.  Since going raw I have done a couple of 5 day water fasts and experienced dramatic changes both mentally & physically...also decided to change my name during one!
It's going to be awesome BB, prepare to reap some amazing rewards!
p.s- I posted about my experiences fasting in this section somewhere if u are interested XX

Sounds good to me BB. I will do Thurs/Fri on GS,  Sat/Sun on water, Mon on GS.

Tomorrow I am on GS for two days, looking forward to that. I did a 19day GS challenge in my first month of raw and I really believe that it was the main reason I didn't have cravings or any real desire for cooked foods. Definitely time for a GS and water fast.

EXCELLENT site beautiful Freelearaw...thankyou so much for suggesting it, goes along pretty much with what I believe and will add so much more depth to my fast...I will study it more in the morning.

I now will JUICE fast 3 days before: Tuesday - Thursday
Then 3 days water: Friday - Sunday
Then 3 days JUICE: Monday - Wednesday

I really need to do this, my body NEEDS this and my spiritual needs to be set alight...

So glad you are joining me with your fasting too Dragonfly...looking forward to growing with you.

Love BB

Awesome idea, BerryBliss.

Sometimes I wonder about the synchrinosities in life, I had just decided last night to start a 3 day juice fast today, then I wake up and yours is one of the first posts I see here.

I thought that a water fast would be too hard on me, since I have not fasted before the idea of a juice fast definitely appealed. Thankyou Freelea for the link to the wonderful fasting website, I'll be reading up on the information they give to keep myself motivated.

Started today drinking water with lime juice in it.  Still wasn't feeling anything near hungry at noon (when I had planned to start juicing), so kept up on the water with lime until 4pm.  Just made a carrot-celery-apple juice which is wonderfully sweet and refreshing.  Still wondering when 'hunger' will start talking to me & trying to dissuade! Hopefully not until Tuesday, lol.

Will see how I go this weekend and following week, perhaps I can join you all next weekend as well Smiley

Welcome aboard the fasting boat everyone, I am so excited that we are going to be doing this together, sharing and motivating when it gets tough...I am really looking forward to "after" the fast...seeing the difference in how I feel and look.

Rudolf...err, I dint think I am ready to do a guts wash...for now I just want to fast, perhaps next time round, I will do one with you, please do let us all know how you went and how you feel during and after, I am very interested.

Way to go Waterberry on starting your own fasting, amazing isnt it how long you can go without food and not feel hunger...water witrh lime juice sounds yummy, I love water with lemon and mint...will probaby drink that during my water fasting...and just basic juice during my juice fast...have looked up that site that Freelearaw recommended and they say it is good to alternated between juice and water fasting...I would really love to do a 30 day fast...I will see how I go with next weekend, I feel deep within that this is going to be a life changing experience...just my internal feeling "gut" feeling!
Stine, so glad you will be joining us, you dont have to go 3 days, just listen to your body and see how you feel, even a 24 hour fast is excellent. I dont know how much water you should drink...or when hunger sets in...I think everyone would be different. For me I am aiming to drink no less than 2 litres of juice/water...if I can, then more. Dont know when hunger will set in, gotta think of some ideas to keep myself busy when that time comes...although with kiddies there is always something to do.

I am going to still keep up my walking every day, I was planning on begining a run next week, until I had the urge to fast...so I will begin my running regime after the fast.

Awesome to have you all aboard...and Waterberry keep us posted on what you are doing and feeling...so happy for you that things are working well so far...keep it up, the benefits outweigh the hunger...

Love ya all

Heya, thankyou for the lovely encouragement Miss Bliss Smiley

Stine - I think you should be aiming to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water at least. More if you feel you need it. If you have less than that you could be susceptible to feeling thirsty, which comes across most of the time as feeling hungry - and that could make things more difficult for you!

Okay... an update on what I'd been doing and feeling for day 1: drinking juice to my hearts content!
water with lime until 4pm, then a glass of juice pretty much hourly: carrot-celery-apple x2, fresh squeezed orange, pear-apple-kiwi. I finished the pear juice by 8pm and am just having water before bedtime. I've been sipping at the juices rather than drinking them down. It is taking me between 40 and 60 minutes to finish a glass. On the website Freelea mentioned it says to 'chew' your juice - to make sure each mouthful is incorporated with your saliva to make digestion even easier, so that is what I have been doing. How I have felt?  Firstly surprised that I have only been a little bit hungry, haven't had any stomach growls Wink.  Secondly, I have felt very elated and excited at times.  I think some of the juices were very invigorating and that I am just purely happy that I am doing something good for my body instead of ignoring its health.  I was actually singing earlier today because I felt so happy, hehe.

2nd day of my juice fast is coming to an end.

Last night I had difficulty sleeping, awoke 4 times which was strange because I usually sleep well.  Stomach wasn't really growling, but making little gurgling noises at me.  Bladder was full at one stage too, obviously juice takes a bit longer to go through than just water which I usually drink - as I stopped drinking a few hours before bedtime.

I woke feeling somewhat hungry, so drank juice from morning until thisevening, every hour or two. Drank 9 glasses of juice all up. 4 from the juicer being: carrot-celery-apple-cucumber, pineapple-orange-sweet potato, pineapple-mango-orange-carrot, carrot-celery-apple, 1  coconut water, and 4 glasses of unpasteurised pressed apple juice* that I defrosted overnight.  Have been enjoying the juice immensely, still surprised how good it all tastes when fresh - although the carrot-cellery-apple-cucumber one was a bit icky tasting.  Am experiencing some hunger for the first time tonight; and have had numerous random cravings for dates/seeds/coconut flesh through the day.  Emotions have been very stable today.

There have been competing little voices in my head - one saying to break the fast tomorrow morning - one saying to continue it as long as I can with no plans, just to see how it goes - and one saying to finish the intended 3 days and feel the achievement of doing what I set out to do.  I do think I would like to continue to see what a state of detox is like, I had expected this to be more difficult from the beginning for some reason; and am feeling that because the juice fast is so easy so far, that I am not doing it properly or for long enough?  Not sure exactly what I was expecting, apart from more obvious signs of detox!

* This would have to be the best apple juice I have ever tasted - made from granny smith & johnathan varieties. It's pressed annually at a yarra valley winery, using a huge antique cider press - they make 200L in about 15 minutes, and a crowd gathers to watch.  I think they do this 6 times over a weekend - thats a lot of juice!  They run it through their wine cooling system to instantly bring the temperature down to 4 degrees, then pump it straight into huge oak barrels for decanting into bottles for people to buy. Yum. Now I can't wait until next year to buy more Smiley
