Hello,

I am new to this forum so i will just take a minute to introduce my self.

I am originally from melbourne and currently living in China.

What a challenge it is to be a raw foodist or even try and get healthy in china.
Organic fruits are impossible for me to get here.
i have been a vegeterian for more than 10yrs, and after living in china for more than a year i realized that my health has gone backwards.
About 2months ago, i decided that i wanted to start looking after my health again, so i started eating fruit and vegetables, Only because at the time i was too lazy to cook, later realized that was a good thing and blessing that i was lazy to cook low fat (what i thought healthy) meals.

I have  a sugar addiction and can have around 3 bannana smoothies with at least 2 bannanas in each smoothie, a day and mangoes and watermelons are big for me also.

All the fruit is not organic here as i cant get it,

about a month ago I went travelling for work and got right off the wagon. I ate every unhealthy thing and completly off raw. JUst total Junk.

I have now returned back to china and started my raw eating again on Friday , feeling better already and feeling a few pounds have left already.

Given the fact that i am eating un organic fruit and lots of it, am i doing more harm to my health by eating so much unorganic fruit?
I can get veggies organic here but i am more of a fruit eater, specially mornings.

I guess my diet at the moment is consisting of  over 70% fruit  all not organic.

Cheers,
Emma

Me personally I would say it is fine. I dont eat organic at all cause it is too expensive for us at the moment. So I believe that it is better that you are eating the fruit and vegies instead of all the cooked food that you could have been eating. And you are eating some organic with your vegies so you are better then me.

I think it is a personal thing are you feeling better for eating raw even if all of it isnt organic well then so be it. You do what you can and want to at the time.

Oh and welcome to the forum you will love it here.

For me too much fruit is just enough. I eat pretty much all fruit with a ton of salad greens. My banana smoothies have 8 or more bananas in them. As long as I keep a low-fat diet then my blood sugar stays very steady. When I first started eating raw I ate a lot of nuts and avocados and would get light-headed after eating a lot of fruit. Some people say that fat will keep sugar in the blood rather than letting it get to the cells where it is needed. I think that is true for me.
I agree with pinktulip, if what you are doing is working for you then that's awesome. We all need to find what's best for us personally. Some non-organic fruit can be very good, some probably not as good. But I think all of it is better for you than pizza!

Welcome to the forum Emma Smiley

I don't eat organic either - fruit or veg.  I've been raw since the last day of January this year and my health has gone through the roof, my weight has plummetted by 15 very excess kilos with never a hungry moment (quite the opposite) and my fitness levels have improved out of sight.

I reckon you're doing everything right!

Thanks to all of you for your responses, i feel better now having read your responses. I was concerned as i know most raw foodist do eat only Organic, from what i have read.

I know i am feeling better. Much better than when i was eating cooked/or junk food.

Really appreciate your responses. This Forum is just awesome, i have been sitting back and just reading for the past week or more and feeling very inspired.

I know this has been answered, but I just wanted to add that I don't eat 100% organic. We don't have much access to organic produce either. I have just planted some greens in pots. We are lucky enough to have some citrus trees that are fruiting at the moment too. I do try to buy what is locally produced.

As to too much fruit? Not for me!!! In fact my question has been, how do I get more fruit in???

Before you come to the conclusion that you're eating too much fruit, check out the "How much food can you eat?" thread started by durianrider.

hey emma!!

welcome to the forum =)   a few months ago i went to China for a holiday - and i was trying to eat vegetables so i ate some sort of vegetable on a stick that have been BBQd....  :crazy:got soooo sick and learnt my lesson. i survived a week on just cakes and packages biscuits! and after a week i felt soo urrrghhh! I guess im trying to say i understand how hard it must be for you! so considering the circumstances i think you are doing great!

as for organic - im another that doesnt eat it. i just cant afford it either. everyone just seems to say make sure you wash your fruit really well.

Keep up the good work!

hey you are doing great but it sounds to me like you are undereating on fruit, get this its about 10 calories for every pound of bodyweight basal metabolism thats lying in bed all day, if you are 100 pounds that 10 cavendish bananas just to do nothing, you shouldbe eating more like 95% fruit, everything else you do burns calories like when you excersise right, i do best eating around 2 or 3 times a day so as do not always have something sloshing around, that means my blender is as full of bananas as possible, organic? well do yer best, just because its not called organic doesnt necessarilly mean its not, how about leaning toward the backyard fruits and venders that probably dont have any nasty stuff included. do yer best ohyeah yahh

I guess i will head out to buy some more fruit now.

Yes, I so agree with everyone so far. Organic is an ideal that I'm sure we would all love but I'm another that doesn't eat organic due to availability & cost. I do try to get local & off tress if I can but it's only a very small percentage. Yeh, & go for all the fruit you care for...it's so easy & I believe you can never overeat fruit. Enjoy...your doing so good:-)
