Are there any brands you might recommend that are chemical-free ? Or is this an anomaly ?

I like wearing make-up but I don't like putting chemicals on my face.

Any help and I'd be most grateful.

I found some beautiful lipstick earlier this year from Mrs Flannery's (a health food store). It's organic from New Zealand and processed chemical free too. I don't have the name handy but I can find it if you want. What I lovrd was that it didn't smell like 'lipstick' as I knew it... it's nice! Beautiful vibrant colours too from natural earth elements.

When I was in Canada last year I looked really hard for a natural lipstick, but they all had carmine in them! Here's a quote I just found... "Carmine is pretty much a fancy word for bug juice used as a color agent in most cosmetics". One website even boasts that their lipstick ONLY contains carmine from FEMALE beetles. Now personally I don't care about the sex... I just don't want dead beetles on my lips!!

I congratulate any company bringing out organic healthy alternatives... It's amazing we have so many good choices now!

Cheers,
Sheryl

I think there are apparently some cosmetic companies out there that are based on 'minerals' or something like that (my memory is a little vague on this topic). I think one of them was Bare Minerals.  There was an article in a good medicine earlier this year about mineral make up.
Sorry I can't be more help, but I'm lazy when it comes to make - I usually go the au natural look.

if you must were it there are apparently `option`s.

but here is my two cents worth.

as a bloke, i find it questionable that chicks have to wear makeup and we dont? unless your very opened minded and work in pattaya, thailand!

arent women beautiful enough already?

i and many think so. but i guess our social conditioning makes us act in accordance to current guidlines.

i reckon let your true beauty shine through. if you keep covering it up , it will eventually fade away. let the skin breath freely. become your true self. make up serves no physiological advantage. zero , zip.
for visual some people who have third degree burns or prominent birth marks feel better appling a cover.

i say dont bother. be who you really are. that way youll quickly find out how others really are.

you cant even get sweaty and physical without makeup stinging the eyes or getting smudged and make your beautiful face look like a kindigarten painting.

"health is the most perfect beauty and beauty is the most perfect health"

be who you really are. when you look in the mirror remember that there is no face identical to yours in the whole universe!!!

thats real beauty.

<_< That's an admirable thing to say.Yes,women are beautiful and rare and fabulous creatures. But i am yet to meet a woman yet who doesn't feel a little perkier with a dash of mascara or a lick of bronzer, even the most avid anti-makeup wearer feels brighter with a tiny bit of color.Speaking as a makeup artist.I guess it's just a girl thing eh!
Even though my husband says he likes me with or without makeup. It's something i like to do for myself,it can reflect any mood i am feeling.I don't know but every change i go through i change my hair or something physical,it's fun and freedom of expression.
When i exercise there's never any makeup on my face, blocks the pores ya know!!

I'm with Neet on this one...
I hardly ever wear makeup - when i was working i was an aerobics instructor so makeup was a no-go and i just don't feel the need for it most of the time, but on very special occasions i luv how it can make me feel - i guess i like to see it as another form of artistic expression i guess hehe...

I actually baught a new foundation the other day on impulse - its by a company called Suncoat (who are based in canada). Looking at the ingredients it doesnt look like it has too many nasties in it - it does have alcohol im under the impression isn't great, but it does have cocoa butter, and a couple of vegie and fruit oils... Cost me 40$ which is way more then id normally spend (im so stindgy haha) but it was the first one ive seen that said vegan on the label that i havent had to order off the net.

I haven't tried it yet, so i'll tell Si he has to take me out somewhere nice so i can test it, strictly for research purposes of coarse....

luv kt

The problem I have with finding really natural makeup, as with shampoos etc., is that they'll have lots of great really purely natural ingredients, but also nasties such as glycerin (sugar), cane sugar, alcohol
etc. Sugar (except pure sugar from fruit) can causes fungal problems etc etc and I don't think alcohol is the best thing to have the body absorb. Also, alcohol is a fermented ingredient which also causes health issues.

luv Eve
