here is a little snippet i found on the net..
MERCURY IN MASCARA!?

Researchers from the Environmental Working Group list the products and ingredients you should avoid , and mascara is among them.

Know what is in your cosmetics

Because of loopholes in federal law, companies can put virtually any ingredient into personal care products; moreover, pre-market safety tests are not required for any of them.

WATCH OUT for terms like organic, natural and hypoallergenic. Read the fine print and check the ingredients.

LAY OFF the fluoridated toothpaste. Little kids eat toothpaste, and fluoride consumption has been linked to bone cancer in boys. There’s a reason for the poison control warning on fluoridated toothpaste, so wait until they’re at least six before giving it to them. BRUSH WITH SOAP instead

HOW ABOUT added fragrances - can cause allergic reactions, and products that claim to be “fragrance free” often contain masking fragrances that give off a neutral odor. Check the label to be sure.

LIGHTEN UP on dark hair dyes. Many contain coal tar ingredients that have been linked to cancer.

REMOVE the nail polish, especially if you’re pregnant. It’s a product that routinely contains ingredients linked to birth defects and other problems. If you do use it, always paint nails in a well-ventilated area.

if thats not enough to make you chuck that female suppression goop they call 'make up' in the bin..then just remember that until we can accept who we are in the raw..how can we accept others too?

we cant 'make up' beauty..its earned via being happy, healthy and living as natural as we care to.

if i started wearing make up people would laugh at me. im a man. im good enough already society says. i think women are good enough too. so good already that they dont need to paint their faces with toxic stuff to try and 'make up' for the fact that they aint a man.

as a women, dont you feel your good enough to let your true identity glow?

boycott the industries that make teenage girls feel that entering womenhood starts with slapp'n on mascara n foundation.
boycott the industries that use computer touched up 17 year old models to advertise their products...
boycott the industries the have animal testing despite the labels..

if your partner wants you to change your face. or your employer..ask them 'cant you accept me for the way i am?, or how about you slap on some toxic goop and see how it feels..lol!'

eating greens and fruit
true means to be cute!

i love reading your posts.. they always make me think. I cant say im ready to chuck ALL my make up in the bin, but i have been wearing less since going raw. i can really notice if my skin and eyes "glow" depending on what i eat. . so then when i go to "cover" my face in the morning.. i think...hmmm.. i dont really need to cover my face when im glowing and happy! I'm all for being a (almost) all natural girl. i love having my hair messy and out. but the bf loves me "done up"...................................................

 hmmm u got me thinking...

I guess maybe I'm lucky cos I've never worn make-up so I don't have anything to get rid of! Al that goo has always seemed totally unneccessary and gross to me!

I totally agree with what you are saying Harles *But I cant do it yet*. I cant give up all my makeup. I dont wear it very often just really when we go out to the movies or something like that. If its a special occasion (when the kids are home with Nanna and Pop) and Pete and I are going out by ourselves I wear it just so I look prettier or even feel prettier in my own self.

So I would wear makeup maybe once twice a month at the most.

Funny story I was at the chiro about 2 weeks ago and the chiro that sees us when our normal one is away. Said to me 'what have you dont to your eyes there amazing' I had makeup on and he had never seen me with it on. That made me feel special but still I dont wear it all the time only when I feel the need to.

After talking to Suay about the effect her makeup was having on those close to her I decided to ditch my cosmetics too. It was a descision that took a couple of months but I think it was the right one. Tonight I went out with Bill to a restaurant and put my hair up and went bare faced. I think Angela Stokes and Jinjee are two of the most beautiful women on the planet and I'm yet to see either one raw with makeup on their faces. In their before shots sure but not now... they glow with their natural beauty. I want to be like that!

Last week I joked with Bill about what people would say... "we've been married one year and already she's let herself go, look what she is wearing and not one ounce of make up on her head" and Bill just said "yeah well that's because you now know not to poison your system with that stuff'! eeeeeeeeeeeee my cup spilleth over!

I can never hear enough stories of people rejecting the self-destructive far-from-natural products everpresent in our society (make up, shampoo, soap/detergent, toothpastes, alcohol, glasses, etc) and accepting the freedom of releasing their inner beauty. Empowering stuff. I love it!

ive got an old mate that works in sydney for a marketing firm..
her job is to do touch ups on the computer of models in adverts..
so we have standards set by computers now..lol! impossible to reach standards. wow! what a way to make your target market feel guilty and try and save face by buying 'trash a face' in a bottle..

like anything worthwhile..the 'glow' cant be bought..it can only be earned by living a lifestyle you know works for you..and incidently it works wonders for those around us..

raw lifestyle..gives us more 'go'
not to mention our true glow.

i still remember janita's first make up free day in 26 years..she had a blast! set free by her own beliefs that she is beautiful enough with the skin she was born with..and a month later in thailand..well she was a totally different person..

i see it time and time again..make up covering true glow..its like putting a mango in a microwave..

I am 37 years old and have only worn make-up 3 or 4 times in my life.

You may be surprised to learn that there is often a lot of negativity / backlash, towards women who don’t wear make-up.

I have been asked if I am a lesbian. I have been turned down for employment. I have been denied a promotion. I have endured sarcastic comments by air-headed space cadets.............and all because I don’t want to wear make-up.

Good for you Kittykat. I don't know how you handled all of that. Especially the getting turned down for employment bit. That would have made me so angry! You must be a very strong woman indeed!

Kitty that is so bizzar I would never have thought that wearing no makeup would have such a bad reaction like that. I say you go girl I think you are fantastic for not wearing makeup. It is just the normal that the world wants to see.

Love and hugs to you Angie

congrats! know you dont have to work with shallow idiots! lol!

female friends that were make up tell me the same ie;
have a perceived sense of beauty (standard set by hollywood, computer imaging and estee frauder adverts...)
to not be left out of the make up bandit gang.
employment acceptance.

yet i have raw make up free female friends that are more stunning than the waifs that couldnt lift more than a cigarette and a appetite suppresent pill..and im just talking looks,,i aint gonna get into the mental virtues..
them pinched faced waif's that get slathered in goop and then touched up to set this impossible standard..like the one in the chemist yesterday when i was getting photos..this hair 'model' photo..touched up beyond and then some..lol! but some people just cant see the fake faces...

some women wear make up to impress guys 'that tell you stuff you already know just so they sound more 'understanding and sensitive', but when it comes to crunch time..and you want to talk about organic skincare products..they are like 'err..are we gonna get it on or what?'

some guys dont want to be seen with a girl that doesnt fit the latest ralph or fhm magazine computer face manipulation programme..but what chick wants to be with a shallow hal?

like they say 'perfect health is the most perfect beauty and perfect beauty is the most perfect health.'

confidence is attracting..women that can handle their bare face to the public and feel proud instead of 'left out' are gonna attract and or sustain the guy that they wanna be with in the first place.

people do change of course..as a booze'n beef head, i respected touched up movie stars...today my definition is different..and that definition is along the lines that true beauty is earned, eat'n, sweated, hydrated, fit n raw!

This is an old thread but i had to have my 2 cents worth on this subject lol....

I was selling advertisement for a local paper once, and although i looked well groomed i never wore makeup. One day my manager asked me into the office and proceeded to tell me that i should try to look more made up by using makeup to attract male clients, so i could sell more ads, you know what happened to that job  detox lol...

I was asked to model hair and make up for a local bridal shop sixteen years ago lol. I agreed, thought it might be fun. I had to model an after five look and then a bride look, wasn't married then, so the first time i got to be a bride was for a tv shoot lol. Anyway, the amount of make up was absolutely incredible, i had 10 layers of mascara, 4-5 layers of foundation and heavy lipstick and eye make up. Honestly my face close up looked flaky, from the heavy foundation, my eyes looked as if i went a few rounds with tyson, and i looked ugly.. When the ad was televised, my skin looked perfect... I was flawless and it looked as if i had no make up whatsoever!!! It was a bit funny, cause the ad said "for your special day, natural looking make-up etc"... I f only people could see what i looked like live, they would have thought i was frankenstiens bride lol... So yeah! that was definetly a cover up story lol....... Just thought i would share, from one that's been there, what you see is not what you get....
