Today I ran my first half marathon. It was amazing, I felt great, very strong. The last two miles I ran very fast with a smile on my face. In fact, if I ever felt a bit struggling, I began to smile and use positive affirmations. The combo of raw, breathing techniques, smiling and affirmations worked for me. I ran it in 1 hour and 55 mins and I think I was in the fastest third out of 2000. Yay! The pic is taken just from the finish line-I was totally high and off my face at this point-Look I'm flying!

rawsome!
yeah the running high..especially strong in races eh?

i remember running a 1;22;35 half marathon. i was totally in the moment and could only open my eyes half way after the 5km mark..i was giving it everything. i had only averaged 5km a week hard running for the 5 months before the event..just used bike fitness to get me thru..

but yeah, attitude is everything..to keep up we must keep positive..
athletic pursuits really teach us to walk happy..even if we are limp'n from a race! lol!

was it cold? where your knees cold, cos id crack if i had something restricting my knees..

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have been running for about six months and set myself the goal of this race to work towards. I have been so inspired by the fitness and athletic pursuits of everyone on this forum and got so many training tips from reading other peoples posts. I finished my my day drinking many pints of banana, celery and green smoothies. I ate about 3 oranges, two apples and two bananas 3 hours before the race and no fats on the day before. I feel fantastic today. Oh Jen, I'm afraid I did not come third, I was in the first third out of 2000 ie prob around 700th.  Still feel so good-like I can do anything.

here is a tip if you want it..
next half marathon or 10k race, if its in the morn..dont eat anything before it...or if you must..have an orange or a banana..with  a few glasses of water..

youll run faster without any food in your stomach..
what we eat today, powers us tommorrow..

last marathon i ate 3 bananas before the run..way too much..lol!

1;55 for 6 months running..thats pretty fast!
