Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to transition into raw but I have so many silly questions to ask!! Even basic stuff like what seeds and nuts are raw when purchased and which ones aren't, is commercial agave nectar ok etc... I think it would help me to go more raw if I got hold of a couple of good books or read through some sites which answer all the mounting questions as I'm so confused!!!   huh

Does anyone have any good recommendations??

Cheers!!

welcome BC...great to have you here..

books id recommend
sunfood success diet
David Wolfe

80 10 10
Dr.Douglas Graham..

Perfect body
Roe Gallo

(i think its called) healing to 120..
Paul C.Bragg and Patricia Bragg

The miracles or fasting
PAul c.Bragg

your natural Diet
David Klein

self healing colitis and crohns
David Klein

The raw food detox diet
Natalia Rose..

best to get nuts that are still inshell....less chance they are rancid...

always be choosy where you buy your nuts and seeds...read the packaging if any...build up a good relationship with the shop owner...so you can trust his/her word,on whether things are truly raw or not...and explain why,you are asking the questions, then you are more likely to be taken seriously...

generally commercial agave i would be wary of..best to get it here from raw pleasure shop...

google Nora Lenz,she is amazing...
Dr Douglas Graham-food n sport
David Klein
David Wolfe

have fun its the best way to eat and live

good luck with everything

  rose   Thanks RawGreenGoddess!!   rose

This looks like a great list. There are a lot of books out there so it's a real help having some recommend Smiley

A lot of people mention 80/10/10 and the author is coming to Sydney to give a talk  next week. I might go along.

I went to the Cruelty Free Festival in Sydney yesterday and heard Sergio Boutenko talk about how his family thought they had a clear idea of what "raw" was, but had to re-adjust it later in response to their bodies changing needs. I really like this idea, learning to listen to how your body functions. It's exciting, but I also think that's where it can be overwhelming moving into raw - I'm not sure I've developed the skills in life to do this with my diet yet. But I do feel the call to do so, that's why I'm here on the forum.

I've been vegan for three years and veggie for six, and both were ethical decisions, but led me to a greater sense of awareness with my body. It's taken those two steps to introduce me to the idea of raw. When I went vegan I haden't really even heard of a raw food lifestyle beyond a few uninformed jokes about fruitarians. So I guess Shrek had it right when he said ogres are like onions!! We all have layers we need to get through, and sometimes it takes some tears to move closer to our core. Yay to raw journeys, and thanks for your help with mine!!

my pleasure BC...

yeh the way i see it...the more i feel those emotions coming up,the more i know i am getting closer to the real deal, the core of the matter....there are many many layers to peel away,to reveal the true beauty within me... and you are so right, sometimes there are many tears....but its awesome to have the courage and fortitude to face em head on!

thats awesome that you have been vegan for so long....

listening to your body is where its at...i have learned to be more fluid in my thinking...and to do things right for me..as you are doing for you! and i dont care anymore that i dont eat when others eat...and i have watermelon for dinner while others eat something else...the more i accept myself, the less of an issue others have with the way i live and eat...

keep up the awesome work..mwah

RGG I googled Nora last night. I had never heard of her before and wow, what an inspiration. I found some real encouragement in her story. It's great to have these raw role models. Thanks lovely!

I had never heard of Nora Lenz either. Just googled her. Her website has some great information on it, the "basic raw food FAQ" section is excellent. Also liked the philosophy and helpful links section.
