When my daughter was little, she also had a perforated eardrum and we were told to not put any fluid whatsoever in her ear. So, we put some Weleda Levisticum in there and she was cleared within two days. Levisticum drys out the ear canal and fluid in the ears. I kept her on that for three weeks and Bob's ya uncle. My midwife also taught me about the onion except we put some water in a pot, boil it with the lid inverted on the top, pop the onion on the lid and warm it up. Pop the onion in between some gauze, put that on the ear, bandage it on on the head until the pain goes away. That takes about 30 minutes.
Any immune enhancing remedies will help, echinacea, olive extract, etc., and keep him off mucus forming foods such as dairy and wheat.
Good luck! Michele.
