This was so wanderfull, thank You everybody for very intersting afternoon.

You all fed me very well, so I was able to cycle those hills back...

the multivariety berry farm is nort east of Silvan reservoir, map Mel 121

Parker Rd, turn off from Monbulk Road

very close to it is very nice place for meeting and picnics map Mel 120 H11
it is kinda botanical garden, with nature walks and kids playgrouns

I will have to find exact address of the farm the street number, but it is on the lefty side and could not be missed
they ahev a huge carpark and advertising, I also will look for the phone number as it is best to confirm what is in the season and waht is available to pick.

Perhaps we can have some of the future picknicks cakes-chocolate free  laugh

Another good place for meeting with kids is Lyllidale Lake, I would bring teh sit on top kayak for everybody to have a go.

Hey Rudolf, are you able to come on new years day? If you can then maybe we should make the meet up at lilydale like - kayaking sounds like a great idea.

Is there any berry picking nearby lilydale? we could do both

There's berry and cherry picking within a 15 to 20 minute drive from Lilydale at numerous places.  Wandin East, Seville, Silvan, and Monbulk.

I just found the following information at: http://www.pickyourown.org/australiavic.htm  It has pick your own information for each state, yay!  (This is a link to the VIC page however, other browsers may like to change that to their own state).

I'm not sure which berry farm you meant Rudy, as there are two berry farms on Parker Rd!!!

Quote
Chapmans Berry and Fruit Farm  - Raspberries, boysenberries and currants
Chapman Road, 21 and 39 Parker Road, Silvan - (03) 5964 4303.  Bring your own containers.   Shed sales of cherries. Some berries and fruits available for picking. Raspberries, boysenberries and currants are available for your picking. Shed sales of peaches, cherries and raspberries

Quote
Blue Hills Orchard  - Cherries, raspberries, strawberries, loganberries, youngberries and boysenberries.
27 Parker Road, Silvan - (03) 9737 9400. Blue Hills Orchards is nestled in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges near the Silvan Reservoir. The Chapman family has farmed in Silvan since 1984 and are best known for their quality fresh fruit and provision of "Pick Your Own" berries. Seasonal produce.

Also there is a blueberry farm and a cherry farm in the area:

Quote
Mountain Blueberries - blueberries
Dandenong Ranges & Yarra Valley.  tel: +61 (0)3 9756 6095.  Address: 15 Blueberry Lane, Monbulk, Melbourne, VIC. AU, 3793.  Pick your own blueberries (by appointment only) or purchase them just picked. 2004 prices: AUD6 a kilo or AUD8 if ready picked. Also hydroponic tomatoes (AUD3 a kilo). Frozen blueberries are available year round. Call first to assure availability of produce, particularly if the weather has been wet.  The nearest train is one and a half hour drive from central Melbourne. The open hours: 9am to 5pm, Tuesday through Sunday (between Christmas and February).

Quote
Cherry Haven 'Pick your Own' - cherries
470 Queens Road (end of Cherry Lane), Wandin East, VIC 3139. Phone: 0408 805359. Email: info@cherryhaven.com.au. Directions: Click here for a map and directions. Open: Weekends only - Saturdays & Sundays, 8 am to 5 pm from early November, then open each day during the Christmas - New Year while cherries are available. Please phone our message service to ensure Cherry Haven is open Cherries seasonally begin from early November and continue sometimes through until mid January Payment: Cherry Haven is a family-owned cherry orchard, overlooking the picturesque Yarra Valley of Victoria from the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. Less than an hour's drive from the Melbourne CBD you will find delicious tree-ripened cherries awaiting you. Cherry Haven is perfectly situated for producing quality cherries with the added benefit of great views and a delightful countryside environment. Delicious, juicy cherries you can pick yourself.

Enjoy!

the rasberries, other berries and strawberries farm is 27 Praker Rd, Silvan, 97379400

conatcted 3 blueberries farms - 2 of them will open second week in january, 1 had a message to call end of DEC

blueberries - 13 Cards La, Olinda, 9751-2544 - strictly no children !!!

blueberries - 15 Blueberry Lane, Monbulk, 9756-6095 kids OK, but booking ahead compulsorry, also tomatoes

blueberries - 39 Crooke Rd, Toolangi, 59629312, weekends only, kids OK, no booking, but call for seasonal info

I think, that the intended meetup on 12th Jan in Fitzroy gardens should be changed to blueberry farm, early morning - 9am, I am suggesting the Toolangi, since it does not need booking and is kids friendly, but it is a longish drive, great tomatoes available on the way home.

Well I had to go look up where Toolangi was.....  looks like a very nice drive through the pasture lands.

I haven't been out past Yering / Coldstream in a long while Smiley

Count me in if that's what we're doing in January!

Hey,

So I'm trying to write the meet up details for the 1st of Jan on the meetup.com page but I've never been to Lilydale lake so I don't know where to say we should meet. Rudolph? Where do you think?

My laptop died so I've got this small window of opportunity using a different computer. Meetup will automatically email every one in the next day or so, so I'd better say something  laugh

All Melbourne rawbies who want to come meet up at Lilydale Lake on New Years Day for a picnic and a paddle/walk/bike ride/frisbee throw/whatever you like, I'll post the details here when they're finalised and/or come and join the meetup.com group for our Melbourne raw meet ups.

I was there this morning, was OK but by noon it become like overheated pot, and nearly everybody left before 12.

with the weather prediction, I strongly suggest to cancel this outing, or move it somewhere indoor

Aye, very similar day predicted for Jan1, 37 just like yesterday.

I spent the day in the southern ocean.  Much cooler.

I'm not going to be able to make any meetup on Jan 1 either - my interstate friends are abducting me for fun and hilarity.
