bought so much food at the organic wholesalers i had to carry trays of mangoes on my lap...the only other way to pack more in the car was to shut the doors and tip it thru the sun roof..

we spent 321$ and calculated that as $1035 retail price.

10 trays of mangoes, 30kg of melon, 20kg of rockmelon, 10kg of tomato, tray of nectarines, box of bananas(free cos they were ripe..lol!) 20kg of valencias,4 punnets cherry tomato...\

we drove slow back cos the car was scrape'n!

i just went for a walk and picked about 50 mangos from trees that were hanging over the footpath, its either me or the bush turkeys as no one else seems to be picking them.

Where exactly within the Sydney Flemington markets is the organic produce sold?  it is such a large place and I've only gone to the retail section in section D.

there is 4 organic wholesalers open to public. except if you just buy an apple and a carrot...lol! they like large orders...everything is in boxes or punnets..not much loose produce..but sometimes..like watermelons and juicing citrus.

here are the 4 wholesalers.
organic direct INSIDE flemington.
eco farms opposite flemington on parramatta rd.
eb organics around the back of eco about 300metres around the corner.
back to eden is an apples throw from eb..

open mon fri 3am to 10am...just walk in a ask for a pricelist. dont mention my name..they dont care about raw..they just want to sell stuff..lol!

ran out of bananas yesterday..rode to bondi macro and the dude was just unloading a shipment...he did a 14kg box for 15kg. cert org but not fully ripe yet..
carrying a box of bananas on my handlebars has become second nature..lol!
i once thought sydney was exspensive for food..and it can be..but it also can be the CHEAPEST in australia for organic deals..its just a matter of personal choice if we want to pay more,,or get more..

Thank you so much for your reply.  i will go and have a look tomorrow morning if I make it out of here on time with my 3 little ones.

I think I saw you walking out the front of Macro bondi junction this afternoon.  I recognised you from the RP photo; but then you know sometimes you're not sure that's the person.  Anyhow then i turned around and saw 'Raw Vegan' on the back of your t-shirt, which confirmed it!!

Anyhow, thanks again for the advice.  Even the guy running the 'Dr Earth' shop down the road couldn't quite help me with the location of the wholesalers.

...to get the best deals..always ask a fruit junkee..
macro usually have ripe fruit deals..just ask one of the grocery crew pack'n the fruit shelves..

we hit eb organics and back to eden yesterday. eco was closed.

rockmelons are 32$ a 17-20kg box..vs 120$ at macro.. we got 5 boxes, a tray of peaches for 5$ and 2 9kg boxes of honey murcotts for 10$ a box..they sell 8$ a kg down the road..

so thats 779$ retail for 185$...not a bad deal i reckon..lol!

at the other market i heard sprayed mangoes are 5$ a tray at flemington. watermelon 40c a kg and 5$ a box of bananas..

even though i live off unemployment benefits..im still happy to pay triple the price of sprayed food to eat organic..

I went to Back to Eden on Monday and got a box of apples, oranges, 2 trays of mangoes and 10kg apricots!  I will be going back next week for sure, although i don't think i got the fruit as cheap as you Harley - paid the list price.

I did ask about seconds/ too ripe fruit and they said yes they sometimes have this available but since i got there at 5 minutes before closing i did not want to be too fussy - better than paying retail the day before Xmas.

I have been getting wholesale boxes through a co-op I'm part of and also Cathie from Central Coast Organics but if i have the time I prefer going there myself to see what's available.
