Went out today and accomplished the following:

  • Walked to the beach and did some stair climbing

  • Did a few sets of pushups and dips
  • Found some weights!  Great timing as I wanted some weights (for a couple of months now) but I didn't want to spend much money on them.  This morning I was scanning some ads but didn't see anything interesting.  When I walked outside, someone had left them and some old furniture outside the dumpster bin.  Cool!

Did a few curls and shoulder presses.

Drank some OJ and took a nap afterwards.

DAY 4

Observations

  • This morning I had a thin white coating on the tongue, but it seems lighter than before.
  • Lips are still chapped.  I noticed this usually happens when I've done a fast of some sorts.  I can't remember the exact words, but I believe its the toxins coming out from inside the body (which also caused the white tongue)
  • First workday:   All felt normal although at the end of the day I felt a little stronger urge to drink some juice (I did bring about 4 cups/2 pints of OJ to work and drank it in 2 sessions.
  • At work, I  get a half hour for lunch (makes for a shorter day), so I'm in a little rush when I drink.  I think psychologically I need to slow down and not rush (in my head).  The reason I mention this is is I feel a little gas afterwards...and I've only had OJ the whole day!  I've noticed this before when I've just eaten a couple of bananas or apples at work....simple lunch, but still the gas inside.

Basically, I've concluded I need to mentally slow down before and after eating.  Or perhaps its working afterwards that causes the gas.

A home, I drink my juice roughly the same amount of time...but I don't get that gas feeling.
  • I'm having odd dreams again.  Sleeping a little better.  I slept from 8:30pm-6am.
  • A raw vegan named Peter Ragnar says dreams are "toxins" of our brain.  Anyway, I did have some nonsense dreams (which I usually don't have or remember):

Note:  I don't have premonition dreams...my dreams haven't told the future so far!

    Here's the dream:

I dreamt aliens were coming down from space and overtaking the earth.  It was kind of a like a scene from a bad sci-fi movie.  Ships were landing and the aliens put us to work (basically doing some nonsense work).

    Oooo-h!  Wink

DAY 5

Observations

  • Sleeping better.  I woke up about 10 minutes before my alarm clock which is great.  It's nice to experience the internal alarm clock thing again.

I go to sleep early and usually the first hour I seem to still be awake.

Didn't recall any dreams offhand last night.

  • Very light white coating on the tongue.
  • I noticed my stomach gurgles a little at night as if I have too much liquid inside my stomach.  I may have to try drinking less at night/in the evening.

This afternoon, I slowed down my breathing before drinking my juice at lunch.  That seemed to eliminate/greatly reduce any gas this afternoon.

This is a good reminder to slow down at work, etc. and to remember to breath deeply all the time if possible.

  • One day I mixed one lemon with my OJ.  Seemed fine but I've decided to stick with plain oranges during the juice feast in case the lemon and/or mandarines is causing the gas/stomach gurgling.

hooray yay for simplicity, yay for double sunshine from the waters reflection to fight the winter blues hey those valencias were cheap, organic? i get ones from this guy who drives around i think theyre from oceanside or ojai and i get my tangerines at the farmers market for a buck a pound :yahh:the white tongue thing  could have to do with the citric acid and the fact that you are going greenless, and maybe just more sugar in your mouth hence more micros + plaque.  i juice mine straight in to my mouth with my teeth and hands , tangerines are so simple i enjoy peeling them so easy, keep up the sunshine i heard that 3 days without our bones begin to soften, you are such a hotty

Hehe, thanks 6pak!  And thanks for the tips.  Unfortunately, I'm not getting a lot of sun this week (because of work and it's cloudy and a little cold right now) but hopefully I can make up for it late in the week when I have some time off.

Yup, the valencias were indeed organic and from Earl's.  He has great sales as well (the valencias I had were the going rate at the time by the way).   I'll be getting more tomorrow (a friend picks up boxes and we split the produce).

Hi Emi!  That's funny about the flying dragon - cool!

DAY 6-7

  • Sleep has been good lately.  I'm sleeping early and waking up early.  Am still waking up before my alarm clock.  I dreamt that one of my favorite songs in the past, Sukiyaki, was playing loudly.
  • Finished all my oranges and the mandarins today!
  • Energy level is good.
  • I find I prefer drinking my juice using my mouth instead of a straw.  It feels more natural and the juice tastes better.  I'm guessing because more of the tongue feels the juice.

I had been trying to use my straw when drinking the juice (to just lessen the sugars touching the teeth), but had forgotten the straw to work one time.  So, I drank the juice from the jar and it felt good.  I felt I was drinking and going with the right timing for swallowing as well.

Gosh, I can't remember when I last had cherimoyas!  Hey 6pak, a cherimoya picnic --  cool and spontaneous idea!   Finished my oranging yesterday.  Sent you a PM.   In regards to the hike I mentioned, the hike went well.  Walked around 5 miles around the Twin Peaks area.  Slow paced-hike.  Weather was gorgeous.

Orange Juice Feast Results - 1 Week Juice Feast Completed.

  • 7 days completed.
  • Weight changes:    Lost 2-3 lbs./1 kg.  Wasn't expecting any significant weight changes.  I'm pretty much at the weight I should be at for my current lifestyle.
  • Vision is sharper.  My vision tends to waver a little depending on how well I eat.
  • Energy is great.
  • Interestingly, I noticed my hair seems a little longer.
  • I drank less water than if I ate food.  The OJ juice was hydrating on its own.
  • BMs were very little if any.  Hmmm..I think that's ok as I was eating very little, if any, fiber.

Overall:  Great

Thoughts

  • I'd like to do more juice feasting when an especially yummy fruit (to me) is in season.
  • I was reminded how juice fasting is easy to do.  However,  I can see how it's ideal to do this when I'm not too busy.  I want to take advantage of sleeping more during a juice feast.
  • I'm going to make more of an effort to eat helpful food combinations to help have better digestion.  Part of the plan is to eat all or most of my fruits during the first  part of the day.  And then finish with salad and heavier raw foods in the evening.
  • Juicing:  I'd like to drink OJ or a juice 1-2 times a day.  Especially if the fruit is in season.
  • Raw food potlucks:

    My strategy:

    • Eat all/most of my fruits first during the earlier part of the day.
    • Then eat a moderate amount of the heavier foods and greens at the potluck which is later in the day.  And try and go for the dishes whose combinations won't adversely affect the digestion too much.

By the way, I'm attending a small potluck tomorrow.  It's someone's birthday...And there's going to be raw cake!!   Holy smokes!  Well, I'm going to stay away from fruity-nut combinations as much as possible.

Day 8 - Post-Fast

What I had to break the fast yesterday:

  • Morning:   water
  • Noon:  OJ
  • Afternoon:  2 apples.  These tasted alright. I noticed the nice apple smell as I was cutting them.
  • Evening:  greens and avocado.  Wow, the greens looked so ....green! LOL.  It's just after drinking OJ, I hadn't seen live greens in a while ...it's almost as if looking at green sunshine. Smiley

The greens and avo tasted, well, bland.

So I drank OJ a couple of hours later.  LOL.  laugh  Yum!

Went walking the following day for a few hours (drank OJ the first half of the day and had a salad afterwards).  Beautiful day so I was able to soak in a little sun.

Hey Harley, you are an inspiration for being a bargain-magnet (among other things)!  And I'm with ya' -- they're out there...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I recently juiced some Navel oranges because I ran out of Valencias...wow -- they have even more water!!  But, it wasn't as sweet of course...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I'm really loving fresh orange juice right now...I drink it everyday....Since I'm eating other stuff as well, energy is great but am falling sleeping much quicker (I guess because I'm digesting a lot late in the day).

I'm ordering at least another case for next week.

I want to do more OJ fasts in the future so I'll read up more on that to make sure I'm eliminating toxins efficiently, maybe watch sugar levels or what have you,  etc.

So, Garfield22, perhaps we'll be OJ feasting/fasting buddies in the future.Smiley

RGG, you're an inspiration!!  Smiley
