I am new to this Forum and may be touching an area which has been discussed before but was wondering
apart from Bee Pollen, which is not a desirable Vegan Food for some. Is there anything else that can give you B12.

Kim Chi - korean fermented lettuce!

However becareful of comparing your B12 count with the rest of the population. Most food these days are fortified with B12(analogue form) due to customer requires. I don't which customer they listen to!

B12 is a bacteria that lives in your intestines and helps you to digest your food and get adequate nutrients from it. You are born with a healthy colony of B12 living in your intestines, which reproduces and lives happily. Poor diet and lifestyle, especially lots of stress, can kill off your B12 - on the flipside, a good and healthy diet and lifestyle will allow your B12 to flourish.

You don't need to worry about consuming B12 if you are living a healthy lifestyle that supports your own B12 colony. Also, blood tests do not accurately reveal your B12 status because, as I've said, B12 is in your intestines not your blood. If you want a test to accurately tell you how much B12 you have, there is something called an MMA test. I don't know much about it though.

I hope I've helped. Please note that I am not qualified as anything, though I have studied a fair bit of biology.  ohyeah

Wheatgrass and your own urine, but I guess technically thats not vegan laugh  Personally I've accidentally eaten so many bugs on my greens that I'm probably getting a little B12 from there.

Regarding healthy Colon, after hearing Matt Monarch on the weekend with Angela Stokes, it appears we don't have one, due to Mucoid Plaque that has developed over our life, eating the SAD diet. He suggested Colonics to clear the Colon, which requires a bit of a mental leap on my part, but I eventually will do one.
Kim Chi sounds interesting.  Is there any recipes on the net you could recommend without the sugars and salt they usually recommend when you are preparing it.

mine is the lowest (33) that ive ever heard of. its the lowest that my med mates have heard of. its the lowest the docs have heard of. its the lowest the tv nutritionist had heard of. eddie has low b12. and look what eddie eats..

what is the number we are supposed to have? i look out into society and dont see a very fit and healthy view. i see massive scale apathy, fatigue, depression and nervous neurotics. we live in a world ruled by drugs, pills, potions and needles. anyone desiring to live in accordance to their heartfelt intuitions is questioned.

I guess if a raw vegan suffering from symptoms, took the correct tests reflecting their b12 status, then we'd have a yardstick to measure from. In the absence of this, what have we got? Just the conventional allopathic norms. According to those norms, many of us here are on thin ice... i know I am. While I'd like to be as confident as you, Harley, that our impoverished b12 levels are nothing to worry about, I have to remind myself that b12 deficiency symptoms can take 7 years to present themselves, and few (if any) of us here have been raw vegan for more than 7 years. Given the severity and irreversibility of b12 caused nerve damage, and the relative ease with which it can be prevented, I don't see any reason not to play it safe.

great advice Brett.....H you are only 2 year raw....im not into scare mongering, and with what ive just come through health wise, and still coming through, which had a huge affect on my mental health....i wouldnt be too proud of having a 33 count of b12....maybe your not getting enough random bugs in your teeth,as you ride the 'corkscrew'....smile as you ride, ahh theres the b12,got it! rofl

all you say you see in the masses-Harley....is also very evident in the vegan and raw community....it is all about balance and a healthy mind set....sheesh its world wide,no matter the diet...its just so much more than what we eat isnt it!?

and yes! everyone is different...and finding your own path of success for vibrant health and mental vitality/clarity and happiness!

i havent answered your question Kittso...as i would say its pretty much already been covered here...

yes always best to play it safe. we must do our own research and forge our beliefs based on our own conclusions.
we live in a world where the water, land, air, food is sterile.

on nerve damage...they say it in the textbooks but ive never met or heard of anyone. even doug graham aint ever heard of anyone. or heard of anyone that heard of anyone having nerve damage.

ive met a few cyclists that cooked em selves on the bike. everyday people that didnt drink or sleep enough, and marathon runners that burned out. a few pro cyclists that took so much drugs they find it hard to function and a few junkees that fried a few too many brain cells...

who knows? maybe i will be the first?

and we can eat the best food around..but if we dont let go of a negative attitude..then its all for naught.

LOL, Neet, too funny.

I got my B12 tested yesterday. I've been following a vegan diet for 5 years so I thought it was a good idea to check it out.  I get the results next week.  I asked for the MMA test but they said they don't do it Sad

Regarding what levels of b12 are normal and healthy, compared to conventional blood tests what I like about live blood cell analysis is that if your blood cells look healthy you're healthy, if you have a b12 deficiency and it affects the size and shape of your blood cells you can see it, no debate necessary, seeing is believing.  According to my last live blood cell analysis I have no sign of b12 deficiency but I'm getting my levels tested too.

Harley on the subject of your low B12 Blood count. You may be right in what you are saying, but John Fielder when he came to Adelaide some time ago, showed some slides of some Clients who were on a strict Raw Vegan Diet and had health problems associated with it. One in particular caught my eye who was in a wheelchair who looked anorexic and was seriously ill, and he also mentioned and showed several Raw Vegan couples trying to have children. They only had success conceiving and having healthy children when combining some Raw Animal produce whether it be fish, milk or eggs in their diet.
What I do take note of, is when I spoke to you some time back you mentioned some Raw Vegans do eat too many nuts and this is where the unbalance happens. Time will tell if you are right.
