Woo hoo!

I've just made my very first raw chocolate.....oh my God.....now I can understand what everyone has been raving about.....I wasn't really a chocaholic before....but I am now!

There is something so incredibly decadent about polishing off the last bits of chocolate from the bowl with your fingers whilst you're watching The Biggest Loser on TV.....and feeling oh so smug and guilt-free ;-)

I LOVE raw!!!!!!  yahh  yahh  yahh

Well, I guess that just  goes to show that great minds think alike then!

I'm afraid it's just one of those words that's going to spring to mind in the raw world....and yes, it's a very cool handle ;-)

I TOTALLY understand.  smiley

I think that the reason I love making chocolate with a pestle and mortar is because, after cacao alchemy, the pestle instantly becomes a choc top.

Another glorious way to clean the chocolate bowl... when they are in season, peel a lovely sweet mandarin, and use the segments to wipe the bowl clean of chocolate.

Sheryl ingeniously discovered this, and I've been a fan of it ever since.  It has to be experienced to be believed.  It is outrageously good.

I do love your posts, you always say things that totally resonate with me. As for wiping the bowl clean with mandarin segments, that sounds like a totally juicy and yummy experience. Thank you!

I actually just polished off last night's first-ever batch of home-made raw chocolate for breakfast. I don't have a sweet tooth as such. However, my rationale for doing this is that I noticed last night that a few hours after eating the chocolate I felt naturally better, clearer, happier and more energetic than I have in years. And my skin and eyes look really quite different this morning. I'm very in tune with my body.....I'm not exaggerating about the difference in how I look and feel today. I can barely believe it myself. Clearly I was deficient in some nutrients that are now being supplied through the choclate.  Extraordinary!!!!

There really is a lot to be said for these superfoods. I don't need any more convincing as to their incredible power.  I am truly ecstatic that I'm on this raw journey.

I've also noticed, since eating the chocolate, that all my 'detox cravings' have instantly gone. I do believe I have a very clean system in some ways but I've had terrible cravings recently that would not go away, even if I ate and ate and ate, all raw of course. Now those cravings have also suddenly and magically gone, literally overnight!!!!!   yahh

I cannot express enough the relief to know that maybe I don't have to feel that way any more as long as I continue to eat a variety of super foods.

New rawbies - take note and experiment with this - it could save you a whole lot of heartache and temptation.

Let's hope so!!!!!  yahh

Love Spirit - I so know the joy that you are sharing.

It's glorious that you have noticed effects so quickly.

I believe I am correct in saying that cacao has the highest source of magnesium, of any food on the planet.  I have read that of all minerals, magnesium is the one that most people are deficient in.

And yes, magnesium can also be found in leafy greens (smiles at Durianrider - who incidentally still has "God of Cacao" under his name).   smiley

The other by-product of cacao consumption that I (and many others) have noticed, is an increase in creativity - in whatever form that may be for the individual.  I refer to it as the "cacao muse".

My creativity (with words/writing) went through the roof when I was in Sedona.  I was eating some of the best raw foods - predominantly greens and 1 or 2 raw chocolate blocks a day.  For me, it felt awesome.

I am actually seriously considering doing a green juice + cacao "fast".  laugh

On that note - I am going to go and make myself a green juice.  Later, it will be a luscious coco/berry/cacao & superfoods smoothie.

Great tips re magnesium and creativity - I'm fascinated and am going to Google both of those.

As for the chocolate fast - you poor deprived thing.

Still, I suppose someone has to martyr themselves for the betterment of mankind.  rofl

ooh I've just got my hands on some raw chocolate and discovered something really funky! Mix some cacoa powder with melted coconut oil (in the sun for a minute or three!) and agave nectar (I used dark), then spread over raw ice-cream (mine was just frozen really ripe nanas and fresh garden blueberries mmmmmmmmm- purple) and it sets like that yukky Ice Magic stuff! It's not yukky though!

I didn't use to have a sweet tooth now all this fruit-eating has me craving it!

Go LoveSpirit! you sound so happy and inspired yay!!!!! heart heart

Thanks Love Spirit for the compliment. You gotta do what you know you gotta do! Look at you - giving up so many addictive substances at one time - wow! It's amazing how people seem to just reach a point of inspiration when they finally believe that it can be better...it could happen at any time!
Good point about the icecream topping for kids...but I need not tuck it away - my partner and many friends love raw stuff when it resembles junky food! My beloved even said the topping tasted like a Bounty bar and got all excited (so did I for him!).

Enjoy your chocolate!!

Here you go, gorgeous peoples. I got this recipe from the net and chose it for its simplicity. But you can customize it in lots of ways - ideas at the end of the recipe. This chocloate is so easy to make, a 5 year old could do it - and you will not believe how delicious it is if you've never had raw chocolate - which I hadn't.  yahh

Ingredients:
60g cacao butter, grated
2 tbsp mesquite or maca (I used mesquite as it has more protein)
3 tbsp chocolate powder
1 tbsp agave nectar (I used 2 tbsp honey as my agave had not arrived)

Directions:
1) Boil a kettle full of water and pour into a small pan.
2) Carefully place a large glass bowl on top of the pan, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the hot water.
3) Add the grated cacao butter and stir continuously until it has melted. NB Raw cacao butter has a melting point at approx 38°C, so it will melt very quickly. To retain the cacao's nutrients, it should not be allowed to exceed this. (You can check periodically by dipping your finger in the melting cacao butter - it should feel slightly warm, not hot.)
4) Once all the cacao butter has melted, slowly stir in the mesquite and chocolate powders until they have dissolved completely. Next add the agave nectar.
5) Pour the chocolate mixture into your chosen chocolate moulds, or simply a small tub lined with greaseproof paper. I used a takeaway container and foil as I had no greaseproof paper then. As you can see, I was pretty impatient to try out this stuff! ;-)
6) Place in a fridge to chill and harden. (I put mine in the freezer for speed!)
7) Once hardened, these chocolates will remain solid at normal room temperature, but you may prefer to keep them in the fridge anyway. (I think keeping it in the fridge is nicer)

Variations:
You can add other super foods to these chocolates to make them even healthier - try lemon/orange peel, ground Goji berries or add nuts like macadamias. I added macadamias to mine. Kate Magic adds Etherium gold – that’s worth a try too!

YUM!!!!!

This makes the equivalent of one large bar of chocolate/two normal sized bars.
A word of warning: I ate 2/3 of this and was then up until 4am the next day in a blissed out, heart-centred and totally creative state, brain-storming exciting ideas for my life. I then got up at 6.30am and continued similary all day. It was not until later that someone pointed out to me that raw chocolate does this to some people.

I love making choc-orange-banana smoothies in the morning but I am VERY careful with the cacao. It really is like rocket fuel in my system. I love it, but it can't be good to overtax our system.

Now, go ahead and indulge anyway ;-)

That looks very nice!! Thanks Love Spirit

I had a go at making some nice raw chocolate in the past with cocao powder but was never really succesful.

Yes cocao definately does that, better to have in the morning than late at night I guess.....

Thanks again for the recipe
