I went back and re-read Tanya's book last night and dry fasted 14 hours over night.  Just got back from 1 hour bike ride and quenched my thirst with chia and o/j drink.

I have never been a big water drinker so not too difficult for me....I do agree that dry fasting for a day or more should only be attempted once your body has under gone extensive detox.  I am happy with the 16 hour daily dry fast and the 2-5pm curfew cut off.  I normally don't eat after 5.30pm anyway but still drink after this time, will have to slowly reduce the drinking part.

I like that she only uses the juice from the fruit and veg to quench the thirst, I mean F1 uses this principle too.

yes.

my body this morning was asking for green tea however, after extremely hot night and very dry and hot weather during night and morning, 40 expected today.

So it was back to drinking lots of green tea, with honey and lemon, feels so good after a while.

drinking honey warm drinks often gives me additional BM, so today already 2 BM, which is intersting on liquid obnly regime.

today I was cgewing on watermelon, peaches, cucumbers and appless

and am getting ready for 2 corns, cucumbers etc, and will have carrot-cellery-aple juice just around 2pm and see
if thats will be enough today, or if because of the weather I will have to drink after that.

I was thinking of you when I read about Tanya's views on salt.  Haven't had much experience in this area... I need to research bit more.

Funny I was thinking about salt too today.

Did not have any last few days.

My current view seems to be :

if all the liqquid is taken as a veg-fruit juice, than there is no ned for salt and body is not asking for it.

However while in transition or on toxic diet, body needs galons of water to keep flushing the amounts of toxins and diluting the muscus.

So it serve thje purpose and it basicaly keeps the 99% of population alive.

However the unwanted side affect is flushing of minerals too, so the salt is compensating for it.

This is very different to teh position of some 811 fanatics who claim that salt is no good since YOu get all minerals from fruit.

To me it is diluting by drinking water. so regardless how much fruit You eat and for how many years, if YOu keep drinking water for whatever reason, body ask for salt.

day 17, everythings going well.

Achieved 60.0 kg, and the lowest weist measurement ever = 72 cm.

feeling great lots of energy, easy concentration, very light etc.

Yesterday was ready for the 4pm drinking curfiew, had carrot juice.

we went to movies to escape the heat (the americans movies hit the rock bottom, it cant get any worse on any aspect). Got home and later realized, that I need drinks and also some calories, teh accumalative effect of very dry and hot air plus dry aircinditioning air is too much for strating new regime, so decided to postpone teh extended dry fast hours for few days till the crazy heat wave is over. So had plenty of ornages and some other stuff for chewing, also some green tea.

This morning body said - lots of green tea, and so it was tea, lemon, honey, later swithced to jasmine tea.

Did some exercises and went for run, it was noon already so already hot and very dry, got hold up home by helping rearange my son room.

I had no idea how fast or how long am going to run, ebnded up as 2km warm up, 3 km fast tempo run and 1 km coold down so 6km all in.

The time for tempo run was very fast without really pushing it, each lap was faster, it is my PB on this very hilly trail circuit.

Only after run I started chewing, first tried peaches but they were not juicy so throwed them out, cucmbers, corn, carrot, apples and orange, later lots of lettuce and snow peas.

I am not even to pay attention to timinh today, just made huge pot of green tea and am going to drink all evening.

Cool change predicted for thursday, so 4 more days.

Am feeling very good after the run, what is also different is that my achiles stayd stiffe only for maybe an hour,
so the recoveries are good.

I feel better on tea-lemon-honey, than on juices, but am trying to chew on variety anyway.

while I achieved the lowest weist measurement, I am still far from lowest skinfold fat tummy numbers, so it means,

all the fat and garbage loss happened inside teh body, which is relly great, and explain my physical feeling of happiness inside.

It is over it is not for me.

Did 20 days.

achieved weight loss of 4 kg : 64.0 - 60.0

shrink of the weist area of 3 cm : 75 - 72

decreased body fat in teh stomach are, measured by skinfold caliper in milimeters:

above teh belly button : 18 - 12
below the belly button:  15 - 10
side of teh belly button: 16 - 10
side-love handles area : 11 - 6

getting lots of detox effects feeling much better more enrgy etc, so all is good, so why I terminated it :

My body was starting to refuse all teh fruits, had to force it (chewing of fruit) but the accidity started to build up to the point of getting reflux refusing anything fruity at teh same getting extremely hungry and low on energy.
Body still liked the veggies part of it, carrot and cellery juices, cucumbers, chewing of lettuce and corn.

However the lack of calories was forcing me nearly on teh corn diet which I did not really want, and was sstarting to getting cramps to hands and feet for lack of minerals.

Body was also refusing the barley green powder, as well as refusing spirulina powder, not having the green juicer was making it more questionable.

Body started to ask for cooked vegs and for some avos and coconut oils, as well for some seeds.

Last night went to masters athletics, could not get the rhytm going at the first walking race (partialy the uissue of shoes - but that is to far from this topic), than after nearly an hour break from walking races the second walk race was a dissaster for me, got pain ih hip and down the leg, had stiff tendons and muscles like microcramps issue, and the feedback in my subconsious mind was to stop this silliness of inforcing high fruit diet.

So last night after getting home I had some dry toasts of grain-seed bread with coconut fat and solid raw vegs
and finaly garlic, was feeling much better this morning, and decided to return to predominatly veg system with minimum fruit, regardless of how big or little % of the veg is raw or cooked and never to pay attention to this issue again.

My decison is to follow basicaly Ehrets system with some input from Tanya so combining teh cycles of total gfasting for detoxing with period of cooked vegs suplemented by some raw fruit and loads of raw greens.

Decvided that juicing is not for me, it is better to have periods of proper eating with periods of proper fasting
and bnever again to join some huray mass action going around teh world be it in nutrition or exercising.

Really the best is to focus on personal development and doing everything intuitively day by day, not to get trapped into any long term programms of any groups.

Looking back it was educational 20 days, achieving a lot, but my feel is that the results were acived by teh fact of very low cals, so it was like partial - halfway to fasting suported by very intense physical training regime.

It was not based on fact that it was fruits or juicing.

Tabnyas input was also valuable with timing as for trying to stop eating drinking early afternoon and not having late night dinners, and for her input on water restriction, dry fasting etc.

I am bit dissapointed that body does not respond well to using powders as greens barley or spiruline as that could be very convenient system for traveling and saving teh tinme with preparation, shopping and also quite cheap
but I simply do not like do not respond well and so it not sustainable.

Was hopping if it was sustainable would also solve issue for many days running-walking ultra races as well for hiking in teh country, mountains, etc with no access to shops and fresh produce, bvut it is simply not a solution for me.

Since I decided to stop the juicing experiment and am not likely to return back to it, I will not continue on this thread-topic and wil likely start new topic if I find the new regime is established and is working well.

Thanks for reading and sharing.

see ya

Interesting Rudy.

I admire the fact you stay open-minded and are willing to test all these things in the only place that counts. Your body.

I came to the conclusion that 100% raw was not for me ages ago. What suits me best is high raw, but stay totally relaxed about the whole thing. Frankly atm I'm not even achieving that lol, but my house has been like a train station for the last year with people constantly coming and going and dropping in, getting married and renovating a house has been time consuming as well.

I'm looking forward to later in the year when everything winds down around here and I can enjoy the haven I am creating.

Then I can fully concentrate on meditation and get into the type of training I want to do and of course diet.

As always Rudy it's been interesting and insightful to read of your adventures.

John

The journey sounds intense and that deprivation eventually set in. glad your a listener and in tune with what your body needs. How is everyone else going who embarked on this fast. I think its an incredible feat. The discipline it must take. I admire that.

Hi melchoir_magik

I haven't started mine yet! Planning to juice feast from 1st May for 21 days. I've signed up with the Rainosheks' Global Juice Feast programme and am doing lots of research. I'll keep a journal on here when I start as I think I'll need a bit of support and encouragement. I'm already terrified and excited in equal measures!!

Hi,

I'll be commencing Juice Feasting again, I loved the results I was getting during the feast.  I wasn't following the programme to the letter, I found it very hard to drink the recommended amount of juice each day.  For me this time around I've learnt to have enough juice in the morning and day to potter along and achieve my expected work load for the day but with the evening not force feed myself, if I want juice have it, if not have a warm bath and straight to bed, I think more healing will come from that.

Also the other thing in the programme I gave a really good crack but didn't agree with me was hemp oil.  The 1 Tbls each day had me waking up with painful eyes (which I've never had a problem with before) and a hairy dry/parched swollen tongue like I've been out boozing all night.  So I will be trusting in mother natures greens juiced this time around for my EFAs intake and  hopefully this will suffice.

Still haven't found a good source for raw bee pollen yet, I lost some ordered to customs.  Even with buying bee pollen locally in Australia some of it is irradiated  Sad  ,  I will keep hunting locally.

Day 7 I had fruit custard (avocado, banana, mango, baby spinach and OJ blended then drizzled with passionfruit) which is not too bad and what you could call a modified Juice Feast and then immediately resumed juicing but later on in the following week I broke it unintentionally with potato wedges whilst at the movies which made me pretty sad with myself.  And then I picked up juicing again immediately, my craving for real foods have gotten so much juicier and real now.  Some of the rewards of JFing I had, this is over a few weeks:

a face lift (Like Gosia described.)

weight loss (About a dress size and a half, my scales need batteries.)

skin was amazing (Best it has ever been since being a child.)

BMs improved massively (I really noticed dramatic healing with my colon and with those feelings of pain and inflamation.)

a window of crystal clear clarity (I must tell of this, no laughing at me, but I had a spell of where everything was really slow around me and I was observing matrix like.  I thought this is what they must be talking about with us walking around most of our life with brain fog and wonder with awe at our potential with pure unadulterated foods.  The rest of the juice feast though was mainly foggy and emotional with detox.)

weak as a kitten (Dropped off doing as much exercise, my goal this time around is to just to turn up to Bikram and just be there and sweat even if I can't manage the stronger postures, I'm doing ok.)

was emotional (Have many demons to kick ass.)

additional hair growth (I wasn't sure to mention this as it has only been a short period of time and I'm not sure where to lay credit to in the programme.  I've notice with running my fingers through my hair, I can feel all this shorty fuzzy new growth all at the same stage of growth for me to have noticed.  I'm not sure if it is the 3 Tbls of MSM a day I'm taking or the vitalzym enzymes or the magic of easy assimilation of mass nutrients from all the juicing that has caused this.  I've had problems with thinning hair due to PCOS, so I keep watching this.)

Probably heaps more I can babble on with but I'll leave it there,  I'm very grateful for Juice Feasting and RAW for so many reasons.  I too would love to hear more from other Juice Feasters here in OZ.

Much fuzzy warmth,
Nic
