The terminology varies, so I am not 100% sure if various authors are talking teh same stuff. And so am not sure what teh term platelets refers to. But Ehret has exactly the same theory regarding the white blood cells, and says that the level should be zero in completely clean completely detoxed and mucusless body. page 46-47 of mucusless diet healing system So if platelets are what is othjerwise known as white blood cells that yes, if platelets are oxygen carriers, than it is different issue, so lets the terminolgy clear first. Perhaps platelets is the term agrreed by faked civilization medicine, and I completely forgot their language already ?

Absolutely not! Platelets are what stops you from bleeding to death if you cut yourself - people with ... oh dang, I've forgotten what it's called. Well anyway, when there is damage to a blood vessel the platelets all stick together to form what is called a 'platelet plug' to stop more blood coming out. It's a really complex reaction but thats the bottom line. I would think low platelets could be an issue in someone with HIV, not so much for them but others, due to the fact that they could bleed more after a small injury, putting the health of others at risk. That said, I really don't think it's necessarily a good idea to trust conventional medical doctors on what is 'normal' or 'healthy.' Sure, platelets might be low compared to the standard curve they use but then we generally agree that other figures, such as recommended daily intakes of nutrients, are wildly exaggerated. You've got me so interested, I'm half tempted to get my own levels tested!

rudy, I used to wear glasses but since going raw I don't need them anymore, I used to put them on all day, now I don't even know where they are. (Yes I am the friend with the low White Bloods.)
I just got out my blood test results and Platelet count is normal, it's the White Cell count that is very low - sorry Jen to confuse you.
Causes stated on the form include, immune destruction, drug toxicity, infections (especially viral) adn vitamin b12 or folate defiency. None of these are relevant to me as I don't get sick..(touch wood)... don't and have never taken drugs of any sort, am not b12 or folate deficient.
It's quite confusing because doctors talk about white blood count and platelets together. From what Freedom said the platelets help with blood clotting and it is well known that white blood cells are for immunity. So if your body does not consume cooked food which sends a rush of white blood cells out to counteract the foreign matter entering the body and raw food does not do this can we assume that if you don't have a high need for white blood cells then the body willl not produce extra?....
To confuse the issue even more, my white bloods have been low for a very long time, even before going raw - (found test dating back to 97 and 98 showing them to be low). but I have always eaten a very clean, unprocessed diet with a lot of raw foods anyway, and have never been a sickly person and always been energitic.
It would be good to know if anyone else has low white blood cells and how they are going. I have decided not to worry about mine but since we are here it would be good to know.
So Rudy..... now will you please explain the question about eyesight.... i'm intrigued!!!!
