Hi all, I was chatting to a friend the other day who has both HIV and HepC. He has had both for over 20 years (diagnosed 10 years ago)  and with a raw diet his liver has actually increased in health. He never gets sick, not so much as a temperature, and can't recall the last time he was ill. Recently his platelets have started dropping and he is trying to work out why. No symptoms from either the HIV or the HepC have ever surfaced.

I spoke to another friend of mine since then and her platelets are low and have been for years. She has been 100% raw for over 6 six years and is also never ever sick. The medical community did every test they could think of to try and find out what was 'wrong' with her including taking bone marrow for testing which is not a painless exercise.

She has a friend who is 80% raw and has been for years who has just had some bloodwork come back and he has low platelets. He also never gets ill.

The theory my friend (the second one mentioned here) has come up with is that when humans eat cooked food their body sends out the immune system to attack the foreign invader. This is pretty well known. She thinks that because we don't put foreign invaders into our bodies that our bodies don't need to have as many platelets as the regular community.

Has anyone read anything to support this? I would love to hear of anyone else with a low platelet count if you have had the work done.

I would love some references if anyone has them.

Thank you in advance!

The terminology varies, so I am not 100% sure if various authors are talking teh same stuff.

And so am not sure what teh term platelets refers to.

But Ehret has exactly the same theory regarding the white blood cells, and says that the level should be zero in completely clean completely detoxed and mucusless body.

page 46-47 of mucusless diet healing system

So if platelets are what is othjerwise known as white blood cells that yes,

if platelets are oxygen carriers, than it is different issue, so lets the terminolgy clear first.

Perhaps platelets is the term agrreed by faked civilization medicine, and I completely forgot their language already ? laugh

Here is the website that explains it http://radicalhealth.com/issues/2003-10-06:dulse.html

Apparently if you have a low white cell blood count the doctor might misdiagnose it as leukemia so watch out. Do not take unnecessary chemo it is not needed if your 100% raw and body is clean. You will need to explain this to the doctor and your diet. Or better yet i wouldnt want to explain it to the doctor for fear that media will catch on and make sure raw food is banned.

CAUTION PLEASE:  Platelets are not the same as white blood cells at all.

Absolutely not! Platelets are what stops you from bleeding to death if you cut yourself - people with ... oh dang, I've forgotten what it's called. Well anyway, when there is damage to a blood vessel the platelets all stick together to form what is called a 'platelet plug' to stop more blood coming out. It's a really complex reaction but thats the bottom line.

I would think low platelets could be an issue in someone with HIV, not so much for them but others, due to the fact that they could bleed more after a small injury, putting the health of others at risk.

That said, I really don't think it's necessarily a good idea to trust conventional medical doctors on what is 'normal' or 'healthy.' Sure, platelets might be low compared to the standard curve they use but then we generally agree that other figures, such as recommended daily intakes of nutrients, are wildly exaggerated.

You've got me so interested, I'm half tempted to get my own levels tested!  laugh

Go on Freedom! The people I have spoken to have noticed the drop after 5 years of raw or more but it would be great to have a test done now and another in say three years and see the difference.

Hemophiliac?  I think that was what you were referring to?

Thank you Rudy for that. I'll pass it on and Miss G for the pm and raw connection for the link and the joke also!

Lots of good info here.

Hehe like i said in the healing thread, i can be slow lol.

After reading this http://www.chemocare.com/managing/low_blood_counts.asp i would say it would have to be a b12 and b vitamins problem, vitamin c and possibly vitamin A & zinc for immunity.

This site explains the foods to eat http://www.something-fishy.org/dangers/vitamins.php to get your different vitamins and also explains causes of not getting enough of them.

rudy, I used to wear glasses but since going raw I don't need them anymore, I used to put them on all day, now I don't even know where they are. (Yes I am the friend with the low White Bloods.)

I just got out my blood test results and Platelet count is normal, it's the White Cell count that is very low -  sorry Jen to confuse you.

Causes stated on the form include, immune destruction, drug toxicity, infections (especially viral) adn vitamin b12 or folate defiency. None of these are relevant to me as I don't get sick..(touch wood)... don't and have never taken drugs of any sort, am not b12 or folate deficient.

It's quite confusing because doctors talk about white blood count and platelets together. From what Freedom said the platelets help with blood clotting and it is well known that white blood cells are for immunity. So if your body does not consume cooked food which sends a rush of white blood cells out to counteract the foreign matter entering the body and raw food does not do this can we assume that if you don't have a high need for white blood cells then the body willl not produce extra?....

To confuse the issue even more, my white bloods have been low for a very long time, even before going raw - (found test dating back to 97 and 98 showing them to be low). but I have always eaten a very clean, unprocessed diet with a lot of raw foods anyway, and have never been a sickly person and always been energitic.

It would be good to know if anyone else has low white blood cells and how they are going. I have decided not to worry about mine but since we are here it would be good to know.

So Rudy..... now will you please explain the question about eyesight.... i'm intrigued!!!!
