I have found a fantastic face moisturiser and thought I would recommend it to you too: Organic Damask Rose Cream

I got it from Alfalfa House in Enmore (Sydney) I don't know where else sells it, I have looked but can't find it anywhere else.

It is quite expensive - about $39.00 per 100g.

However, 100g lasts for months, as it is highly concentrated and so you only need to use a tiny amount.

Ingredients: almonds, avocado, fresh rose petal extract, sesame, carrot, rose otto, geranium, calendula, wheatgerm, chamomile, natural vitamin E, coconut oil.

Since getting a tip on here from Sheryl a few months ago, I have changed my skincare routine. The new skincare routine, along with consuming vegetable juices, is getting me some wonderful positive compliments from friends and strangers alike.

In the morning, I cleanse my face with organic coconut oil. I gently rub it onto my face/neck and then remove with a damp warm cottonwool pad.

I then rub more coconut oil onto my face/neck and rinse it off with a warm face cloth (under the shower)

I then moisturise with the Damask Rose Cream.

In the evening, I cleanse my face with the coconut oil and then moisturise with the coconut oil.

And that's it.

My skin feels so soft.

Organic cream: is the coconut oil not organic?
Any use by date for the fatty ingredients eg avocado etc?
Chemically extracted or cold pressed Coconut ,avocado and almond?
Edible cream? If it is good enough to eat then it is healthy for skin too.
Sesame not organic?
Any fillers added that do not legally have to be put on the ingredient list?
Vitamin E : Rancid or fresh enough to eat?
Wheatgerm : Rancid ?
Price : At $400/ kg then it might be cheaper and just as beneficial to use pure coconut oil at $25 /Kg.

Are these questions or statements ??

No - you can't eat the Damask Rose Cream (unless of course you like the taste of rose otto and geranium!!)

Yes - you can eat the coconut oil.

The ingredients in the Damask Rose Cream are organic.

The ingredients in the Damask Rose Cream are cold pressed, not chemically extracted.

No fillers. Not rancid.

The Damask Rose Cream is made by a Naturopath.

The coconut oil is raw and was brought from the Raw Pleasure shop.

Yes the Damask Rose Cream is expensive. Yes it would be cheaper to use just coconut oil BUT I don't want to because my skin looks and feels fantastic since starting this skincare routine.

Anyway just a recommendation for anyone who wants to avoid toxic chemicals found in most commercial face creams.

Is that the Essential Therapeutics Damask Rose Cream?  Looks like it from the ingredients and price Smiley  Is wonderful stuff, Essential Therapeutics are one of the most ethical and well researched essential oils suppliers I know of, not very easy to find in shops, they're more a therapist brand than retail outlet brand.

I don't know. I have been trying to find out more about the Naturopath / company because I want to know if they make other products.

It does not come pre-packaged with a pretty label. You have to take your own containers, as it comes in bulk from Alfalfa House (a big white container) you just pump out how much you want.

Alfalfa House is a non-profit organic co-op and all their products are very ethical.

I first baulked at the price but the girls at Alfalfa House put it into perspective for me - (i.e.) you can spend $100 per 100g on a toxic chemical face cream at David Jones.

oooh, re-read your post a bit more carefully and realised you said it was made by a naturopath, also checked the Essential Therapeutics one and it has a few more ingredients, so it's not the same - I juest went by the name and the carrot and calendula, and the price.  The ET one has been around for over 10years, though I don't think they say everything is organic in it, just that a lot of it is wild crafted.  Looks like someone has made up their own version and saying it is organic, though I don't know of any supplier saying they have organic carrot oil, I wonder where they get it from, or could be the old you only need 95% of agricultural ingredients (so doesn't indcude water) to be able to call skincare organic - the essential oils are probably in the 5% (which is why I've got faith in ET, they tell you exactly what ingredient is/isn't organic/wild crafted/pesticide free, they don't label blends as organic/pesticde free/wild crafted/etc)  Having said that, with the extraction process for most essential oils, I doubt any pesticide residue would make it through anyway (a LOT of essential oils are steam distilled, ie not raw,  cold pressed or CO2 extract would be the closest to raw, but you get more pesticide in cold pressed (mainly used for citrus oils) and CO2 makes very expensive essential oils (the ET Damask Rose cream does use CO2 extract oils)))  Or it could be the old 'organic' means it contains carbon atoms basis for calling it organic, nothing to do with pesticides or how it was grown.

MV Skincare (Australian company) is about as close to organic as you can get (some of their stuff IS 100% organic), but it's over $100 for 100ml  downcast

If a moisturiser is hand made, in small batches, using high quality natural or organic ingredients it will usually cost more than the mass produced brands.

I make all my own skincare (have done for a few years now) and I use the best ingredients where possible.  And I only buy my herbs from a select group of organic or biodynamic farmers - I know them and like their energy, and trust them to grow their herbs with love and care.  That's the energy I want in my creams (coz I'm a lovin' and carin' kinda gurl).

My clients love it when I use coconut oil to cleanse during a facial.  Their skin feels softer, just from the cleansing alone.   And it smells so yummy too.   Think I'll go smell some now LOL.

KittyK...it's great you're getting compliments on your skin.  Keep it up.

You could read their report in their magazine at some libraries.

I could……….…but I don’t want to.

I cancelled my subscription to CHOICE last year.

They did a very negative and misleading article, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. And I came to realise that they may not be quite as “independent” as they claim to be.

What CHOICE say about fine lines and wrinkles may be true but I have no desire to ever read that publication again.

Not sure what CHOICE magazine has to do with my original post though.

I was simply recommending a nice face moisturiser, I wasn’t making claims about what it can and can’t do.

Hells Bells...................what is your problem??

I am simply recommending a nice moisturiser – what people do with that information is entirely up to them.

I expect most people on here will ignore it because most people on here are 100% raw vegans and only use extremely natural raw moisturisers (i.e.) ones that you can eat.

If people want to take it further, I am sure they are intelligent and resourceful enough to seek out the ingredient information and do the necessary research themselves.

NO thank you, I don't want a reference.

Lets keep it friendly guys. If someone is offering or asking for information we don't have to reply and we don't have to pay attention to it either. Move on to another post that you are interested in that is not going to get up your nose.

Kitty, it's great to hear you have found a product that you are happy with. It's nice to know that after a long time of feeling not so great about yourself that you are on the up and up.

The people at Alfalfa House are amazing and doing their best to provide better products for a safer world... maybe any questions about their product could be directed to them instead of one of their customers for a direct reply cutting out the middle man so to speak! They can be contacted at this address: info@alfalfahouse.org
