Hi All

I was just reading a David Wolfe thred on the net and he says that the most alkaline herb/food is medicinal mushrooms ie reishi mushrooms.

Has anybody taken any? What results have you had?
Any good suppliers on Oz?

I have been wondering  :rolleyes:the thing with the mushrooms for a while but abit cautious as I have heard alot of things with the magic mushrooms ect.

Any info would be gr88888.

i had some mushrooms in amsterdam many years ago and i would stay away from them. now that was a journey!

reishi mushrooms are great, i'm dying to try the one he gets off the side of a tree but am loathed to go get one myself in case i really will be dying, its russian roulette in the wild picking mushrooms unless you are an expert as some poisonous mushrooms disguise themselves as edible ones, though i used to know someone who just about lived off them which he picked from the wild, hes still kicking as far as i know.

Reishi is a type of bracket fungus (grows out from the side of a tree) and are not actually mushrooms. It's quite pretty with a glossy red/yellow top. I'm not sure there are any poisonous bracket fungus but please do not take my word on that.

Bracket Fungus on Wikipedia:

Reishi on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reishi

It's commonly called by the latin name in Australia "Ganoderma" and there's actually a multi network marketing company there selling coffee and toothpaste with Reishi in it. I'd prefer to go with the whole food than drink coffee to get it... but whatever works for people! I guess if you're drinking the coffee anyhow.

We bought some dried reishi in Canada and it's really really hard. It's basically a piece of wood. Even our mighty vitamix does not blend it up. The instructions read to boil water and make long soaking tea from it. I haven't explored it much yet. Maybe if I soak it overnight before blending.

Must run.. I'm in final stages of making raw pizza for a dinner in Toronto tomorrow.. busy day - lunch at a new raw food restaurant (grand opening), dinner at a raw food gathering, then Piers and I are going back for lunch at the new restaurant to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary!

Much love to all,
Sheryl

I just read the Wikipedia entry on Reishi... WOW. 50% complete disappearance of cancer tumours, healing bronchitis and more. I'm really impressed. I may just have to start using it today.
