LOL... I've not posted another vid as most of the ones I'm looking at are not relaxing or even that nice but oh the memories of 80's rock! Tight pants, acres of hair, heavy lidded looks, and that's just the men! Love it. Did Whitesnake ever do a vid without that girlie on the car? LOL again.

Pssst.... Jedi - the Bangles are touring in October!  No QLD dates though, yet.

I'm going to fly the Aussie/NZ flags - the live music scene in Australia 20 years ago was awesome.

Before the Models... James Freud..... I still have the vinyl single of this song, and I still love it!  laugh

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz_rvbItqZ4

And then there was Marty Wilson-Piper, who I thought was the most beautiful man on the planet.  His profile shot in this clip (about 1:20) still makes my knees weak...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sa--7P9HjQ

Then, of course there was the Enz - I still vividly remember standing in the middle of festival hall in Brisbane sobbing at their last concert.  RIP Paul.  heart

I could go on forever - The Reels, INXS (RIP Michael), Mental as Anything, Dragon (RIP Marc)

HOLY CACAO!!!!  I just found one of my favourite ever songwriters..... I was a James Griffin groupie, and used to spend Sunday afternoons at the Harold Park Hotel listening to James Griffin & the Subterraneans and Marty Wilson-Piper during his solo days.  I have a deep love of Youtube all of a sudden.  I'm playing this on repeat all afternoon....

My goodness, I am swooning....

I have a deep love of Youtube all of a sudden.

Agreed, I like being able to recall an obscure band of the early 80's
then track their entire career
up to a pudgy balding 40 y/o banging out his hits in seedy nightclubs

not that there is anything wrong with being 40 balding and pudgy

Oh Miss G, your post brought back memories.   The best concert I EVER went to was to see INXS at Coolangatta,  around 1982/3.  Small venue, heat, sweat, screaming....the whole crowd danced as one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpJrtCmcoq0 this was the first band I ever saw - at the old Playroom.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joto7Bqnf5o&feature=related nice shots of Rob Hirst - I was in love with him....and Fess from The Radiators.

Everytime Radiators played in Surfers my best friend would travel 5 hours to see them with me - now that's dedication.

I can't get over how young these guys look to me now - so baby faced.  These days, we're all looking much older, I'm sure.

Sanghama - I have very fond memories of the Playroom.  We'd go there on a Saturday night, and to the Underground (Brisbane) on a Sunday night.  Great times!

And about "travelling" for gigs.....  I once drove from Sydney to Brisbane to discover that we were immediately off to Dalby because Mental as Anything were playing.  And, it felt totally natural to travel thousands of kms to see a band play in a school gym!  Times have changed.

But, this one's for you Sanghama....

I still miss him.  heart downcast

And, I've been looking for this one FOREVER!!!!

These guys were (in my humble opinion) ahead of their time.  The late 80s was too early for them - they would have taken over the world in the 90s.  laugh

Still, the Ferris brothers are akin to DJ royalty now, so they have still made their mark, but I loved Flotsam Jetsam.  I wish the sound quality was better on this.  I've only got it on vinyl, and I have no way to listen to it anymore.

Again, I am just loving youtube in a BIG way.  heart  I feel like I've struck gold today.  laugh

Nope, you can't.  I think every teenage boy knew all the words to that song.  Of all Australian songs ever, I think that is the one I've heard the most!  laugh

And you can't be sad listening to this one....

Snap!  I loved Born Free too.

Did you ever see Daktari, Les?

Clarence the cross-eyed Lion was my big crush as a child. Other than Lancelot Link (secret chimp) - Clarence was my greatest animal love as a little miss.  I just loved that lion.  laugh
