Hello to all you lovely people in this forum,

Some of your messages instantly inspire me on this raw journey i have been trying to attempt! i just have a few questions, probably very stupid ones to those of you that have been living this lifestyle for so long.  I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what bragg liquid aminos is? and whether it is called this in Australia? its in alot of recipes in my new book i just purchased..

And also, does this way of life seem expensive? i know you should never put a price on health but i am back in Adelaide visiting my parents - i live in country SA.  I went to the local suntrail store to stock up on raw nuts etc.. and walked out with hardly anything and it cost me a fortune? i find that many recipes have alot of nuts in them and it seems as if i will be spending a fortune every week - especially as my husband eats a typical australian diet?

Not to worry i suppose but was just wondering what everyones opinion was? i am so keen to start this lifestyle, i have been trying for a long time..

Thank you for your comments, they will be much appreciated..

Hi Nicky and welcome. Lucky you to be in Adelaide. The raw community there is amazing. If you want to learn to live cheaply then you have some wonderful people there to tell you where to go.... in the nicest way of course!

PM Berrybliss. She just started a great thread somewhere about cost. I think it's called something like "guess how much I spent on food in a fortnight". Good stuff! she also has raw parties and the like.

Hi Nic

I am fairly new to this forum and eating raw as well. Welcome! I have also found that I am spending a fair bit of money given that I am only buying for myself. Particularly, when I buy organic nuts and dried fruits. I have also found that some of the items that are mentioned in the recipes are specialty lines and come with a specialty price tag, lol. I have a lot to learn. I think we would spend less if we were lucky enough to be in buying groups and shared the benefits of buying in bulk.

I believe that my body and my health are worth whatever it costs. I also believe that we are very lucky to live in this beautiful coutry where fruit and vegetables are plentiful and generally easy to obtain.

Enjoy your journey....

Love and Hugs

Hey BB,

Thank you so much for your invitation, that is so so kind of you! i am leaving my parents house and heading back to the country this afternoon, back to work.. BOO HOO!! i should be down again in Adelaide in a couple of months, maybe i could visit then if the invitation was still there? Im always poping back and forth when i have a few days off in a row.   I hope by that stage i would have been "fingers crossed" (more rawer) by then?

I think you guys are EXACTLY what i need, you are so full of wonderful information and you all give eachother so much support. I keep feeling like a failure and i think its because i under estimate the quantity i am allowed to eat.. I have to get in the mind set of im allowed to eat as much as i want if im hungry! and not just turn back to my old habits like chocolate for a fix!! i know, its terrible!

I think i also find this hard as the people around me dont understand why i would want to be a vegetarian let alone only eat raw foods, so the support is pretty low! I normally keep my vegetarianism to myself! I have told my husband all about the raw lifestyle for a long time, he thinks it would be great for me and is very understanding, but he also is the culprite for me falling off the wagon many times.

Thankyou so much for the almond milk recipe, i am just about to make it this morning, cant wait to taste it! i bet its great!  Well i could write forever so ill leave it at that..

Thank you again, cant wait to meet you, the potlucks sound great!

(although if i brought the dehydrated carrot pecan burgers (or shall i say crumble) i made yesterday to the potluck i dont think i would be invited back again.. ha ha.. trial II today)...

Is that because raw food is FREE? You just go and pick it?

well, speaking for myself (Maltese) raw is pretty expensive cos i have to order speciality items by internet and P&P is very expensive.  Fruit and Veg is expensive too here and Malta is not a 'green' country - so no fields to go pick veg from!!!  But when I compare my weekly shop to 'meat-fastfood-convenience-foods-eating -people' I am actually coming off good!!
