My hubby went through a grieving process when i found out i was gluten intolerant. Were both gourmet beer lovers, would love buying a special beer and tasting and talking bout it together. He felt like his world was crashing.

Slightly off topic but there is a gluten-free beer available in Australia; don’t know if they export overseas:

http://www.gfbeer.com.au/

Not quite the same as having a specialised gourmet beer but not a bad substitute.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!  I prematurely joined the 60 day challenge after attending a raw food talk, but I was not prepared for how much there is to know and how hard it is to change your life to raw!

Especially when everyone around you at work and home is addicted to cooked food.  I will keep on reading and keep on making progress, I think gradually is the best way for me at the moment till I know more.

What do you eat for breakfast?  That is one of the hardest meals for me!

You would be better off starting this as a brand new topic – you will probably get more answers that way.

However, to answer your question -

My breakfast is in stages:

At 6.00am, I have a fresh juice to literally break-the-fast. I have 250ml of carrot, orange, lemon and ginger juice.

At 8.30am upon arriving at work, I have a banana.

At 10.00am during morning tea, I have a mixed chopped fruit salad (i.e.) this morning I had a passion fruit, apple, plum, grapes and a persimmon. I normally have five mixed fruits, types change depending on the season.

At 11.30am, I normally have another banana (although this morning I had an Anzac biscuit which was hideously sweet)

Then at 1.00pm I have lunch.

(The only time there is any variation to this routine is…….if I arrive at work with a hangover. Then I will have a toasted focaccia sandwich with fried bacon, cheese, tomatoes & avocado – yes, yes, I know, naughty, naughty, slap my wrist)

As I said better to start a new thread for more replies.

Breakfast - I used to have a big green smoothie every morning and sip on it while I read my email, etc.

But on the weekend I got to try the best raw cereal around - Panda's recipe from the free e-book - and it is delicious.  So the last few mornings I've had about 2-3 tablespoons of that with some juice.  Keeps me satisfied until breakfast time.......of course it's not quite as nice as the one Panda makes herself LOL

Thanks KittyK

Yeah there are a few gluten free brands these days. I cut alcohol out about a year ago but, when i really crashed badly i cut alot of things out. Im yet to reintroduce any alcohol and arent really willing to until im 100%, im determined to not just manage my illness but be well. But when i do i think some gluten free beers as a treat, say at chrissy or my birthday might be nice, so i can have a beer with hubby again.

Brekky

Since my blender broke, no smoothies for a while, boooo, lol.

Usually i like whole fruit as is, especially a melon like rockmelon or honeydew, just cut it open and munch away. But if its colder (like today) i want something heavier and warmer. So i grate some apple and pear, add some ground sesame seeds and sultanas, and a little warm water from the kettle, yum.

I also like some chopped up bananna, berries, and ground flax seeds, with a little water to combine.

Or, a berry mix on its own with the flax seeds, sultanas, water, and put the bowl in a bigger bowl of hot water to slowly heat it. Leave that for 20mins and you come back to warm syrupy goodness.

Also, nut butter with sliced bananna and sultanas, and a little water is a fairly solid brekky (or good anytime).

Sprouted buckwheat makes a good brekky base to add fruit to.

breakfast for me today was 2kg of grapes. that was after 1.5 hours easy spin on the bike.
i always start the day with around a liter of water, BEFORE eating anything.

i average 3500calories intake a day. so each meal is at least a 1000cals. thats 10 bananas or 5kg of rockmelon, or 1.5kg grapes or a bike helmet full of persimmons....whatever is in season and appealing. i eat enough to carry me to the next meal.

I play the Double Bass, violin, and flute.  I play Bass in orchestras and teach music at a secondary school.  I love music, and I try and share that with my classes.  It is easy to get discouraged when sometimes students are not open to new styles of music - they only want to listen to or play the songs they already know.

back on topic, Im still around.

I dont post anymore because I got too emotionally invested in discussions. It was spilling over to my outside life.

I am still raw, as is my husband and life has never been better.

I come to the forum a few times a week to check if there's any interesting facts or news. I also still get a lot of inspiration from reading posts from people such as Ivan, John, Sach or BerryBliss.

Im able to read threads now without feeling threatened by what people say, because Im not contributing. I take the information that is relevant to my situation and forget the rest by turning off the computer.

My life is a lot less tense now that I removed the emotion from my daily food routine. I just eat enough and often without thinking about it too much. I feel the joyous effects of raw and am dealing with emotions as they arise, but I've uncomplicated the whole process by not constantly and minutely scrutinizing it on a daily basis.

I give friends and family this web address whenever they are interested in finding out more about raw.

Hey Chelle  laugh
Great to hear you’re doing so well and still inspired by raw.
  laugh laugh laugh

Emotion can play a big part in people’s lives when it comes to food. (Especially raw) and managing that is one obstacle we all try to overcome. Chelle you said it perfectly when you said " dealing with emotions as they arise"
As opposed to bottling them or letting them spill into everyday life. So a big well done to you  afro

Cheers
