the plant is only as good as the seed....
we have to accept years of health abusing lifestyle dont always go away with raw living. all we can do is do our best.

i live where i can get access to quality food. im not prepared to sacrifice my health anymore. health for me is my main priority. everything else can wait. cos if im not healthy, my family, friends, relationships, finances, sport etc suffers...health is the backbone on which everything sits. lets make it strong!

teeth issues stem from a lot more things than diet. overwork, overtraining, stress etc creates a lot of acid in the mouth.

dried fruit is best eat'n soaked or blended. that way it doesnt get caught in the gaps and create issues. look at the foods we were brought up on..paste like foods that get stuck in gaps. fresh fruit is the most mouth cleansing calorie...

if people had tooth problems from eating fruit, dr doug graham would have zero teeth! he has above average teeth and had fillings before he was even vegan...same goes for roger haeske, david wolfe, tim trader, roz gruben, david klien, roe gallo, vivian vetrano etc whom have eat more fruit in a year than average people eat in a decade or more!

but open the phone book and look how many dentists there is...you call any dentist and you have a .00001% chance of them having even heard of a raw vegan..

me? i dont have the sore teeth i used to. i had pus coming out of my gums and hardcore tooth aches. i can honestly say since eating the most alkalising diet on the planet (811) if had the best chompers of my life!

grab a copy of 811 and sink your teeth into it!

Hey thanks for the reply! I definitely agree that there's WAY too many dentists out there, and it seems that they all like to take care of the symptoms rather than the root of the problem. Hence my decision to look for other solutions. I guess it just is a little alarming that I should get the beginnings of cavities, but I"m really hoping I can get that under control.

Can't say I'm under much stress at the moment though; I've mostly just been enjoying life for the last little while. That's why it's time now to work again. Alas, not so much time for relaxing, but at least a lot of sunshine, and we all know how good Vitamin D is to us, right?

I've actually been avoiding dried fruit all together, and sticking to fresh fruits and veggies and a minimum of nuts, avocadoes.  I haven't looked at Doug Graham's book, though I've pieced together this and that from secondary information about it.  I'm curious, does he discuss teeth issues in his book?

ive read hundreds of raw and cooked health books. no other covers dental hygiene in such a profound way. it makes sense, it answers a lot of questions and it works.

BIG tip that i see people overlook'n time and time again...that is 'not knowing how much calories is roughly in each meal/food type. and how much they carbs they need to consume to stay raw or stay training.'

ie a large ripe spotty banana has around 20g of carbs. for someone like me weighing 61 kg thats around 600g of carbs at the recomend 10g per kg ratio of someone doing a couple of hours a day moderate exercise..double that if your training 5 hours a day.

what does 600g of carbs look like? around 30 LARGE ripe bananas.

i met someone the other day whom felt guilty after eating 2. they said they just keep bingeing on fruit...and yes they had ZERO idea of how much calories etc was needed or in the foods they choose.

feelings of guilt and impairing their health cos they simply choose to overlook the importance of having just a basic idea of how much fruit is enough..

thanks for the tip, that gives me a really good idea that i need to eat more, can eating this much fruit be a problem when you're still eating relatively high fat gourmet foods?

trav you need to read 811..lol!

i downed piles or raw vegan mudcakes worldwide. i used all the raw cafe food as transitional. i remember few years back cycling seattle to los angeles 100% raw vegan. once i had raw pizza for breakfast. just because. lol!
i went to every raw cafe i saw and sport ate the menu. spent a few grand to satisfy my desires. worked out that i couldnt get enough carbs eating that way. couldnt get the fitness i wanted. eventually my body rejected the high fat, salt, oil, seaweeds etc and they are totally off the menu for me now. these foods help me transition. its not fair to say they are better than fruit like a lot of leaders are saying. its not fair to say that no one should eat them initially. but just remember they are transitional tools till you learn how to eat in a way that will sustain the active lifstyle that provides true abundant health.

ive the saying 'raw tropicanavegana pizza will help you obtain raw, sufficient sweet juicy fruit consumption will help you sustain raw..'

a question i have been getting asked for the last 7 years as a vegan...'where you get your protein from?' . well i dont. i just provide my body with raw live fresh amino acids and let my body turn that into protein.

mothers breast milk is 6% under calorically 'protein'. fruits are typically 6% average 'protein'.

one only has to read the 'china health study' or '80/10/10' to have sound opinion backed on proven science.

we can be eating a junk food raw diet and gettting junk food results. then we give those around us a junk based opinion on the lifestyle. its vital we become healthy fit vibrant examples. otherwise we are just giving the lifestyle a bad rep..

another question comes up often 'what about those olympic athletes that kick your ass?...'.

society is ignorant to 2 things. how all we need to thrive is found in raw plant foods AND how much drugs pro sports people guzzle to win big events..

i know crew that win world cups etc. they eat crap. sure its high carb low fat with plenty of vitamin supplements daily. (i know guys that inject b12 before important races and take it orally every hour of a race!)
but if you said to em 'ok today no coffee, no hormones, no hgh, no meth, no ephidrine etc, they ALL would be like 'what?!, how we gonna perform?'

that is cos they cant. they cant perform without the constant whipping of their adrenals. they wake up and kick em awake with coffee, kick em with refined sugar, kick em with some pep pills out training or some red bull, kick em at dinner with some animal adrenaline, kick kick kick..no wonder we see the same rate of cancer, heart disease in retired athletes as sedentary people...all that abuse catches up.

give me any athlete, any person and i will have em setting pb's.
i come from a background of poor health. i was the dude that got picked last on sports day. becoming a vegan then a raw vegan turned me from chronic fatigue adrenal depleted couch potatoe to winning state 24 hr solo mountain bike races...representing australia in paris brest paris and setting the fastest unsupported time ever by an australian rider.

sometimes i dream of what could be if i started fitness lifestyle when i was a child instead of a 20 year old.  but thats living in the past. all we can do is live in the moment and be grateful for what we have. build on what we have and compare ourselves to where we were, and how far we have got. when we start to compare ourselves with others thats lack mentality. cos we can always find someone eating mcdonalds and feel better. we can always find someone doing more and we feel guilty. our ego always is looking for someone to justify our complacency. 'oh they are too extreme, or they are too slack, or if only someone was doing what i want'..

focus on what your doing. focus on truth and honesty. focus on doing what best supports mother nature long term.
only then can we really start covering some meaningful ground. as anything else is just gettting caught up in the meaningless distractions we call society..aka 'numbsville'..

thanks harley. i have read some of 811 but not the lot. it definitely is a good book. staying raw is the priority at the moment but i do hope to lower the fat content of my diet eventually and i think 811 would be the best and plus i love fruit and could eat it alone. i made a raw satay tonight and i thought to myself, "this isn't even enjoyable". a cooked one would be even worse with the mouth burning ect and i just had a simple apple and enjoyed it more. fruit does seem so biologically right or more so instinctive and natural. it tastes good and is good for us. i have a question, how long would you say it should take for somebody transitioning through raw before they jumped into 811? i'm sure if i did it now it might be a bit to much but then i certainly can't stay on high fat raw forever. oh and one more question, do you know anybody who works a job through the day on 811? I wonder if I could actually stand working if i were on a high energy diet even if it was something i enjoyed on a mental level. Sometimes when I eat enough fruit i just have this unbelievable desire to be outside ie not stuck in a retail job indoors all day. which brings me to another question, how exactly does one leave the world of materialism and being stuck in fulltime jobs. when i go to teach english it will be a means of supporting myself however i don't believe i am seeking material gain. perhaps i'll just teach english part time in japan and go back and travel around asia and the world as a raw foodist after i finish university. now i'm rambling so i'll finish this here.

great questions!

low fat raw vegan compels us to ONLY  do what we want to do! lol! i find it impossible to do ANYTHING i dont want to do!..

how much cash do i need to fuel the tank and keep my bike running safe? not much.
today im wearing a durian t shirt a mate gave me. some 8 year old shorts. my socks are 9 years old and the sandals are a sponsorship freebie. click back 10 years to when i was wearing gucci, gold and all that meaningless junk and earing 1200$ a week working a job i hated to buy crap i didnt need..'keep'n the economy strong' as george bush said recently..

so i lead the spartan lifestyle. its what i enjoy most. 13k a year and im living the lifestyle i dreamed of. sleeping outdoors, eating organic, foraging daily, enough time to hang with gran, stop and have a conversation with someone in the community, help people society doesnt have time for etc etc.

no car
no debt
no mobile
no kids (had vasectomy)
no address
no phone number
no cooked foods
no animal products

ie im trying to live the lifestyle with minimal footprint on the planet. funny enough its also the one that requires least cash. imagine a world of simplicity? thats what im trying to create. yeah i could ditch the whole money gig and go live out bush and become a hermit. but id rather contribute to society by showing crew that all we need is love, peace and some durian grease!

it comes down to doing only what we want to do. and being grateful in the moment.
you think the scientist working at monsanto really wants to make a food product additive that causes birth defects?
you think the soldier firing depleted uranium at kids in iraq wants to do that?
you think the lab workers shelving solar patents and other ways of green energy want to do that?
you think the dude chopping down old growth forrests in tassie wants to do that?
you think the dude putting meat hooks in animals faces in the slaughterhouse wants to do that?
you think the worker spraying insecticide, lavacide, fungicide, rodenticide, herbicide on the food products that are served in EVERY school canteen you know want to do that?

so what can we do? we can improve daily in our quest to actually leave half a planet intact for the future generations.
around 6 billion people share this planet. how many of em know how to live more green? a fraction. we got a lot of people to reach n teach. that lifes meant to be a session eat'n peach on da beach!

we are getting more free durian than we can eat. the locals are piling on the spikies to keep us nourished. kg's of rambutan, mangosteen and duku just keep flow'n. but  you can only eat so much calories in a day. we have to ride extra miles just to keep our hosts happy we are eating enough. they are concerned about our fruit lifestyle and make sure their is WAY more fruit than us 5 can guzzle. so please, come over and help us down the durian and co. its a spiky job, but someones gotta do it..

this arvo i went on a ride with 50 thai cyclists. couple of regional champs i was told. i felt a little intimidated but then my true self kick'd in and 'i said id rip the legs off em!'. after a couple of hours we hit the last bit of large highway. then its was a 10km time trial of who could hang on behind the motorbike that was acting as a pacer. i put myself in the hurt box and set a goal of snapping my bike in half with the power i was generating. i didnt break my bike but dropped all but 1 guy. from 50 down to 2 of us...then i attacked once more and passed him and took out the city limit sprint. all this with 'go vegan' written across the ass of my cycling shorts.. what a great feeling to kick butt and spread a health message!

i aint no science buff. i let my legs do the talk'n...if in doubt, come for a ride, then youll find out..

at this internet cafe is open air. a thai teen just lit up a smoke and i straight away googled up the most graphic pictures of lung cancer i could find. you know the ones they split open cadavers for..the pus ozzing sicko stuff. i didnt even have to wave him over to my screen. my intensity called him over! truly! he just walked over to see what a 'farang' was looking up. i spoke a little thai to him and showed him the pictures...he was shocked and told his mates. even the proprietor of this cafe came over and gave me a thumbs up!

id rather have people hate me for being myself than like me for being someone else...ie: say what you mean..not what your supposed to say..sure you might lose your current job by being truthful, but by living a lie your just crushing your spirit. that aint gonna serve no one worthwhile..

here is a blog entry me mate darrick wrote about our daily durian experiences here in thailand near the cambodian border..its as follows..enjoy. see ya.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
-Martin Luther King Jr.

Harley and Myself have been  givin a free apartment to use for a while....it is  in a quaint little village out of Chanthiburi....it even has this internet cafe here....It is nice to meet our Thai neighbors and be in an even slower  paced environment then other bigger cities....today it rained all day..I just relaxed at our place and watched the neighbors,  watched people go by,  sat on the porch and ate several delicious Thai "apple bananas",  sweet and juicy!......
Last evening we had a local Thai friend, Bama   show us his  grandfathers fruit farm.   Bama works as a bicycle mechanic  in Chanthiburi.   The farm had many fruit trees: Rambutan, Mangosteen, Durian, Coconut, etc....  Very lush ....I  saw many farms on the bike ride there too....
Its amazing how well we can survive and Thrive off a fruit diet as humans, but so many fruit trees are being cut down to make rice fields......Cutting down fruit trees seems to take away the homes of many animals and birds too....Fruit eating is so simplistic and delicious....With all the abundance of fruit here in these Asian countries, I wish more locals would try a fruit meal   instead of a rice meal then see if they feel healthier and more energetic......Yesterday I covered many  miles on foot and bicycle and  did yoga and strength training, and had an  abundance of energy from eating a breakfast of mangosteens, Coconut waters, and some durian...it sure is fun to  make time to think about and try different styles of eating and find what diet I thrive the most on that is the best for animals and environment and simple.
Harley and I are doing our best to educate the local kids about being Vegan and eating more fruits....we show them the fliers about all the abuse KFC allows to the innocent chickens before the slaughter them, we eat fruit around kids and others, we tell everyone we like the natural food and we dont eat meat....people are interested here...I feel being a voice for animals is even more powerful in countries that seem to admire the Westerners look and views.....Very fun and easy  to contribute here.

good job your doing both of you with your presence there...

keeping positive-happy and enjoying your fruit too...!
good actions and hope attract always right people/conditions around to help us move along our path and find the meaning... things are going to change in one or other way we know...

isnt it time to educate ourselves and to learn how to live happy on Planet Earth with all the fruits, gardens and abundance?

there was a rice-shortage in Asia not late ago and everyone was wondering where to get carbs...?!

people were talking about potatoes , but Thai people do not like potatoes hey , so what about all the fruit there, all people should know this facts?!?!

have a good time, keep in touch
