Just purely out of interest.

Who and how many raw foodies are musicians?
I know dbass and brett are, but who else?

Do you have myspaces, band websites, and songs for download?

Are you influenced/inspired by raw, veganism, health?

Even if you just write songs/poems.

Just to get the ball rolling:
I play guitar (acoustic, electric) bass, drums, piano, synth, violin, pan pipes and tin whistles.
I’m basically session musicians with a few local bands and have my own solo projects, but would love to collaborate with other like minded musos.

Cheers

ooooh a muso thread, love it!!!

I play 6/12 string accoustic/electric guitar, piano, dbass, clarinet and some flute. I have always wanted to learn to play a harp and some of the other folk stringed instruments (think lyre, mandolin) as well as a lap-steel.

I think being raw has enabled me to be more creative and perhaps push a little deeper into that source of creativity. I have also walked (and am constantly walking - after all life is a refining and enlightening process) the path of personal development which means I am now more confident to try new things and that of course leads to more experiences and that in-turn influences ever more creativity, etc, round it goes.

Generally speaking I would say that raw foodies tend to be less, umm, shall we say... involved in commercial past-times (and things that are mind numbing like watching loads of tv) and thus more open to all things artistic and nature inspired.

I have been in two bands, but now that I have two kids I am less able to contribute in that arena. I hope to get back to it though! It doesn't mean we don't enjoy live performances or a variety of cultural music.

Tonight is african drumming night, something else I would like to explore more.

And pipes...

...and those gorgeous grand organs in the huge cathedrals...

...and, and, and...

Ahh, so much to explore - if only we lived a thousand years at least...

OK guys, I've got an idea.

Do either of you have the ability (resources/knowhow) to record yourselves? If you can record yourself, we could collaborate in an on line fashion. An on line Raw Pleasure music collaboration project, if you will. I've done this before (not here of course), and it can work really well. If you have a computer (lol), an audio input (like a microphone, preferably an OK one), and some software like Cakewalk (PC) or Garage Band (mac), then it's totally doable. Even non musicians could contribute if they wanted to. Short spoken bits could be incorporated into a piece of music quite easily.

Great idea brett   laugh
I think iv got a 5 year old fruity loops programme here somewhere too.
So very do-able!
Anyone else want to join in?

"I have always wanted to learn to play a harp and some of the other folk stringed instruments (think lyre, mandolin) as well as a lap-steel." - Dragonfly_emi. One of my solo projects is "Norwiegan folk music. " Using some of those instruments. The project is called "ULV-IL-SORG." Some of the sounds are keyboards but I like it.

I also have a dark ambient very atmospheric project called "SILENT COCOON" Ive done about 10 or so songs for that one. Mainly keyboards, synth, and elctric guitars

Also a current heavy underground solo project called "STRZYSKOLL" but I think we'll leave that alone here!

So Brett my next question is what sort of music do you think it should be? I'd like to try some blues n roots style feel good music, what do you think?

A starting point could be a nice "raw food poem", then a decision regarding the choice of instruments, ie. who can play what, how well, and what sort of music the like to play. Then one person could set the poem to music, and orchestrate it for those instruments. Then you'd start laying down tracks.

Another approach is for some one to just lay down a track, then pass it on.. the next person records one track, then passes on those two tracks, and so on until you have a bunch of tracks. Ultimately it would take some tasteful post production mixing and editing to make it all gel. There is a music project that was done like that, using indigenous peoples from around the world. Some of the tracks were recorded while the musicians only got to hear selected previous tracks.. it worked well.

i'm not sure if this is correct but i've heard that bon jovi was raw or has been raw and it was a real good way for him to improve his image and boost his career again. he does look younger now but maybe he's been under the knife. maybe somebody can confirm this for me.

I  used to dabble in bass and accoustic guitar, and violin years back and since living high-raw I am being more inspired to get out the guitar!

Sounds wonderful and wish you the best!
