Hi Venus

I'm thoroughly enjoying super-nutrition through juice-feasting to start my day! Typically I will juice a HUGE bunch of that large-leafed spinach (stems and leaves) with a head of celery, a kilo of carrots, a cucumber and whatever else takes my fancy that day. This will give me 2-3 litres of juice.

I can truthfully say that the quickest and most dramatic positive changes in face/skin/body occurred after I started juicing like this (about 3 months into biegn raw)

So it's absolutely YES to the spinach from me. My body loves the stuff!!! :-)

I do prefer baby spinach though, it has not got such a strong flavour but then it does not really bother me.

Which juicer have you got Love Spirit, I really like to increase my juicing so I am looking for a new one..

Hi EVe

It's a Breville juice fountain that I bought about 3 years ago. From what I've read it's very good quality for its class which is not really for hard core raw foodists but pretty decent as a general family juicer.

It's very quick but you do have to get the pulp out at times if you're making a lot of juice. I don't think it splits the cellulose walls in greens so if I were to buy a new one now I'd go straight to a Green Star for optimum nutrition.

A yes from me as well on big leaf spinach and silver beet too (I'm not sure if you are speaking of English spinach or silver beet).

Silver beet shredded finely is a beautiful base for a greens-packed salad.

Raw wilted greens are gorgeous too.  A little olive oil can be massaged through the greens, cover with plastic wrap and pop into the dehydrator or the sun for an hour or so.

And a resounding YES to vegetable juices.  heart

LS - I've got the same juicer.

It can certainly be eaten raw but I believe you should not eat too much because it contains oxalic acid.

Not sure what this acid does, either builds up and is “bad” for you or it blocks the absorption of a vitamin in your body.

Sorry to be so vague. I have read it in loads of books; I just can’t remember the exact specifics.

Found this link though, which may explain more.

I prefer juicing spinach to blending.

If I had the cash I would buy a Green Star and I plan to up grade one day in the future, just waiting for that big Lotto/Powerball win first  laugh

Currently got an Oscar Vital Max 900 - I use it everyday (used it five times today so far) and it is fantastic, I love it. Best juicer I have ever owned.

Easily chews through hard veggies - carrots, pumpkin, beetroot, etc...but also works extremely well for soft veggies like spinach, lettuce, wheatgrass etc...

Brought it from this site.

It is difficult for the amount of oxalic acid in any green to build up to a toxic level. Yes all greens do have them but they're not really harmful unless you overdose on them. Sergei Boutenko in one of his Green for Life talks suggested rotating greens and to avoid this. So yes if you ate nothing but spinach in large amounts this could happen but because we are meant to eat a variety of foods and "rotate" this shouldn't be a problem.
Hope this helps. I believe too much of any one thing can be toxic but i'm sure too much of a cooked food would be more toxic than too much of a raw food.
