It's been 1760 days, or so, since I went raw (end of July 2003). I suddenly felt an urge to start a journal here. Well, I do not have anything to say today lol! Not yet. There is this feeling of wanting to move forward. So, let it begin.

Welcome to your journal Smiley

How were the Compania markets - if you ended up going? I am planning on going next time if they're on in winter

Have a delightful day 1760!

Hi Jungle!!! Smiley Yes, we went there, and ... it wasn't on (and won't be on until later this year)! Luke said "third time lucky" (this was our second time of going to a farmer's market that wasn't on ha ha). Still, we had some fun driving around. We went to the maze in Richmonds. I got my family to test this way of getting out of maze, which is "stick to one side". It works! We did not find the centre of the second maze though... But we did get out!  ohyeah

Foreword:

I don’t feel particularly drawn to cooked. That’s not to say that I haven’t had any since I embarked on my raw food journey. I’ve been everywhere during my journey, tried many things, learned a lot. I do not feel a particular attachment to any guilt about what I eat, or any rules about how to eat. I do feel though an intense desire to deepen the connection with my biological instincts that I have reconnected with through my recent years’ explorations. I feel hungry if I do not get fresh food. My desire for freshness is so strong that it’s impossible to ignore it. Raw food follows me. This journal is not about where I’ve been, but where I am and will be. I want it to be a place of moving forward. Welcome to my journal.

That raw 'pizza' that your gorgeous daughter is holding looks spectacular - do you have a recipe for it? Would you share it please?
I believe even my fussy 5yo girl who has spinach 'hidden' laugh in all her food would eat that no problem!

Thanks,
Niqi

Actually, Julia likes taking toppings off pizzas, cooked or raw lol! She will accept the above pizza with tomato sauce and pineapple, but the other one (with all the stuff on it) is for daddy (Luke). She has no problem with fruit smoothies however. I think kids have the natural instinct for fruit and uncomplicated meals. I wouldn't want to kill that! I too think simple is the best.

RED PIZZA
Base (ingredients enough for 2 bases):
Blend 2 cups buckwheat in a food processor, add a good handful of mixed Italian herbs, carrots (about 5) and blend, add 1 cup gound (in a coffed grinder) flax seeds, then 2 cups of water (spreading around the dough) and blend again. Form into a pizza (nearly forgot this one, phew!). Dehydrate flipping once (takes a few hours) until firm (but not hard like a rock).
Topping:
Tomato sauce: sun-dried tomatoes and water, or dehydrated tomato halves with basil, parsley and water, blended. Then top up with cut up pineapple pieces. Or, splash out (for daddy) with thinly cut up tomatoes, mushrooms, capsicum, pineapple pieces, chopped up parsley. Warm up in the dehydrator before serving.

GREEN PIZZA (Luke's favourite:)
Base as above. For the topping, blend 4 cups of spinach, 1 avocado, lemon juice, spread on the pizza. Top up with thinly sliced cucumber, broccoli, snow peas, chopped up parsley.

PS I'm hearing you on the fruit smoothies;
my 11 month old girl really hoes into mushed up banana, strawberry and spinach. The more green I get into her the  better! And at this stage, she'll grow up loving it (I hope!)

5 year old needs a bit of pizzazz to eat her fruit at lunch, she loves colorful boxes, but I think she's the only preppie who's happy to hoe into plain avocado.

Fruit DOESN'T have to be squashed and mouldy at the bottom of a school bag, like it seemed to be in the prehistoric school days of my time!

hugs and thanks again,
Niqi

What matters most

Obviously, it is not what I eat. I am acutely aware of how fragile my existence is, and I am well beyond a point in my live when I realized how valuable is the gift of life I have been given. Of course, I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. My goal for life is being ALIVE, as much as I can. I do not want to waste a minute of my life. Wasting life is easy, there are so many opportunities for it. Anger, selfishness, possessiveness, lack of care, for example. I am acutely aware that the humans that got to the heights of humanity are those who have loved the most, those who have served others the most. One of those lovely humans is Amma, who I absolutely adore. She hugs thousands of people every day, and has hugged millions thus far. Her actions resulted in houses, schools and hospitals built for homeless, orphaned, poor. The first hug I got from her lifted some heavy stone of my shoulder, and filled me with love that I had never experienced before. Amma eats whatever people feed her, Indian vegetarian cooked diet. Her aura goes through a roof of any hall she goes to hug people. It is not a raw food diet that can make anyone a pure soul. It is the love in their hearts. Obviously.

How do I enjoy my life? For example, one day, a few days ago, I saw from our kitchen window that the persimmon tree Luke planted has finally some fruit on it yay!!! I run to the backyard, calling kids, as if I saw a miracle lol (for it is a miracle, isn't it?).
