A miracle, how does such a skinny tree hold so much fruit, lol.  Great pics.

Beauhemian, me too lol!

Lulu, exactly. At first when we got the tree, I was wondering how on earth it will ever produce anything at all. But no, a determined little creature did! And, wow, so profously in its only second year of life.

Moving Forward
Part 1. I am a farmer

In our backyard there are several fruit trees and fruit bushes, some planted by Luke, which are still young (miracles waiting to happen) and some that were here already when we moved in (and these produce fruit in aboundance). In the frontyard, there are orange and mandarine trees. There is a gooseberry, which I wanted, inspired by my childhood memories. My grandparents were farmers, but after the end of the second world war, they were removed from their property to an industrial, coal producing city. They bought a little parcel of land outside town and changed it into a magnificent garden, full of tree and bushes, a fairy land. I used to climb on trees there, eat fruit from the bushes and trees, and have fun exploring around. My grandad build a little garden house with a fire-place and a self-composting toilet. Now, that I think of this, I have a great appreciation and admiration for what they did. One of the bushes there was a gooseberry bush, producing sweet golden berries, which I stuffed myself with so many times. So now I have a gooseberry bush in my garden, in the frontyard, along other various berries around our house, including a big raspberry bush with magnificent raspberries (and magnificent amounts of them every year), grapes, blueberries, strawberries. In the backyard, there is a walnut tree, an apricot (which every year produces a big load of large, juicy, amazingly tasty apricots, feeding us for a few weeks), plum tree (producing lots of small delicious plums every year), nectarine tree (small tree, but heavy with fruit every year), and those trees that Luke planted: persimmon, peach, fig (x2), apple, pear (x2), cherry tree. There are flowers all around as well, planted by the previous owner, which I appreciate immensly. They seem to pop out just when I want them, and then I put them in a vase for the altar, ready for the satasang meditation. My gardening skills are barely existing, and after my last year's disc injury, I am still recovering and have to be careful. What I would like to achieve is to transform this garden into a magnificent garden to feed us many different fruit. I would like to plant as many fruit trees and bushes as possible, and manage this effectively (which I want to, as I have a full time exciting job which I absolutley love!). So, one part of me that wants to move forward, is my farmer's instinct which I am yet to reconnect with. I can feel it. I would like to live it.

Moving forward is standing still. Being in the moment. Seeing what is. Living fully. Experiencing completely. So that the world does not move forward without me.

Dear Gosia, do you know which variety of persimmon Luke did plant? I have been researching which would be best for my mum out at Ellendale (just near Mount Field NP). What a delight to have those amazing fruit for your family! xx

I too have lovely fruit memories as a kid including gooseberries...do your bushes give you fruit yet?

The name? Something something lol. Now, you got me ha ha! I kept the card that was attached to the tree when we bought it, I will check it tonight and then say what it was, cause I can't remember it! As far as the bushes, not much lack yet, no gooseberries yet (only dreams of them), maybe 5 blueberries, and a handful of strawberries (I know I know, I neglected those, but I really felt like only lying down for several months). I read some of your posts on gardening, Jungle, am planning to revisit them, cause there is some really good info in them!!!

Oh thank you! That would be fabulous help! I'm sure your garden will recover. My mum's place had a neglected orchard when she moved in Dec 06 and now the blueberries, raspberries, gooseberries and apples are producing abundantly. Really abundantly for the blueberries - whoa! Berries like pine needles as a mulch for the correct PH (acid I think?). I am a bit frustrated by being a renter...a gypsy...cause I want to settle into a garden! The place I am just leaving had an amazing apricot tree, and grapevines that produced for months in incredible abundance for all our family, friends and the whole neighbourhood's bird population. I took some cuttings. Grapes are aparently the easiest fruit to propogate. Would you like a couple? They will just sit there over winter not doing much but I would put them in a pot, water them and cover with a plastic bag so the condensation will water them until spring.

I can just imagine your amazing magical place of a garden with fruit and flowers in many colour and shapes, and critters flying and crawling around in the amazing web we know as Life - wow!

All the power and health to you creating you dream. Maybe I could help you sometime when I get settled into my new place? That would be fun.

Have the most enjoyable day!

Oh, Jungle, that would be most wonderful (I will pm you my contact number)! I would love to learn from you! Actually, I was thinking of perhaps having a little raw meetup at our house one day. I am such a slow (and hesitant, well and fearful I must say!) decision maker. I could prepare some nice raw recipes for the day (and show how to make them)!

I know I know I know! (dancing a dance of triumph) Fuyu (sounds a little bit funny to me as "fuy" in Polish, my first language, means "yuck", and this persimmons is definitely NOT "fuy" ha ha), nonstringent, I got it at Stoneman's, I am planning to get more. I am surprised how late the fruit has arrived. It's not bad, I would like to spread tree fruting in my garden around, so that there is something in it to eat most of the time.

I admit, I do feel overwhelmed at times, with all these goals that I willingly (lol) put up in front of me. I could just be an old fart, but no, something drives me to do stuff. Oh well, my nature wins. As usually, phew!

Dancing around the gooseberry bush gooseberry bush gooseberry bush:

One part or of our large frontyard (I see all the empty space for growing all the fruit I want, those sheltered trees are orange and mandarine trees, why is the fruit still on them?):

Old greenhouse at the back (planning to to plant some greens in there soon) and the bath-paradise for worms:

Famous apricot tree (Luke built a construction all around it and the raspberry bush all the birds would get them, well they do get in there from time to time anyway, and then I let them out)

This IS going to be a huge glasshouse one day (was once a shed, we got rid off it):

Raspberry heaven:

More trees (miracles waiting to happen):

When we first went to see this house, the agent showed us around, then he took me to the back, showed me a huge backyard and then opened a back gate, and .... I saw a creek!!! My eyes popped out. We bought the house the next day ha ha!

Aaaa....

Moving Forward
Part 2. I am a frugivore

I woke up this morning, had a shower, and then made breakfast for the kiddies:

Then, I packed up my food for today's work:

What's in the green bag? I won't make it too easy for you. Spot the food in my office!:

Found it yet? Here it is! (this is what powers my scientific work):

When I get home tonight, I might have a salad, a huge (equivalent to several serves of what I would get at a restaurant) bowl of it, all for me, I am salivating already at the thought of it, why? be Cos lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, avo, maybe a few olives, orange dressing, mmm... Or, perhaps a coconut smoothie. Can't make up my mind, usually I eat anything that's in view and edible! Not too much thought processing, just hunger and feast. Moving forward for me is enjoying my food! No judgment, no restraints, no guilt, only bliss, not some bliss, TOTAL bliss!

Yesterday, a sudden urge for having some greens got me in the middle of the day, and so I went to the uni cafeteria and ordered two (just in case) takeaway raw vegan ( yep, the magnificent chef does it just for me Smiley ) salads. But even the two salads did not do the trick for me, as the serves they do are, you know, not quite the size I CAN eat. So today, I outsmarted myself (imagine that) and brought the ingredients with me. And, I made it, just a moment ago, now chewing the green heaven. The ingredients? One Cos lettuce, one packet of mixed greens, half a cucumber, 2 tomatoes, half avocado, a few olives, half orange juice (these days I am most happy with just orange juice as a dressing). Now I am blissful...

Hi Gosia,

I respect a lot of what you say because of how it has so often resonated with me.  In response to what you wrote here concerning Amma, she actually is up in Northern California, I think even at this very moment, but I haven't decided whether I wanted to visit her due to this guy I recently dated actually worshiping her in his Hindu religion.  He says she has love, but he doesn't love and couldn't recognize my love.  I want to go just to sense the experience, but I know that once people put others on a pedestal, the purity doesn't exist anymore.  I also then think that even Amma condones that elevation.  What are your thoughts since I know you also agree with equality and our own power and knowing?

I think your daughter is absolutely beautiful!  It's also great how she loves such wonderful food.  Do you find that buckwheat things take too long to dehydrate to where bacteria may form on the paraflex sheet?  I made an 811 banana/buckwheat cracker/bread, and it just wouldn't dry on the bottom and even got sour tasting, so surely this isn't good? huh  My concoctions now are just dumping flattened blobs onto the mesh to get a more even dry, but I do want to make gorgeous crusts like your pizza.  Is there nothing to worry about?

Take care, and keep spreading your good thoughts. Smiley
Love,
Theresa

Hi Theresa!

I am coming exactly from the point of view that you are presenting. No pedestalism (I boycott it ha ha)! Many Hindu would probably like to turn Amma into some sort of religion, but Amma is beyond that. Amma means "mother", to me she is my mother who gave me the motherly love that I had never got before, which gave me the energy to live. Her life is nothing but being on a pedestal. It is work work work, which she's done ever since she was a little girl (instead of schooling, worked all day for her extended families and got into trouble for feeding the poor with her parents' money, not wanting to get married, chased her husband-to-be with a stick ha ha, and hugging all people even men, a big no no there). She now works on various multiple projects, apart from giving her time and heart to people around her. She spends many many hours every day hugging hundreds and thousands of people in one day (without even going to a toilet, no idea how she does that lol), giving love to every being she sees no matter who they are, loving everyone and touching hearts of everyone she hugs (see it here), she has a permanent mark on her cheek from hugging people. When I get a chance to see her, I get as many hugs as I can get, and I sit as close to her as I can, and watch her, and breathe the ennergy IN. I see the various external things occuring during a day with Amma as symbols of the internal transformations. After that I am energized for many months. She really is an amazing love-energy soul, don't deny yourself the miracle of her hug based on someone's shortcomings.  This is the best treat you could give to your SELF.  People adore Amma, because she is so adorable! Smiley

Try upping the temperature a bit for the crackers (higher at first, it won't cook them, lower later) for best results.

ooo,
Gosia
