Did you know that commercial, "deodorised" coconut oils are typically heated to over 210 degrees celcius (yes, that's
celcius!)? So why on earth would you try to de-odorise coconut oil, which typically smells beautifully light and "coconutty"? Largely because these same coconut oils are made from the lowest quality of coconuts that have typically been left in huge piles until fermented to such an excessive level that they go mouldy and off, turning the beautiful coconut smell to a rather repulsive smell that needs to be removed to get people to buy it. (See picture below) Needless to say, we recommend avoiding "deodorised" coconut oil at all costs!
