5 days on water
Well I completed my fast of 5 days on water!  I must say I feel very good about myself.  Apart from having lost a good deal of weight I hope that this will have a better effect on my skin.  Yesterday was a rest day.  I felt so lethargic and my limbs felt like lead.  I struggled to not eat and looked forward to my pears and a chick pea salad which I have ear marked for Monday night's dinner.

Again by about 3:00 pm yesterday I felt very nauseous.  I endured this till about 6:30pm when I felt I could no longer go on with the fast.  I did not drink so much because to do so made me want to vomit worse.  I finally threw up and felt better which allowed me to finish the fast.  detox
I went to bed at about 9:00 pm and slept till 12:30 when I woke up bright as a pin and decided that was it, my tummy was gurgling and I was now going to make my juice.  So I did.  It was delightful.  Carrot and celery, so sweet and divine.   thumbup

So today I am on juices and fruit, will do this till dinner time tonight when I will have either my apple or a pear or some steamed vegetables..... which are so enticing to me.  Steamed pumpkin, carrot, zucchini, sweet potato & broccoli with a little salt and lemon, delicious.  I have concluded as well that I will include a little steamed veg into my diet as well as the beans, as I don't think I am getting enough variety on simply raw foods alone.  I leave out such things as sweet potatoes, broccoli and pumpkin and not real keen on cauli raw either unless it is with a dip.  So this morning apart from feeling a bit tired I feel quite good. Much brighter
The weather is better and I might go for a 20 min walk,  do some shopping.
So when my hunger returns, which it has not yet, that will be the real test, but green smoothies and lots of bulk will be the order of the day.

Day 101 on raw foods.
since coming home from my 'internment' I have been quite busy sohave not had time to post.
I was so pleased that i completed my fast of 5 days on water, I did loose 3 kg's which is a nice 'add on'.

My skin? Well that has responded quite well to the fast and it now has a lot of smooth patches, i will get to loading the pics, must do it at home, so will aim for Saturday.

I am very pleased with how i have pulled up after the fast.  Last time i fasted 3 days on water,  i was most lethargic at the end of it, this time i am quite energetic, I am not sure if this is becuase i ensured that each day of the fast i did 30-50mins walking, the pace & distance varied according to my level of tiredness.

Apart from a few slight deviations i have been able to pretty well stick to Raw Foods, though in saying that, i have decided to include some steamed vegetables into my diet which has included baked potato and sweet potato.   I have not been starving hungry, though I have been advised to expect this. I did go for my first swim yesterday, 1000m, that was enough, got quite tired after that as i have not done any swimming for about 12 weeks, I need to work a bit to get back to the 2000m swim.  Last night i had the munchies mainly because i did not drink enough water.  I ate all of the 'dressing' that i made for a raw caesar salad, this involved 1 cup of pumpkin seeds and some seasonings, to top about 3 cups of Cos lettuce, plus cucumber olives and celery.   It made a great dip, rather than a dressing. Then a packet of sundried mango, my linseed crackers and avo and tomato and salt (lots of it), not just one serve either but more than one....   After finishing that i then had Then a pear and i felt as if i could just go on and on, my belly was overfull when i went to bed but slept ok.
Today
pear, banana (just cant seem to find ripe ones at the moment- too cold)
juice carrot and apple and celery
nibbled a bit when preping pizza for everyone else
Lunch
steamed: pumpkin, parsnip, beetroot, boc choi, zucc, carrot and beans and one baked spud and sweet potato piece about 5 cm long.  This sits really nice in my tummy
Delicious.
If i can get some ripe bananas i will make a banana almond milk and date shake for dinner tonight.

Saturday
day 103
I am mad about sweetcorn at the moment, I love it so am lightly steaming it and eating it just plain.  It is the most delicious thing.
Friday
swimming - 1000m second set since the fast- I do get tired quickly so am building up slowly.
almond milk smoothie with linseeds and banana - drank a little as i 'ate' close to lunch
Satay veg  and rice. Had to go out yesterday.
Celery and maca paste
some dry wheat bix - from my non raw daughter with some dip - vege base - not bad
dinner
corn and
baked potato
and fruit.  Waited about 30 mins between each course.
Saturday
I made some essene bread and ate the whole loaf for breaky,
granny apple first then cos lettuce with pumpkin seed dressing - delicious
dinner will be the biggest salad i can make - i am so craving it. and a raw apple pie, crust is dehydrating as i write.
I must say i am surprised at how well i pulled up after the fast.  I am greatly tired though i am not pushing the exercise everything else is as normal.

Hi Frangipanni, You sound like you are doing really well and you did such a great job on your water fast... 5 days is awsome.

Have you tried corn straight off the cob with no cooking it is even sweeter I put it in a salad all the time (well when I have it) and it really gives it a lift and stops the sweet craving I get most nights. Try it and let me know what you think.

How is your skin going now..... It looks so painful, do you put anything on it to help or are you just trying to heal it naturally. 2 of my kids (I have 3) have eczema (is that similar?Huh) Bella on her bum and Islie on her feet and i have to moisturise them everyday. I brought a big bottle of a chemical one which helps Bella a lot not really Islie. I have been thinking I should use just the coconut oil on them. Oh I just remembered I use to hvae psorisis (sp?) on my scalp, which has pretty much gone since I dont use shampoo anymore.

Lots of love to you Frangipanni I am sorry I havnt been into your journal before this...

Hi Pinky, thanks for dropping in.
I am about to post my pics and take another of my skin in a few mins.  I am fortunate that it does not itch or bother me  much.  I am very careful to avoid all acid types of foods i.e. pineapple, oranges mandarines, etc.  I eat a few strawbs and a few berries (very few) and very few tomatoes even dried ones.  I love them to death but cant eat them.   I eat heaps of celery, carrot and cucumber juices, apples to sweeten; they are cooling fruits and veg.  The celery seems to be particularly soothing.  I also find that oils are not good for my skin either.  After the fast i made a dressing of oil and juices and accidentally tipped too much oil onto the salad - my hand went mad raised up really red and itchy.  It healed again over a couple of days.
After swimming (my exercise) which is generally 3x per week i have found that the Mi Essence range of products helps rehydrate my skin after the chlorine. I use their shampoo too, it does not contian any sodium laureth sulphate. and leaves the hair with a good shine as well.  I love their products.
With regards your kids, eczma is related to psoraisis and should be treated the same.  No acid fruits and limit wheats and dairy.  Use almond milk and limit the grains as well.  Plenty of sun on the butt will help as well, but take it very slowly.  My son had it at 6 months from top to toe and it was so bad it would weep ( he was 100% breastfed)  I read a book that indicated that fasting could help, so I fasted my son on water for 36 hours - it went away and has never returned since.  My husband is a Chiro/Naturopath/Oseto so i was quite confident that all would be well.  During the fast he had only water.  He did not cry nor did I have trouble with my milk.  It was amazing and he made a full recovery.  He has beautiful skin now.  All things are trial and error with skin problems and the skin reacts really quickly so you can track it easily especially in kids.
great to meet you
do drop in any time Pinky

Well, I have at last got around to loading and 'privatising' my pics of my skin.  As there was not much change during the fast i have only loaded day one and day 4.  I was a little disappointed with the response, but often healing occurs after the fast so with a bit of care i hope that the improvement will commence.

Day one - a little redder if any thing at all

not really much better- sigh; and less of me
all up I lost 3 kg.

The latest on the psoraisis - a little improvement here but not much.  There is very little 'scale' and less inflamation.

I do think i should eat less though,
Tonight's dinner
Gone raw - raw fried rice.  It was delicious
and the best pear.........
delicious

Hi Frangipanni,

I read that Omega 3 is supposed to be good for psoraisis. Have you tried adding a good amount of chia to your diet daily to see if it has any effect? It's 25% by weight Omega 3. I'm really enjoying it using Jen's chia pudding recipe. Yum!

Hey Frang, congrats on your fast. I understand why no pee photos! And your car must be super clean after a 2.5 hour exterior wash!

The inflammation on your skin looks a lot less red. More pale and closer to your normal skin colour. Yippeee!

I'm really enjoying your journal. Thank you so much for posting.

As much as i would have loved to have the spots vanish, and i am a little disappointed, it does not stop me from doing any thing that i want to do and i do not allow it to be a major focus of my life and therefore affecting my moods to a large extent.  It is difficult in the change rooms at the pool but i just deal with it.  One day when i was showering (in the open shower booths provided at the pool) a young girl of ten came up to me and said 'scuse me, but what is that on your skin?'  I was most impressed with the mature way she handled it, instead of staring and giggling.  So i explained it to her and she said 'oh, my uncle has that' and just ran off and did what she needed to do.

thanks Sheryl, I have taken supplements of Omega 3's and regularly take multis and cod liver oil as well as vit E and Iron and other skin supplements, My son who studied chinese Med (has spent 10 years studying) as well as hubby have both said the best thing that i can do is to do what i am doing, there is no definate cure and no one remedy, skin problems are the most difficult and the most stubborn and individual problems (ailments).  It is such a pain.  But thank you so much for suggesting it, I will check out Jens pudding - always up for desserts!

The car, yes it was pretty bad, i used a tooth brush on the wheel trims, it is now being lent to my daughter, so it will be ready for another splash soon.

Day 104.
Breakfast
smoothie - with pear and banana -sweet and delicious
Lunch
Asian noodle salad - I actually made up a salad dressing - it is yummmo and will write the ing down soon and post,
Dinner
Apple pie/ or Banana blueberry and avo pie
spinach caesar salad.
3 litres of water -it has been so hard to drink after having water only for 5 days and it is so COLD. But when I start it is delicious

It might take some time to fade. I'm sure it's been there for years and will take years to go. One step at a time. I'm impressed with the improvement already!

W-E-L-L ....... the day started with - oh just a piece of licorice, it won't hurt......... and graduated into the home made chicken 'sasuage' rolls for the grandies' just a taste it wont matter' ........... then into just a forerro rocher chocolate and an organic choc...... but i did stop at that, and  I am just very glad that there is fresh new day tomorrow!  I now have a crook tummy that feels as if it has a lead weight in it.     detox

My bread turned out great - excellent in fact, had a salad sandwich for lunch.   thumbup, bought some spinach to try the spinach wraps.
I was awake early this morning so got up and went for a swim - best time of the day to do so, I would love to go tomorrow again but dont think i am organized enough.  So will tackle Wednesday for another swim.  I will try for a walk tomorrow.  I am now swimming 1200 meters , will increase to 1500 meters next week then back to 2000 meters.  That should be ok after the fast.  Cold showers at the pool this am.  Am still sitting in chlorinated water - must have a good scrub tonight to get it off my skin.
Back on Raw tomorrow, it will be much appreciated,  I will make the best smoothie big and green and beautiful ....
