Finding that after swimming i am quite hungry, I have incorporated some nuts into my salads, this is better for me and i have been able to get on with my raw living quite well.
I found Tuesday a real challenge, was tired after swimming last night and ate quite a light dinner late after swimming on Monday Night, so weakened to some chicken at lunch time.  Dinner was difficult but mainly raw.  Strange immediately the chicken hit my stomach i had a gag reflex, I felt quite sick it settled after a few minutes
However, Wednesday was much easier.  Swimming coach set sprint training  session with a long cool down.  I decided to include some nuts, not a lot was needed to satisfy the hunger problem.  I also drank about 2.5 liters of water before lunch.  I usually do drink a lot after swimming but it seems that i need to drink more.  Dinner was Raw cauli Korma - mild delicious curry on crumbled cauliflower with sultanas and nuts.
Today I found life much easier, after nuts and a good bellyfull of food and a good nights sleep - Life is much brighter.
Breaky
smoothie - Juices of carrots, cuc, celery, apple blended banana and avo and baby spinach - yummo it was very smooth and filling as well
Lunch
steamed veg - carrot, zucc, cauli, corn, broccolini, spinach, boc Choi, sugar snap peas some maca nuts and some dried fruit
then the test -work, i took a container of cherries and a banana - feeling much more satisfied, however this time i did not want to eat the steamed veg, i found myself struggling with steaming them, but i wanted to eat the broccoli, any ideas on how to eat it raw?
craving a salad tonight so not sure what type it will be but will enjoy it I know.
Late night work tonight and early morning tomorrow - swimming -  This will make it 4 days this week. I would love to keep it at 4 days that is when my fittness really improves but in summer it is a struggle because we go away regularly and there is no pool there.
I am trying another of ABEBA's cracker creations, will post how it turns out.  It smells delicous in the dehydrator.

Good morning Frangi!
Have been away for a couple days, just checking in to say hi.
You're not a fan of raw broccoli huh? Have you tried it with hummus? I have always loved raw broc, either on it's own or with dips. I just read your tahini salad dressing recipe(yum!) - perhaps you could tweak that a bit and drizzle it over the top of some chopped broc? I used to love cooked broccoli soup - you think a raw one would work? *hmm got me thinking...* hehe, have a great day!

Unique   Ahhhhhhh Nooooo, I could not stand it any longer, I ate a pizza that I was making for the olds.  I devoured it.
the day went like this:
Woke at 6:00 tried to sleep till 7:00 got up and started to work on the computer.   Then, I made some raw cookies and then went swimming.  Eating only a pear and a banana.  I swam 2400 m and after it I was absolutely starving.  I had some shopping to do so visited the F&V shop then had to go to the supermarket.  At the supermarket there was a lady offering tasting on some potato chips - I weakened - and man were they nice - absolutely delicious.  I struggled for ages wishing that she would leave the stand so that I could go and get some more, I picked up a bag of chips and put them down, walked around the supermarket and picked them up again.  But I did not buy any.        nope    Felt really good about this then came home and felt really tired.  All I wanted to do was rest some how but had to pack stuff away.  I did this and then prepared the pizzas - the cheese, just a nibble wont hurt, then a bit of bacon then, ' oh damn it I'll have a piece of pizza when it is cooked'  it tasted so nice that was it, I ate a whole small one.   Now I have this ball of dough in my gut, just sitting under the left rib, I am bloated and feel very thirsty.   downcast

Oh the ol' pick up the chips, put them down and pick them up again only to end up not buying them!:-D! I have done that a million times Frangi! Although my food choices have improved dramatically but I still sometimes do it with dehydrated bananas my mum makes, proceedure sort of goes like this....open the dehydrator, stare at banana, think do I really want it? without coming to a decision, unconsciously peel one or two off the tray....analyse banana closely, start to imagine chewing on it, suddenly snap out of it & grasp consciousness, quickly put back on tray and close dehydrator! Usually do this again once or twice, have more wins these days then not though :-D

It can be so challenging to be totally conscious in the moment especially when habitual responses kick in, we have a lot to block out of our busy little minds in that moment....the taste of the food, the past social gatherings connected with it , the 'I've been good so I deserve a treat' attitude, the addicitive aspects of the food, the self-sabbotaging negative voice etc etc....

I know what has helped me a lot is writing down what results i really want for my health and well being & getting clear about the direction I'm heading in, food choices do get a lot easier once you've established what sort of health level you want to achieve and it's written down infront of you.  Then adding as many positives to that list to build resolve and being aware & writing down the negatives (how u feel etc) associated with unhealthy food choices..

Well done on not buying the chips, that is a real achievement, I think a lot of the time it's easy to focus on what we didn't do then what we did...
If I'm tired too my decisions are always less then the best and sometimes if I have a craving for something I will just send myself to bed straight away.

The more non-foods like cheese, dough, meat etc you eat the more you will want them & the more cravings you will have, try to eliminate theses foods completely & the cravings will disappear, they are like drugs and continue to circulate in your system until enough energy is freed up to expel them....add more fruits & greens so you don't have room for anything else. Our tastebuds prefer sweet & are easily confused with all the excito-toxins/salts & various condiments most cooked & gourmet raw dishes have in them. If the sugar isn't getting across into the cell then there will also be cravings...

A lot of my success on raw came when I increased my fruit intake to as much as I could fit, made sure I was eating mainly mono meals, smoothies and lowfat. Approx 90% carbs.
Be aware that dried fruits and nuts can also interfere with sugar uptake therefore leading to cravings. Drink water too, keep an eye on the colour of your pee.

Awesome exercise sess in the pool Frangi, no wonder you were hungry XX yahh

thank you for the support FrealeaRaw,  I had a  good laugh with you, knowing that you have 'been there done that' before, probably heaps of others have 'been there done that before' as well.   crazy
That is a really good idea, the goals to remind me of where i want to go and how i'm gonna get there....  thumbup I have just read a good article by karen Knowler about making sure we are properly hungry before eating, a bigger challenge than it sounds, but something i will aim for down the track.  Mean time getting back on track again is the target.
Last night, after fully realizingthat i could not go on, i did just that, sat down and rested; which is what i should have done in the first place.  I simply should have decided to go to bed and have a rest rather than tried to be a super hero and keep on going.    LOL  It is a lot about learning about our bodies and listening to its signals.  I do try to push myself to-o-o far too often.
i did not know that about dried fruits and nuts so will definately do the greens and fruits after swimming eating as muchas i can fit in - till 'my belly is full'  (quoting my grandson).  Thanks for that, so to increase my fruit intake and eat lots more greens.  I must learn to keep it simple as well, I tend to like to prepare foods which whilst that is fun it is not always necessary KISS principle is better......and easier.
Thank you FreeleaRaw for your help

I have been toying with a raw zucchini hommus, can't come at the thought of a sprouted pea one yet, so will give that a try on it.  I have also found a receipe for sweet potato hommus, have not looked at it in depth but it may be a simple oil and lemon dressing/My favourite dressing or and italian one might do the trick sothat i can give it a go.  Broccolini seems to me to be a little more tender- I quite like the stalks of broccoli, it is just the flowers that i find hard, may be it is the texture    uhuh

Hey franga, my pleasure I love to see people succeed in life :-)
Yes Im definitely a subscriber to the KISS principle, its easy to get caught up with the 'dramas' in life and complicate things.  I notice the simpler my life/food/relationships/etc are  the more energy & love I have and can also give to others.

Waiting till your hungry is an interesting one...I previously did this waiting for the 'aching' feeling in the back of my throat but if you are anything like me (& most people when they are  hungry) then you may actually end up making the wrong food choices that aren't health-giving  and also miscombining foods due to a lacking in sugar/carbs to the brain (which helps with desicion making) & end up stuffing food in unconsciously.

I really wouldn't recommend waiting till your hungry, willpower will only last so long and then backfire into all out bingeing.  If you get 100% sure of what level of health you want to experience, write it down, visualise achieveing and feeling it then you won't need to 'control' certain behaviours anymore, everything (all the finer details like waiting till hungry) will fall into place and discipline/will power will become a thing of the past....you have to really want it though& be clear!
I still sometimes prepare meals, they are still fun and creative whilst remaining well-combined :-) I have a rawbook on my website which has lots of fun recipes that are well-combined and easy on digestion.

Hey join us for a week on banana & greeeeen island?

Yes have been there and done that - binge eating when allowing myself to get too hungry............before raw and some times even after raw.  Think I'll just concentrate on eating right first, then as i get more and more into this it should happen naturally.

Had a tough night swimming training last night 1000m of sprint training a total of 2300 m swim, GOSH, it was really hard work. After training had a huge drink of water, ate 1/4 watermelon, pear, banana, walnuts a few to garnish then a few sultanas to garnish - this is my altime fave fruit dish (pear, banana, walnuts and sultanas), I did not feel too hungry after swimming so the fruit is the answer.  I recall a coach suggested that after swimming we should eat 'snakes' to boost the sugar level up, I had forgotten about that, but it seems that what she was saying bout the sugar level might be accurate.  I slept well and I am not ravishingly hungry today.  I am also adding a lot more fruits.
Cooking for olds today, weakened to the pastry - durn it!   Sad
Always tomorrow, am finding it all a bit hard at present, cooking for olds etc.  I wisht they could eat with teeth!  snicker
I am pondering what you said Carmij about the health goals - and yes it makes a lot of sense.  Will visualize my self and my skin healed work out what exactly my health goals are, crystalizing them the write them down to keep me on teh straight and narrow and to enable me to relax and enjoy food and all that goes with it....appreciated rose

Hey Franga:-)
Banana & greeeeens island week is only those 2 ingredients for a week.  RawNfit, VegDelight and a few possibles have joined in as well, you should give it a whirl? We are posting on the 100days raw thread up ze top^^ there will be lots of support .  I will be doing mainly Green smoothies as they are really satisfying, get full up on one with 5 or more narna's before you cook for the olds and it should really help.  Also combining watermelon with anything else (esp fats) will lead to issues, I know its only early in your raw journey and you're transitioning but food combining can make a massive difference to your digestion and ultimately to the way you feel therefore leading to better food choices.
What'd ya think of the ebook?
