i just opened a thai coconut then to use and it was all purple inside and rotten looking and the water looked pink. i've heard about this on the forum alot but forget why it is they are like that? i can still smell it and it reminds me of some glue or something. i wonder if i'll ever locate a good coconut. i've tried the sunrise coconuts website but it doesn't seem to be up anymore.

Hi Tora Chan,
Yukkkky - definately something that i would not want to eat......... did the coconut have a useby date?  My fruit and veg guy gets them in for me and they have a use by date on them, the last one i bought had a useby date some time late July.  May be you can check for that  shrug  I was speaking to Raw Pleasure who said she was going to check on Sunshine coconut guy to see if he was still doing the coconut thing, she might be able to help you get some Aussie ones?

I don't' know if you saw them here the other day when you were here. I'll be out again next week. If you like hold off and we can go halvies in a bag. Then you won't have to find $40 upfront.

They do taste slightly different but I prefer them now. I can also show you how to open them. Takes me awhile but i get there. wish I had a better knife. Must get one of those machete things.

yeh the machete thingy is the best at whacking open the coconuts....i am pretty deft at getting the coconut open with a small hammer..and wasnt toooooooo messy,lol!

had some very expert machete weilding lessons in Thailand last year...
